  1. Kim, Taking time from one's own life to reach out to those of US who get Great Pleasure and become more informed on a Sports Team we truly enjoy. Is sometimes done out of Love of sharing, You are that kind of person to me. You and Charles reach out with information, taking your time and energy, for those of us who Reap the Benefits of that hard work. I hope and pray, that what ever ailments you are going through, you find rejuvenation and recovery. That your Higher Power, see's the good things you do, have done and seek to enjoy is still a head of you. It must feel like a Thankless job at times but I am sure, your passion is heart felt. Thank You to You and Charles for sharing with a community of people who enjoy GOD, life, family and the Ducks.
  2. Oregon has the Offense, The Defense just needs to show up. Today, they made an appearance and did very well. Year Two of Dan Lanning is building it Well. Defense is improving, beating the teams we should beat. Better coached teams with better personnel is a work in progress. The Only Two Losses, to the same team, Washington by 3 both times. I am Hoping for a Michigan vs Washington Championship, Washington Winning. It will tell MANY how good DeBoer is and Penix has been leading the Offense. Both Games this year against Washington and Last Year, WATCH OUT B1G, there is a couple of New Sheriffs coming to Town and it AINT USC or UCLA.
  3. To be sure, much of what has been said about Helfrich has been shown as true during his tenure. His offensive knowledge was very good, his adjustments in the field when things went off, well, not so good. The same could be said about Chip. If Aliotti was not DC, how might things have worked out for Oregon? Fentress, when working for the Oregonian, was the SAME guy, he is today. Sorry Not a Fan of Fentress. To Me, Oregon should have in place, the infrastructure that assists the coaches to ease the burdens of their jobs, while being in compliance. QUIT REBUILDING THE WHEEL! This simply, drives me Crazy. Coaches come and go, the GAME has NOT really changed. Schemes change, personnel change IE; Coaches, Player types. Every time their is a New Head Coach, is every thing else let go too? Oregon had success, when Kelly was hired as OC. The powers that be realized, they might lose a great Coach if they did not promote him, thus the Musical Chairs with AD Bellotti and Chips Promotion. But have we not learned, that Chips success came with a Long Term staff of Assistant Coaches, that where great teachers and developers of talent. Leading to TWO appearances in National Championship Games with 3/4 star talent with some surprise 4/5 stars. Chip did not do it alone, the Helfriches, Frosts, Campbell and Greatwoods assembled and developed players well. Aliotti and Company, assembled the talent and developed players who played above their skill levels. Fentress, should sit down and write a book on How Oregon assembled the teams that went to the "Natty" in 2010-11 and 2014-15 seasons. How Oregon did a poor job of helping the Coaches succeed to their new positions. Dan Lanning, has it figured out and is making adjustments as he goes. Hell of a Job. Keep up the Great Work Coach. I hope DL is here for a long time, Oregon is keeping Notes and the Emergency Manual is printed and copied with a Notes Section, should a New Head Coach be needed in 25 years. And Oh Yea, Fentress, time for you to Retire Yet?
  4. Charles, Loved your breakdown. Was written so a guy like me could understand it well. I am hoping, those recruits who elect to give it their best are able to compete. I love the Underdogs as Oregon, used to be one. Happy to see the Talent finally make it's way to Eugene, a hard place to Recruit to. Dan Lanning brings a different type of Management to Oregon. He is a hard worker, I like what we are seeing and feel he has the Feathers to Make Oregon Fly.
  5. What this young man's father had to say about Dan Lanning, is what impresses me most. Let us see, that kind of care in development. Staff too, says a lot about how they are treated similar goals.
  6. With every player getting 4 in game appearances to count against red shirting, it allows for test driving SA and developing. Depth was affected in the DB group, yet we lose two experienced guys to the Portal. What Lanning did this year and some of the Position Coaches was use the depth on the team to ensure reps, rest and recovery to evaluate talent. When the Defense did well, taking two score leads, the scheme was poor in maintaining leads. Defense was playing not to lose. While the offense lost steam. Or the Opponent stepped up, Scoring FAST and defense out performed Our Prevent Defense. TERRIBLE. IE; Washington at Washington. Two Oregon Possessions for a total of 6 minutes 0 to show for it. Washington 53 seconds 7 points for the 3 point Lead and win. My Dad used to "Tell me" all the time, until One Day the Lightbulb in my head went off, "he was right". Some times, we just need to listen and get out of our own way. Life, you are ALWAYS learning. If you don't believe that, I will give you one of my many lightbulbs.
  7. His reaction, looking back for the ball took sometime. He started off slow, I thought he finished 2022 off looking like he was adjusting, Same for Addison, he looked like he was picking balls was getting to where he needed. My issue was they lack speed, for the kind of Defense Oregon is Scheming, that falls on the Coaches. Not using the tools you have and adjusting accordingly. Defense, more improved this Year than last year. Yet still allowing teams with decent offense to get explosion plays and two deep safeties expected to be fast enough to cover. Won't change, Manning gets caught, like Florence, PI when they never look back for the ball. Recruits that do that or have speed and strength. Got to teach that COACH! Two guys you have invested in being pushed out.
  8. The Crazy Part is, all the PAC members, were not in any way looking for ways to Keep the PAC together. It was Easier to find a way out of a group of schools who have been connected together for over a 100 years. Kind of sad. The foundations of something was never really solid. Look at all the PAC to the Public. Not really how they have felt, just window dressing. I hope Oregon is watching their backs, We already know, two programs that could care less about Ducks success in the B1G. Going to be a lonely flock in a B1G world.
  9. This is Now going to be Known as the Rock, Paper, Scissors Conference. Best out of 11 wins!
  10. To me, Dan Lanning is already proving to be a LONG TERM Coach. Bellotti, had enough success, that Other Schools scooped up his OC's during his 17 years as the Head Coach of Oregon. His long list of Offensive Coordinators whom saw success, to move on to other programs as OC's of Bigger Programs or as Head Coaches. I expect that with another year, Will Stein starts doing the foundation work for a HC resume, he maybe in a position for a HC position at the Collegiate Level. His need is to learn the operations side of managing and assembling a team. I expect he will certainly be in a position to Lead his own team shortly. Bellotti's success began with Borges to UCLA as OC, Koetter to Boise St as HC, Tedford to Cal as HC, Crowton to LSU as OC, Kelly promoted to HC Oregon then to NFL Philadelphia HC, Helfrich promoted to HC Oregon, Frost promoted to OC Oregon to HC at UCF, Arroyo to UNLV HC and Dillingham to HC ASU. Many have moved on from Oregon after running successful Offenses for the most part. Tedford having one of the more successful tenures as Cal Head Coach elsewhere. Dan Lanning, having never been a Head Coach in a Collegiate setting, is in my opinion, doing a Great Job. In his first Two Years at the Collegiate level, at a Power 5 Program. Pretty Impressive for a guy whose only Coaching Positions was GA or Position Coaches at the collegiate level. Until he became the Defensive Coordinator of Georgia. Pretty impressive, in my opinion.
  11. You have Ty, Novastad, Two QB's in the 24 class, that have not signed yet, while you flirt with Moore. I love what Dan said about aTm HC position but Character goes two ways. You Have it and you Expect it. Then people Trust you. Character matters, ask Slick and MarioNoO. The Picture of a smiling Dan Lanning next to a I could give a rip Dante Moore tells me, CUT BAIT. Bring in a Veteran QB like Bo to raise the Bar, let the best man win. But then, how does anyone trust the staff moving forward. Family, Culture, Character, Trust or just a Coaches Line.
  12. Chip, Helf and Frosty at Boise, low key and Reminds me of Oregon but in Idaho. Can't recruit to Idaho, so works for Frosty. Helf doesn't mind being second Fiddle to Chip as long as he gets the OC Title, might help to bring back Aliotti or Azzinaro, you KNOW, the Old Gang.
  13. Jimbo to Miami? He could afford the Pay Cut and Low Expectations.
  14. Year in and Year out, in the B1G will up Oregon's game. People complain about bringing in Top Competition, all those years for Oregon and bringing in Dan Lanning, Phil you did not make a mistake. Winners CHALLENGE, leave it out there, all the time. Give it all they have, trust the process. The movie with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. How Nike became NIKE with a Swoosh.
  15. Did the Bye week affect the team. Like taking a time out when your team is in rhythm and hitting on all cylinders? I do not know. What I do know is some think that the numbers all point to Oregon should have won. We had the lead and sat on it. Look at ESPN's play by play of the LAST three possessions, Oregon had two of them. All 50+ yards with a little over 6 minutes left in the game. Possession #1 Oregon looked to kill clock and score, 10 plays and a turnover on downs taking 4 min. 22 sec. Possession #2 Washington attacked Oregon defense, 2 pass plays TD taking 33 seconds. Final Possession with only one time out Oregon short passes to sidelines, 10 plays missed 43 yard FG took 1 min. 38 sec to end the game. This was just a window of time in the game. Many windows open to speculation. If I yell at the TV loud enough, maybe the Ducks will improve and stop with the mistakes. I know I could have caught THAT ball! My 21 year old son, so mad at me for yelling in the house he called his mom. I got an earful with the window closed, when she came home. When I finally cooled down, I got on to see the post game interviews. I watched Bo's, Now I understand why Lanning has so much respect for the young man. His long explanation to a female reporters question, let the Hot Air out of my balloon, sanity returned. Later, I even watched the Post game interview of Coach Lanning. Right off the top, I was impressed with his demeanor. Compare him to Mario's Post Game Pressers. The admiration I felt, I am ALL IN for the vision he has and is trying to imprint upon these young men. He understands there is room for improvement, growth and direction. We need more people like him, Mentors, Teachers of life. How anyone could play this game and take THE RISK of letting down so many, is unimaginable, too much for me. But Please, accept my apologies, for not being good enough, to bring home the win. Perspective. No blame, just a good game.
  16. Love the Lee of OLD, since his health issues, not the same LEE. Sadly, rather than let him gracefully leave, he is just another Brent Musberger. I remember when people gave Howard Cosell a hard time for his comments on MNF, Monday Night Football. Sometimes, you are all played out, go out on top, not some sad story. Corso, hope we prove you wrong and you realize your mistake, smile and hang up the cleats. You have been a joy to watch for many years, the way I would like to remember you.
  17. We will get to see what the Young men who chose Oregon are made of. . . Washington, the Next Game, setting the stage for the rest of the season. It has to be an EVERY GAME Mentality not just one. Reminds me of the Blow Out of FSU then such a let down against Ohio St in 2015. To get over the TOP you have to bring your "A" Game, everyday. Is Oregon, up for that? I believe so but more importantly, does OREGON. Leave your answer on the field with NO DOUBT!
  18. Dan Lanning had a great first year as HC of Oregon. Some of his decisions, showed his youth but also showed his belief in his team. The areas needing improvement from year one to year two are showing up in the beginning of the season. Oregon's Defense, has controlled those teams they SHOULD be controlling. The Second game of the season at TT, the defense attacked better than last year while on the road. The DL is getting more pressure, due to better coverage by the DB's, forcing the QB to hold on to the ball longer. The Defense is showing up early for Oregon. The Offense, Bo being more of the Leader, has distributed the ball more to the play makers. Cutting down on the number of hits he may sustain. The OL is settling down and finding their groove. The Depth across the board has helped the Ducks greatly. Oregon has gone into working the clock to deny the Opposing Offense the ball. It also affords the Defense a chance to rest, scheme for what is going on, making adjustments. I like Oregon's chances in this game at Husky Stadium, Oregon with a road win 48 - 17.
  19. Charles, thank you for sharing these wonderful images with us. I hope our team is so focused on winning at a high level, they understand the focus and execution that is needed to reach success. While I loved how it all came together for the Ducks against FSU in 2015, the fact that it could not be sustained against the Ohio State shows that so much more has to happen to lift a championship trophy and that is what makes it So Special. Go Ducks!
  20. Coach Lanning an Oregon Cheerleader? He said it, he sees the qualities a player brings to the Team and Staff. Sees those who do it in practice will do it on game day as a Leader, Motivator and even an Educator. Lanning is out there, taking it all in, seeing what, how the team motivates each other. Let Them do the Trash Talking, Oregon will talk with their pads, on the field. Let Them think they have the masses, we will silence them with the fans of Autzen. As They try to figure out "how to stop the bleeding", we will let our depth feed on the doubters and the hype machine. Coach Lanning, did not give Colorado fuel to feed the fire. He gave credit where credit was due. He put the focus on "THEM". Lanning believed in his staff, players and home crowd to provide the environment for success. Coach Lanning and Team, work your magic. Stay focused, bring your best and do not let your guard down. This may be the last year to Harvest those Trees and walk away, injury free. Go Ducks.
  21. USC's last score off a turnover from a back up QB. ASU was still in the Game to the end, how can that be from a TOP 10 team?
  22. They having a Cleaning Pac-12 Clearance Sale, by the Time we get to the end of the Regular Season, somebody going to be recording video from a smart phone and posting on X. Do not mess with the peeps minding X or you find yourself Blocked or told to go to Tik Tok for updated score.
  23. Sometimes the Home Crowd is the Twelfth Player and The type to Keep everyone's Head in the Game. You need the Crowd support. Arizona has that Atmosphere. I believe in UTAH but if injuries are YOUR Achilles' heel, watch out! Quality Depth is so important at key spots. Oregon is in that position, last year proved it. Talent on the team but an uncomfortable back up QB, Dennis Dixon anyone?
  24. AH, that is a Good Question. Yet, I also believe that recruits or athletes want some control of their exposure before their collegiate career is over. Sadly, many a recruit with talent are forced to sit behind talent that "picked up" a scheme or had more skills. For some players, the Portal has provided opportunities, while others have been buried. On the last, I believe M Pittman, made a poor choice. While for T Shough, it has worked out well for him. NIL from my perspective, helps many of the non Scholarship Players with the expenses of college life that used to be a burden for some. For those on Scholarship, they can leverage it to help family, removing some of the mental burdens due to finances. Marketing oneself is an investment in their TALENT, being rewarded by being Proactive to Accomplishments made. Bryce Boettcher is a perfect example of a Walk On Athlete that has been successful in Two Sports. He is a Great Representative of the Ducks Football and Baseball Programs. What NIL and the Portal has done for Colorado, Oregon State, Washington State and even the Oregon and Washington Programs has been Program Changing in my view. While Oregon has added depth on Offense, they have revamped their Defense this year through the Portal and NIL. While Other Programs have elevated their programs to Compete with others within their Conferences. As Schools succeed, NIL, the Portal will become great tools. To fill holes, increase depth, provide leadership and create competition between programs in the future.
  25. LOL, I thought Franklin prematurely stopped too early and missed the continuation block down field on the safety, if he forced him to the sideline. BUT CHARLES, I loved the Lesson but I am partial to your commentary as we used to watch the film. Ah, the Good Ole Days. I know you mentioned you moved, My Hopes is you Brought or are thinking of a way to Bringing back the Helmet Back Ground. It is Your Trade Mark and one I thoroughly enjoyed. The Sign of the FISHDUCK!
