  1. Gabriel tied Danny O'Neil for the most completions in Oregon history for a single game. Gabriel was also tenth all-time in attempts, and is eighth for single game completion percentage. The guys 1-7 had a lot fewer attempts. But, the ten receivers who caught a ball combined for an average of 9.3 yds per completion. The longest was 24 yds. Last year at Oklahoma his average for the season was 13.75 yds. I have no clue, but maybe there were too many receiver substitutions going on? How do you develop comfort and rhythm with TEs, RBs, WRs when they are shuffling? Maybe that was part of the reason for short throws? I agree the O-line has some remedial learning in practice this week.
  2. Some resemblance to that 2021 game when Montana beat UW in Seattle.
  3. from Wilner's column today....“Announced in December, the scheduling partnership provided both OSU and WSU with six games against Mountain West schools (three home, three away) for the 2024 season …For the 2024 season, the Pac-12 schools will pay the Mountain West approximately $15 million, which includes an administrative fee, participation fee and scheduling fee (for each game in Corvallis and Pullman).” So, UW and UO get rocks thrown by OSU fans over the half-shares (which are actually half media portion shares, not half total B1G revenue shares). How does paying another conference for opponents differ from taking less in media revenue? Both mean less to have a conference affiliation?
  4. Interesting piece in The Athletic today about Big12. Still interested in UConn, and reasons why they are. But, no conjecture about WSU/OS. None. Zip. Nada.
  5. Wisconsin added a $5.5 million field heating system at Camp Randall in the off season. Said it wasn't necessarily for November games, but rather in the event they host Playoff games in December. With eye on expanded playoffs, Wisconsin begins implementing heated field at Camp Randall Stadium WWW.JSONLINE.COM With an eye toward December football in the years ahead, the Wisconsin football program has begun installing a heated field surface.
  6. The Tulane starter Mensah has a sister who plays soccer for Oregon.
  7. If you watch, listen, read about college football nationwide, then you are familiar with the humorous SEC Shorts videos that have been produced for several years. Here is one from earlier this summer that may draw a chuckle.... you'll have to watch at least until the 3:25-in mark to catch the significance of why I'm posting. SEC Shorts - Oklahoma and Texas join the SEC | The Longhorns and... WWW.FACEBOOK.COM The Longhorns and Sooners finally arrive. They are fun to check in on during the season. The guys (and a gal) are very creative with their humor.
  8. "There are no easy games in this league." "We didn't make enough plays to win this one." "The game was really a lot closer than the final score would indicate."
  9. When the Big Ten Network launched in 2007 there was a dispute with Comcast that lasted until the 2008 season. It took a year to resolve for Comcast to show B1GNetwork. Subsequently there have been more Comcast disputes, and "negotiation holds" with other carriers. It is not new, and the only option for subscribers is to call Comcast and complain. Links below are just two examples: https://publish.illinois.edu/illinoisblj/2008/04/03/wait-til-next-year-when-will-comcast-and-the-big-ten-network-reach-an-agreement/ https://deadline.com/2018/08/comcast-fox-settle-big-ten-network-carriage-dispute-college-football-1202452085/
  10. Saban’s first season was 2007. From 2007 to 2023 (2020 COVID year) Alabama schedule included: At Penn State, at Duke, at Texas as only three true Power 5 regular season road games. 7 “neutral” games in Atlanta 3 in Arlington 1 in Orlando 1 in Jacksonville At least Byrne has turned the ship so there will now be true road games at non-SEC opponent venues. Getting Saban to play at Texas in 2022 must have taken a LOT of arm twisting.
  11. Alabama future opponents 2024 – at Wisconsin 2025 – at Florida St, Wisconsin 2026 – at W. Virginia, Florida St 2027 – W. Virginia, at Ohio St 2028 – Ohio St, at Oklahoma St 2029 – at Notre Dame, Oklahoma St 2030 – at Georgia Tech, Notre Dame 2031 – Georgia Tech, at Boston College 2032 – Arizona, at Minnesota 2033 – at Arizona, Minnesota 2034 – at Virginia Tech, Boston College 2035 – Virginia Tech (Minnesota replaced Oklahoma (now SEC) in 2032 and 2033 schedule. Oregon must not have crossed his mind?) I believe Alabama's last regular season game in the Pacific Time Zone was the loss at UCLA in 2000.
  12. The 2023 starting QB for Idaho, who took them to two games in the FCS playoff, transferred in the off-season to Oregon State. He was announced as the Beav's starting QB this Saturday facing Idaho State. He was injured and did not play Idaho State last season. His replacement in that game will be the starter against Oregon.
  13. Dublin 2025: Iowa St vs Kansas St Dublin 2026: ? Dublin 2027: Wisconsin vs Pitt Today, at Midnight Eastern time Delaware St played Hawaii in Honolulu. The game was scheduled to end about 3:15 am Eastern. There is 6 hours time difference between Delaware and Hawaii. The game kicked at 6:00 pm local, getting over about 9:15 pm local. There is 5 hours time difference between Tallahassee/Atlanta and Dublin.
  14. SMU ...a 27-1/2 pt favorite....survives in Reno scoring the winning TD 29-24 with under two minutes remaining. Never led until that score. Start of fourth Q it was 14-24.
  15. Oregon as a state...about 12 percent Irish ancestry. The Sheldon Irish in Eugene. The Ducks: green, Pat Kilkenny, a shamrock on the MKA floor. Oregonian's fondness for beer. I've been to Dublin and there are other European cities I prefer. But, they didn't have Ducks football either.
  16. This USA Today column says it was after the Cotton Bowl 1-1-96 loss to Colorado. And, that's what I've understood for years. Brooks was still coach 1-2-95 On 2-10-95 he became coach of the Rams. Behind Oregon's (Phil) Knight in shining armor WWW.USATODAY.COM The founder looks back on the the Ducks' journey from also ran to national title contender.
  17. "I thought that the ball was handed to Kaufman 3 or 4 times before the fatal throw for the interception, but then, my memory might be faulty too." Kaufman did not carry the ball on the fatal fuskies drive, though he was the target of a failed pass attempt. He had over 20 carries for over 100 yds earlier in the game. 2:40 fuskies return the kickoff to the UW 24 pass to UW 32 pass to OR 45 - first down 3 incomplete passes 4th down pass to OR 31 - first down incomplete pass 1:42 incomplete pass Huard runs 11 yds to the OR 20 - first down incomplete pass pass to the OR 8 - first down 1:05 The Pick On the 8 yd line with 1:05 left there were other options. Fortunately, Huard chose the wrong one.

  19. Sunday morning....Well now, where'd ya get all those athletes...
  20. And, more from Rosemont....apparently the breakroom at B1G Headquarters...
  21. "...allowed to retain 100% of its bowl/college football playoff earnings" Bowls, NCAA Tournament and CFP earnings are split equally with all schools in the conference, I believe. (i.e. 100 percent shares) While UW and UO start with 50 percent shares of the media deal portion. It might make an interesting twist if CFP participants were awarded two shares? That is, for example, if 3 teams qualified then the "conference pool" would be split 21 ways (not 18) with each of 3 participants getting two shares. Some formula like that might have saved the departure of UT & OU, and USC & UCLA?? Fox drove the train for USC/UCLA full shares. Had to be an irritant to Nebraska, Rutgers and Maryland.
  22. Duck at Rosemont, Illinois Big Ten Headquarters (near O'Hare Airport)
  23. As the UW explained at that time.... a large "maybe" with the Apple deal was incentives which were a big risk factor for revenue; and, there was no linear component lined up at that time. UW was very aware of what that might mean for recruiting going forward. Ultimately, OS and WSU were certainly interested in a linear component as well which they found with The CW, albeit at a low payout. Some of Beavs fans made fun of the UW for seeking a linear guarantee, now they are touting the "visibility" that comes from the number of households with access to The CW.
