  1. If the NIL and student athlete agents structure the contracts to each other's satisfaction then there would be no issues. But with NIL signing families I'm doubtful these NIL contracts are consistently equitable.
  2. It will conform to Title IX. I think this may be a non-starter. This is a dangerous period in college athletics.Thry is so much money flowing around that came from media deals that will not be worth as much in the future in a streaming paradigm, yet people are trying to set up a new framework that assumes the good time will continue. If that ends up being the case, ALL the changes occurring for conference realignment and program investments will blow up in their face and will be undone. I don't think we will settle on a long term via ble approach to college athletics for more than a decade.
  3. Huston portalled the right way. He stuck around on the team being a great teammate, even participating on the practice squad. During one of the receiver scores in the CG the receiver ran over to Huston first for a chest bump. He did all this while preserving a redshirt. Probably got his degree too. Now he can go somewhere else and ball out as a starter. Maybe he'll join up with DGU, his HS buddy that had fantastic chemistry on the field.
  4. He was my top choice over Cam Ward. This is the type of individual we should be looking for in the portal. Experienced, high floor individuals. Let our HS recruits come in being judged by their ceiling. Let player evaluation and development take care of the rest.
  5. https://www.si.com/college/oregon/history/marcus-arroyo-joins-kenny-dillinghams-staff-as-asu-offensive-coordinator Maybe I'm being too harsh on Arroyo, that he perhaps was another victim of MC imposing his will. Dilly is going to find out.
  6. Just by the numbers we will be 3 times more likely to make the playoffs. The PAC12 with Utah was never easy and the B1G won't be any easier. We trade Utah for Penn State and add Ohio State and Michigan. Gaining respect will be MUCH easier. Road games will be harder due to longer travel travels, very different environments/climates, which means home field advantage will be worth more than 3 points, maybe 5 or 6 points. As far as Oregon as a team goes, having a top 3 or top 5 QB every year is tough. Look at the blue bloods struggles this year. Outside of that, if we keep recruiting top 10 classes with our coaches' player evaluation ability and development we should be in the thick of conversation in November every year.
  7. Getting trained in sports psychology should make someone react worse. I interpreted Holly's statement as Bo started doing it between end of last year and start of this one, not something he start this past week.
  8. I wonder if FSU would boycott their bowl game as a protest? I'd like us to boycott the Fiesta for the obvious fact there is nothing It's just such a massive let down considering yesterday we thought our opponent was going to come out of a pool of Texas, Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia and FSU. But your right, and furthermore if this was the 12 team playoff format we could very well have this same opponent as the top G5 team.
  9. I'd like to play Bama simply because we never have. Already played Georgia and Ohio State.
  10. He wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't say those things. You've got one spot left for 1 loss Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, and Texas. This is the most likely scenario there was for the SEC to get left out based on Committee preferences so far FSU is undefeated and was impressive on the defensive side enough to earn a spot, Texas has been boxing out Bama all season and their destruction of their competition and a conference title doesn't give Bama an excuse to jump them with their barely-a-win in their conference game against Georgia. It's really going to come down to how much the committee values a Conference Champion. Given their clear bias towards deserving vs. best, I think conference championships are a trump card. OSU and Georgia are out. Bama can't jump Texas and FSU ain't dropping, being undefeated.
  11. Hearing Caleb Williams allude to possibly playing in the Leftover's Bowl makes me wonder if the NIL folks have leverage in different forms to get NFL-bound players to play either by contract requirements or by extra cash incentive. You can certainly envision boosters saying "Hey! We payed you a million dollars to play this season, and you're gonna play the whole season!" You can also envision players forced to play treating it like the NFL Pro Bowl where injury avoidance to the n-th degree takes precedence over the quality of their play.
  12. Playoff selection is shaping up to be a mess where only the fans of 4 teams are actually happy with the outcome. Frankly, even if we'd somehow managed to sneak out a win yesterday despite our horrid start I don't think it would've been enough to get in, which would have just made us the ultimate spoiler of PAC12 participation in the playoffs. Of course we will never know. The only outcome that would make me truly happy is to see the SEC left out. I'd get a laugh out of that.
  13. Reasons I saw: UW felt like, and played like the underdog that had play their hardest to win. Our defensive players were reactionary instead of anticipatory in every facet the first 20 minutes. They were even slow reacting to the snap. Bo turned into nervous Bad Bo for the first 2 series. Happy feet, poor reads and poor throws. Poor first 20 minutes got our defense worn out hands on hips by the end of the first half. Every UW route tree was specifically designed for our coverage schemes to generate blown coverages and mismatches with crosses and screening, jumbling our guys five yards off the ball. Their run game plan was classic Chip Kelly. spread the DL horizontally and shoot a gap vertical when it opens. We did not ride the hot hand James when Bucky was ineffective. In short we played not to lose, and UW Coordinator's were two steps ahead knowing what we were going to do schematically, and our coaches didn't conceive that was possible. What went right consistently? Penalties didn't hurt too much. Tez, Ferg and... LEWIS -Dude came ready to play and kick a game winning field goal. Every kick was dead center with distance. Never got his chance for redemption.
  14. It's not just you. Our coaches could have totally dropped interest in him, and he took the hint. I'm glad that cleared space for someone else with more than a 2% chance of ever being the starter.
  15. Yeah while in bed trying to fall asleep last night my thought was we'd probably take 3 out of 10 tries. They are simply a little better than us when we play them.
  16. There was one angle showing the pass was going to be slightly behind Franklin. With the defender so close I assumed it was going to be broken up anyway.
  17. I have no clue who the Doc is or what he wrote, but we're all in a bad mood including yourself. So please make sure you take deep breath and give us a little grace before swinging the ban hammer please.
  18. The players were flat footed for the first 20 minutes, reactive instead of attacking. A reflection of their leader I guess.
  19. Both teams have a large number of transfers. It's like Deboer get the players to believe they are Huskies and truly want to destroy the ducks and Dan gets our players to believe the rivalry is important to the Oregon program and fans so we don't want to lose.
  20. Drinking and driving is really bad. That being said, I don't blame any Beavers for drowning their sorrows at this point though. They lost the civil war bad, fantastic HC left them along with ten of the conference teams. That's a lot of loss to deal with.
  21. In the video the receiver extends his arm which is often an indicator of but the DB wasn't pushed off his spot, and didn't even complain. Yeah, unlike PAC12 Refs, they let the rivals play. Was it the Washington rivalry game where they threw a questionable pi flag that had the announcer really miffed? As much as it is all of our worst nightmare, it is well within the realm of possibility (and would be modus operandi) for the PAC12 Refs to give the game to UW on an extremely questionable PI call on our DBs, despite it being the championship to determine who goes to the playoffs.
  22. Rib injuries can heal quick, but Penix never took time off and has continued to take hits which could reinjure the area, greatly increasing the time to heal. We really can't say if he's fully recovered. Perhaps the sack at the end of the WSU game really reinjured it, who knows?
  23. Logical deduction would say TJ ruined Penix season, but who really knows. He's also likely been struggling with long covid, with people mentioning he's been having immune system issues basically since the ASU game. Both the injury and and sickness issues would impact the amount of practice he can get, and would certainly make it much harder to maintain composure throwing when under duress. I would hope at this point we've learned that the only wrong strategy with Penix is not pressuring him. You need to do it every single time he drops back. If you have to be one on one with the receivers, then so be it.
  24. DeBoer has done more with less in terms of utilizing the talent he has on his roster. Lanning has done more with less in terms of acquiring talent in a state that doesn't have much locally. DeBoer's Coordinators have out schemed us in both games both coming into the game and in game adjustments. That being said, I do think that since the last game Lanning has been closing the game in maximizing talent and Coordinator scheming. OC Grub nearly blew the game against WSU calling passes when runs were in order, and UW fans have been saying his play calling has been very inconsistent, like the rest of the team.
  25. Vegas is it's own draw if you are traveling, there could be a lot of looky-loos that aren't fans of either team, but wanting to see a great football game. Again, this is likely a playoff quarterfinal. Great reasons to draw a full house at an NFL stadium in a neutral site.
