Ruh-Roh! Buckeyes Take ANOTHER Hit on Offensive Line...
MicroBurst61 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
May be just enough of a loss to allow an Indiana team to better compete with tOSU late in the fourth quarter. Should be "a game"! Nice to be able to sit back this week and let the chaos reign around us. Go Ducks! -
Psychopathic/Crazy like a fox. The dude Is "The Dude!" So lucky he enjoys Eugenian green grass. Let's keep that grass well watered! Go Ducks!

Hell, honestly I think he "portals" in to those spots against the zone. He Always seems to find that one seam! Yes we need him 100% going into the postseason. Go Ducks!

Hear That?! Sounded like a collective groan from all the corners, safeties, and linebackers who now have Mr Tez Johnson back on their plate. Sucks to be you.

I think it was made clear when a month or so ago the playoff committee said they would NOT avoid conference rematches in the playoffs. Here's what I think the playoff committee has in store for the Ducks and the field. Primary focus. One SEC team in Each bracket. Two: Load up one half (side) of the bracket with the B1G teams. Three: If the wins and losses fall "correctly" the committee would Love to see Oregon have to play...Boise St / Alabama, Miami, then Georgia in the championship. The narratives and storylines for the pundits to talk about for that playoff month would be music to their ears if this were come to pass. Which if the Ducks "won-out" against that "wind" would have to be considered the best college football champion of all times. Of course if they Lost any of those along the way it would be "fodder" for the talking heads. In two years the conference championship games WILL be the first round of (seeding) the playoffs or will be eliminated all together. Either way dem Ducks are going roll!!! Go Ducks!

Oregon Ducks Football: Just Win.
MicroBurst61 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yeah, if I am remembering correctly didn't DL, at the B1G media days, have something to say about The B1G having to adjust to Oregon instead of the other way around? Nice Try B1G. Maybe next year you can schedule OBD to a 13 game schedule to everyone else's 12. 9 game straight, 6 on the road (three of those at night @tOSU, Mich., Penn St), conference schedule. Oh and DL banned from the sidelines for three of the other games for "innovation and loophole" personal foul penalty. Then maybe, just maybe, the B1G and OBD will actually Be on a level playing field. GO QUACKERS! -
Oregon Ducks Football: Just Win.
MicroBurst61 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This game had all the vibes of an OR/STAN game back when Stanford was relevant. Oregon football has always had a letdown game or two each season. Stanford, Washington St., California, AZ schools in the desert, have all given highly ranked, championship, caliber OBD teams fits in the past. This last game was no different than any of those others, except it was now a B1G conference foe. I would argue that this was probably one of the better games of the year for OBD. Hostile environment, at night, #1 team "target on you back", eighth conference game in a row with no bye, playing a team that is coming off of a bye AND could have had two more wins than they actually did coming into the game. To execute a game plan, substandard to OBD "standards", and not let a game, which in the past OBD may have actually lost, not get away from them, and to do so in seemingly confident fashion (OBD did seem frustrated but never panicked), makes this a game that will serve them well in the playoffs. It is important for a team to learn how to win ugly just As much as winning through a "complete" game. Championship teams do both! 's -
2024 CFB Playoff Information, Rankings Show Results 11/12/24,

Look, I know this is all about "subjectivity" but am becoming just a wee bit concerned with the "talkin' heads" (especially ESPN); seemingly starting to "spin" conference strength, viability, and overall quality in a manner that appears to be modeled after the way that "the subject that shall remain unnamed" has been "spun" to the masses the past quarter century. I follow athletics, especially college athletics, to have a "safe place" to retreat away from all the , that is constantly fed to Us, ad nauseum. It really "pisses me off" to see the same "narratives" starting to also creep into and be pushed in my escapee activities. The world is NOT black & white, but in fact mostly gray. STOP trying to make everything about us vs them, you vs me, right vs wrong(?) and let us fans "enjoy" the product we so love to immerse ourselves in WITHOUT it being another tool to help sway the masses. Let us be free from it all, Please! I just want to watch OBD bring home a Natty without any narratives outside of the game, athletes, and coaches. Let's GO DUCKS! -
OBD Prediction Contest vs. Wisconsin: Join the Fun!
MicroBurst61 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
At the beginning of the year I was seeing this as an end of 8game conf stretch letdown game in nasty conditions losing like 28-27. After last week's game I don't see that happening like I expected. That being said: Ducks Win! 39-13 1 TO 2 SKS 272 P.Y. -
By design I am sure. The "owners" of those multi-millions of dollars want to make sure the "playoffs" maximize, those multi-millions of dollars. By making sure the "playoffs" closely resemble the business model/predictor that "promises" the maximum return on those multi-millions of dollars. In order to pay-out the multi-millions of dollars to television contracts promised to all those football conferences for their football products "for sale" for multi-millions of dollars. In order to guarantee to add multi-millions of dollars, to their already rather large amounts of multi-millions of dollars. You know. Just like the Mom & Pop store down the road!

Ohhhhh...so now I get what Dan meant when saying the "Grass is pretty Damn Green in Eugene"... euphemism for $$$$$. Silly me. Well in a lil over two months I fully expect Dan's adopted home to get a whole lot "greener" for him, as he returns "home" with some "Natty" hardware to go along with, and bolster, all that "green"! You can have our Dan Lanning when you pry him from Duck fans "Cold Dead Feathers!" Ain't gonna 'appen.

Yawn...We Are SO BORED With Being No. 1...
MicroBurst61 replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Lol...isn't there a television commercial currently running about a bank being "boring" and how "boring" is actually what you want?! Well if I have to be "bored" all the way to the National Championship, then bring it on! Cause I have had more than my fair share of "Duck Stress" to last the rest of my lifetime. I could use a little "boring". -
Will Prime be the Coach of "America's Team" Next Season?
MicroBurst61 replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
They are "meant" for each other! The "Ego" clash would be....Epic! With Jimmy Johnson Laughing his butt off at the spectacle. Now THAT's "Reality TV" I could actually get into. -
Just ask Paul "Fawn"baum. He'll sort it all out by repeating his choices "ad nauseum", morning, noon, and night! Being the definitive expert on the "superior" football conference in the history of all football conferences, now or in the future. Of course the SEC needs FIVE teams in this year since it wouldn't be fair to all those poor 2loss teams that wouldn't have two losses if they weren't playing in such a tough, tough, conference. (Also why next week is "beat down a G5 team in the SEC, Sooo Hard to play another conference game). It's not cannabalizing each other, it's putting on display the overwhelming toughness of the SEC. There fixed it for the committee. Just get Paul on board the committee and we be good!

Oregon Ducks Football: What We Learned vs Maryland
MicroBurst61 replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is becoming more and more apparent, as the Dan Lanning Era at Oregon Rises. So much so that college football "pundits" are taking notice at the national level along with other high profile football programs. Even us fans are starting to "see" a difference on how Oregon approaches roster management and, more importantly, the "human" psyque management, something that DL excels at, almost to the point of "gifted". Because of DL and company, Oregon Football may be positioned the best to "manage" the intricacies of the new NFL-Lite more than any other D-1 program. We haven't even begun to see the benefits of this fact. Go Ducks! -

Ducks Women Basketball (3-0) Stand Tall in Upset Win
MicroBurst61 replied to Jemangi's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I myself found the final quarter, riveting. Baylor played some real "BullyBall" to scrap back in it, but unlike the previous few years the Damsel Ducks did Not panic, hit their free throws, and played fundamentally sound and tenacious D to seal the victory! GREAT early season win AND the first time I have felt a little confidence for the upcoming season. Let Go Ducks! -
Oregon vs Maryland Post Game Discussion Thread
MicroBurst61 replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
There Are letdown games for All teams. Maryland was an "average" opponent with some outstanding receivers. No run game to speak of and a game manager QB (thank God no DG type on that side of the ball). HOWever they were 4-4 (now 4-5) and Obviously came ready to play after a two week prep and heal time. Oh yeah and there is that little thing, growing by the week, of a target on your back! Sloppy, unfocused game for sure with WAY too many Penalties, but I never really felt the Ducks would be challenged for the win. With a better team, this game would have become a trap game! I don't expect any "carryover" going into Wisconsin. And hopefully by the second quarter any concerns about this game will have been forgotten. 10-0 Babe! 's -

Payton Pritchard per Doc Rivers "Little Pest . . ."
MicroBurst61 replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Payton Pritchard remains one of my absolute favorite OBD basketball alums. "Pest" "Gymrat" are perfect descriptions for him. So glad that he has his Ring and has become pivotal to the Celtic organization. He has worked hard and is deserving of all his current successes. Men Of Oregon - Go Ducks!- 1 reply

NCAA Overturns Targeting Call on Buckeye Defender
MicroBurst61 replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Once the NFL owners lost the class action suit And strike demands from the players union, regarding CTE and head injuries it has (purposely) been a continued focus regarding the elimination of head injuries. Forcing the team owners to use some of all that sweet, sweet profit from use of players bodies (and minds) to...God forbid...take care of the men that are the basis of all that sweet, sweet profit. Primarily because of these dynamics, football at all levels, have severely scaled back the inherent "violence" associated with 250+ lbs, athletic human beings colliding with each other week in and week out, throughout their careers. Has it fundamentally changed the game? Absolutely. Does it make it less entertaining? Absolutely Not. But the "over emphasis" regarding penalizing, to the max, any hit above the shoulders, is hampering free flowing football play and needs to be addressed. I had read somewhere, sometime ago, that the need to have different levels of "targeting" would help in keeping players safe while maintaining the flow, and spirit of the game. If launching at another player, with head on head contact (ie: what we consider a classic example of targeting) then the current rule and penalty applies. However have a second level of "incidental" targeting for times like this tOSU/Neb call. Maybe along the lines of a 15 yd, personal foul penalty but with no ejections. Football is always going to be an evolving sport and I am glad that there are real world attempts at making it safer for it's participants. There just needs to be some balance and consistency in officiating these types of plays. Everyone in football "knows and coaches" current proper tackling techniques. There is no longer a reason to go "overboard" when officiating potential targeting calls. Let's hope for the sake of the quality of the game that this gets addressed at all levels of football. Until then though, GO DUCKS!
