  1. Replays and angles, missed giving you different looks, commentary. No story telling, is what I noticed. To me that is less production and camera talent than the BIG BOYS. I would imagine that it is part of the issue with building the Infrastructure of a Network, the talent, the crew the equipment then the Marketing. Larry had NO idea or game plan. But now it is on the new guy to figure out, how do I build it with TWO. Adam and Eve it brother. . . What have you got to lose after you have already lost Ten to the B1Ger Ten. "Build it and they will come" would that not be fun?
  2. JJ can Dream can't he? Could you insert Oregon in there for Wyoming if that was 25 years ago? Not against Alabama. But you could against Michigan, 16 years ago in Michigan and 2 years ago at the Ohio St. I keep rooting for Appalachian State, to have a Phil Knight and Company movement that brings them to Oregon Heights. I love the little guy, guys like me. Against the Big guys, guys unafraid to go out and get planted in the turf to pop up stronger and more determined. Upset Kings, made the little David's of all of us, against Michigan and the Ohio St Goliaths out there. Everyone has an achilles' heel, it is about finding and taking advantage of it. Never underestimate your rival, winners and conquers take the fight out of the opponent or enemy. That is why you go for that "Pick Six" at the end of the game rather than coast to victory. Being Pro Active rather than Re Active. Confidence building and the Defense, needs that. Sadly, that has to be done. Look at all the Negativity surrounding some of the out comes of the wins. How could anyone want to be a Coach here at Oregon, we sound and act like Alabama or Auburn Fans. Cut our New Coach and his staff a little slack. Love to see some improvement, love to see us be competitive and Win. Hope this Young Coach, brings his spin on building a Winning Program to Oregon and starts his Coaching Tree and putting Great Athletes into the NFL. Cements his status as a Great Coach leading a Great Program, Here at Oregon. "NO" to JJ, that sir is UNHEARD of here at OBD, is it Not? Just so you know, I just like poking the Bear, ask Charles, I often get scolded for it but this is a Great Community with well meaning intents, thanks for letting me Quack a little.
  3. Beat them on the Field, do not take them lightly. Any Day an Underdog can beat you. Ask Michigan, Tennessee, USC and finally Ohio State. Been there done that, took Chip Kelly and Crew to change that and get us a Reservation at two Natties. Miss the Cheese to our Nacho's, Uncle Cliffy do not smoke it all. Keep the focus on the ball, till the Job is Done.
  4. Schooler, he was a TEAM guy. He played where coach needed him. When his brother went to Arizona, I believe he lost his heart. He, to Me, was like Chase Cota but I loved him as a DB too. I was really bummed to see him move on. Still wish him well.
  5. Watched the Post game Video of Dan Lanning, where he said he was yelling for Bassa to "go Down, go down" after his interception. This does NOT happen, if you have a Defense, you have faith in. Pretty scary but in my mind, Coach Lanning, fix the issue with your Defense, adjust find better, do not get locked into something that works right when the world is in synch. This is how Oregon has taken down so many Goliaths in the past. Fighting to their strengths and turning it into a street brawl to survive. Oregon did not always win but they took the shine off many Blue Bloods. Appalachian State almost did it to @ (17)North Carolina the eastern version of Oregon back in the 90's - 2006. As fast as TT took to score, You Have to Keep Playing to WIN, not playing to lose. Protecting a lead with the current defense is not reliable. If the Defense was even a little better, like Nick Aliotti's, he had safeties that could hit and DB's that disrupted routes and timing. Not so much with the scheme now. Pressure, worked the comfort level of Shough. Forced him to make mistakes. Front four DL did well how the LB's and Secondary work is a mess. Forcing Bo to run, is a gamble not worth taking, the Washington game should have showed many. Not the same QB after the injury. No capable back up, if this is THE YEAR to make the last run for the Playoffs in the PAC-12, all the eggs in the basket with Bo. Injuries happen in normal Football, adding to the danger seems a bit crazy. Put Ty in, then they expect the possibilities of run but with first string OL we get Thompson experience and reps, both important to his and the Ducks future. Sure the risks are high but Bo showed how important he is to the team through a 12 game season. I am excited for the PAC-12 in 2023, Two weeks into the season and 8 Conference Teams in the Top 25, feels like we are the SEC for our last season. Let's make it memorable, the pieces are there, now it all rest on pLANNING and execution. Do not sell the ducks short. Blur the lines and Go Ducks!
  6. Huey, Duey and Luey? Sometimes it takes a Flock of Ducks to play a game at Oregon. Blame Chip and his Blur for starting it.
  7. WOW, BFT sure has changed but still needs to be a two arms lengths distance, Trust Issues. JC, Well written the Pirate, would have loved it in a Snarky FNL kind of way. Going to continue to miss him, even when he left Mississippi St for the Big House.
  8. Anything is possible with TT. I agree that improvement was an important step for Ty. It is not about moving the Goal Posts. It is about seeing him in Action being in command at the QB position. Leader of the offense making QB 1 Decisions when stepping in as QB 2. That can happen at anytime and if he is not ready, next man up. I remember when Dennis Dixon went down, we went through three QB's in four games to end the season. The Arizona game we lost Dixon replaced by Brady Leaf who got injured in the UCLA game replaced by Cody Kempt and Justin Roper. Roper started the next season against Washington replaced by Masoli in the first game of the season. That season, Oregon used Roper, Masoli, Chris Harper and Darron Thomas. Bigger and better teams are on the schedule. The team has strong depth at RB. There appears to be capable depth at WR and TE. The OL has good depth that saw action last year, even after losing 4 starters to graduation and eligibility. The pieces are there for a competent QB to succeed. Having the right pieces to match the right scheme with the right Coach with the ball bouncing the right way. Auburn vs Oregon in the BCS Championship game. Was he down, to close to call, officiating. Is this Oregon's year? I would like to think we have a good chance. But How often, does all the signs align. Remember Dennis Dixon, that was the year? Until, it wasn't.
  9. TT faced a defense that had 50 plus points tacked on to it by the time he entered the game in the third quarter, after Bo got his last scoring drive to start the Third Quarter. I give him a grade of B for leading the team and making his passes and handing off with no mis ques. He even recovered from a high snap. To me, better than previous game appearances under Lanning or Cristobal. I also believe real game snaps are important moving forward. He is taller than Bo and I believe heavier but dropping your head to tackles is not wise for a back up. Getting more real snaps, will hopefully get him up to game speed and working on his progressions. Developing that routine and getting comfortable in the pocket should help his flow. He still appears tight and it does not seem second nature to him. It was very nice to see Novastad out there, I did not watch too much after Bo's last score as the wife put me to work, "with the game in hand". On top of that camera shots from the PAC-12 network sucks. The caliber of players are obviously second string and bench but college talent. Oregon, has depth on both sides of the ball, even with a lot of transfers out and New to the Team players. I am so nervous about our secondary playing loose trying to prevent explosions plays. Watched Bassa chasing RB's from behind, DB's with the backs to QB before turning around and contact with WR or RB's. No pass from me for the Defensive calls. With Oregon scoring so much, PSU offense was defeated early and just wanted to get out of Eugene. This is the Oregon that took the steam out of teams during the Chip and first half of the Helf era. Force teams to have to pass to catch up. Then make them make mistakes, fumbles, interceptions and 3 and outs. Oregon's score a point a minute days.
  10. I too, do not believe Oregon was running up the score. Too many Freshman in the game and 3rd stringers. Oregon for the first time, truly has depth and talented recruits. The Alabama's, Georgias and other elite schools have at least Two Deep and their 3's and 4's would be starting at most other colleges. Again, a Great thing to have. But if Bo goes down, do we have Bo 2.0? While Ty did much better, He still looks tight, not loose enough to stay in the pocket and go through his reads. His passing was more accurate but again, the PSU defense played a whole game in the first half. Oregon's season is not about offense, we KNOW we have that. It is about Defense, making stops against Good teams. Then Stopping Great teams to win a Championship. I am not confident we have got there. No Picks, no fumbles but a great recovery on a muffed punt reception. We have already learned that Oregon can have talent. Talent of Coaches and Players but if they are not utilized properly you have mixed results. Who Knew Herbert would be as great of a QB in the NFL as he is? Not the talking Pro Heads of NFL Media. While Bo is a Great Focus for Oregon after a season and Uniforms attract young peoples attention. Winning Titles dots the i's and crosses the t's. It is proven. Chip Kelly and Mark Helfrich are two Oregon Head Coaches whose records are pretty impressive, well the first two years under Helf. Two appearances between them in a National Championship Game. USC(19 years and counting), UCLA(nearly 70 years) or Washington(28 years) no appearance since 2004? Washington had an appearance in a Top 4 Playoff but not a National Championship game. Oregon's last time was 2015, nearly nine years ago. It is Time.
  11. I think what some of the play by play people said was so true. The fact that the offense was on the field so much, took the first team guys out of play. The lack of depth of a PSU squad and the DEPTH of Oregon showed how important good and ready back ups are. BUT I have concerns with the Defense. They play a two deep safety trying to take away the explosion plays, exactly what gassed PSU. Had this been a deeper, talented team, Oregon would be battling. EVERY PAC-12 Team WON this weekend. That is quite amazing. Colorado, Stanford, ASU, Arizona and Cal all showed up for the last year of the PAC-12. I believe the transfer portal is the Great Equalizer for some teams, Colorado one of them. Coach Sanders, seems to inspire the reach deeper, perform at a higher level, what do they have to lose? All I will say is Tosh get your Defense right, Oregon do not overlook any team. Stanford do not be a Giant Killer. Beavers, we owe you and the Dawgs One. Oregon, last year you were on a roll until the tires went flat and you ran out of spares. But you showed up for the Bowl game and that is a Fresh Start I look forward to.
  12. Billboards vs Blue Bloods. Oregon from most schools, has built their program up from taking on the Big Boys. The big paydays of being the practice schools that the Michigan's, Penn States and others paid to take a beating from before the real competition. The foundations for good coaches to seek talent, develop that talent above their expectations and build both sides of the ball to be competitive. Rich Brooks started the work, laid the foundation. Mike Bellotti continued the building of a homegrown team with coaches that found players to develop and teach to excel at a level not realized. The relationship built between Bellotti and Phil Knight helped to extend Oregon's reach to younger kids for future roles and involvement in developing Oregon as a School to seriously consider for sports. Chip Kelly as OC first gave the taste of a "different type of fast football" to the Oregon Arsenal that it was the sign of Bellotti having to move on or lose a trend setting Coach. I may be assuming a little here but Chips work, made famous by the breakdowns of one FISHDUCK Fisher, may have turned the tide for Oregon. Marketing you call it, nah, Phil Knight and Nike! The relationship between a former Alumni's, Phil Knight and former Oregon Track Coach Bill Bowerman, formed the Souls or Soles of Nike. Their marketing of top athletes along with an up and coming sports shoe giant, is Exactly an Oregon story. The Oregon Ducks provided the testing grounds for shoes and apparel while show casing designs and looks that appealed to the masses. The combinations of Style to the masses, opens eyes. Winning and "the Blur" creates excitement and turn heads of potential future prospects. Now, the move to the B1G puts Oregon in front of many Blue Bloods with better exposure for competitive programs. I look forward to this next chapter of the Oregon Sports Programs and Nike Marketing experience. But the Bottom line is Billboards build Exposure, key is to Win and win with STYLE!
  13. Depth, seems to be the key. Having great players like LaMike, Barner then add DAT made for Magic! But having that at all positions and both sides of the ball is key! Seasons are long, injuries happen and it showed when Bo got injured. Oregon has not had a back up QB since Nate Costa and Bryan Bennett. Bryan Bennett was a capable back when Costa went down with the knee injury for Thomas. But elected to transfer when Mariota got the starting job after Thomas elected to enter the draft. I am hoping that Oregon can attract a good back up or two. It would be nice if Ty could, turn the LIGHT on and feel more comfortable, when he does have the chance to run the Offense.
  14. Jaynes and Fentress, PLEASE, Just R E T I R E ! Enjoy it, you both SO FULL of yourselves. Phil/Nike and Oregon created a marketing relationship that other schools, NOW embrace. Even Nick Saban, is singing praise of the Blur Offense, that was going to increase injuries to players and damage College Football for generations to come. Phil, Nike and the "O" knows Football Marketing, be BOdacious, Fly with the Flock!
  15. Prayers and Best Wishes on a Quick and Full Recovery for the both of you. I would venture a guess that Charles and others(to include myself) appreciate the time and effort you have put in to Fish Ducks content. You are missed, I am sure. Get well and I hope we see your contributions soon. Go PA Ducks, get better soon!
  16. A Code of Conduct, would not be limited to what one does on Campus but as a member of the Team. IE; J Masoli and D Thomas in Springfield by SPD, if I recall correctly. Suspension, may have been the first consideration, until all the facts vetted. But the Social Media Storm, went so Negative so Fast, I get the fast response, time to Move On. Less Distraction to the team. I too, believe, an honest evaluation needs to be conducted, better done right, than to continue a wrong. Messages to future Recruits and Staff.
  17. Simple, Come to play for Oregon to have chances at National Championship, or go home. Choices have consequences. You can have some fun, get an education but you are here to do a job, let's get to work. Looks like the Culture is being established. DL is not fooling around, especially with the MSU incident fresh in the mind.
  18. First off, I will be honest, have not read the article yet but here is my gut reaction. Both RB's, really all three, seemed to stay healthy all year. It will help them moving forward if they are lucky enough to go to the NFL or CFL. Not all are lucky to end their collegiate careers without a major issue health wise. Think Travis Dye while at USC, our former workhorse. Coach Locklyn, has not let us down, although many original RB's of the team have transferred out. The talent that has transferred in along with recruits of the 2023 class, appears promising. Lots of talent, going to challenge each other.
  19. Mario gets a Mulligan Year, thanks to Nick Saban. Take advantage of your Free Drop Mario.
  20. As a former violator myself, I am proud of my enrollment in the OBD 12 step Program. It has helped me immensely. I am now a better informed and responsible Fish Duck participant. Hooked on Ducks athletics and other Duckly endeavors. My Duck Safe Space has been achieved with the help of Charles et al, whom I have not met yet. On a serious note, Charles you keep being you. Since I have enjoyed your posts from 2008/09? Man I can not recall but the videos of you explaining what CHIP was doing, here at Oregon, I have been all in. One can tell, the LOVE one has for the time and effort put into Fish Duck and the OBD Forums. I wish you a GREAT 2023 and beyond, to that first Oregon National Championship, shared on your sight. I think we are close Charles. Never stop being YOU. Thank you for allowing us to share in the love of everything Ducky. Sincerely, Kevin EzDucksIt Gerlach
  21. This along with fixing the secondary issues. We need some physical safeties that disrupt routes, timing, make the QB have to wait. When we play physical on the receivers, we buy time for our DL to get into the QB's zip code! Second on the list, QB depth. Need a capable back up, no more excuses. If Bo runs a lot, the injury at the end of the season, kills the offense. See Dennis Dixon, Vernon Adams Jr and Bo Nix. Don't wait for a back up plan after the QB goes down.
  22. Sometimes, your path has to take a different direction, to grow more. I love the fact that Cam, put in the work to rehab, even after he suffered multiple injuries. Pharaoh Brown, put in the time and work to rehab and return to the team after his terrible injury. Andre Yruretagoyena, was an OL that got injured several times and finally medically retired. If I recall correctly, there was an article that related, that he was tired of the rehab and reinjuries. Some just want to move on in life and focus on other things. You really can not blame them. Just wish them the Best and hope they realize their dreams.
  23. Love the way you handle your Beer Charles. Did not spill a drop, good form.
  24. Not Bad Georgia, You put away any competition you faced. You deserved this NCG. Makes me feel better about Oregons 3-49 beat down. Sorry Frogs but you took the burn off our Season Opener with a New Coaching Staff.
