I think there is still an out with the ACC, it just happens to be reported at nearly $600M

Whoa! A Recruiting Vacuum from the Departure of Saban and Harbaugh is Filled by Lanning?
There’s definitely a vacuum, ask Lane

Would TV Execs WORK with Taylor Swift...for Ratings?
My opinion - This stuff cracks me up. Swift is a billionaire so I doubt this is all contrived as some specific “groups” are theorizing. She has 300M followers on Instagram and FB alone. She’s got ten other ways to make more $$ aside from what be a very time consuming hoax. No doubt ESPN, the NFL, and Kelce are capitalizing on the situation, as they should, but it seems improbable that she would enter into this as a sham. i mean seriously, a TE from KC isn’t who you’d use if this was pure fiction.

Hapless Husky Recruiting Descends Further...
It is interesting though, that we’ve had hoops and football players transfer to UW (and OSU) the last couple years and it didn’t seem to cause a huge uproar. Probably boils down to our players left to get playing time, their players leave to be at a better program.

Hapless Husky Recruiting Descends Further...
I heard some of his show while driving around, similar vein. He’s gotta be in a bit of conundrum overall with realignment. Purposefully obtuse to ring up likes and calls to the show. He’s certainly whiffed on a lot of “sources” the last year and change, more “clownzano” than ever before in my book.

Great post! NIL is pretty much binary, it is or it isn’t. Your analogies are very helpful.

2024 BIG Info, Predictions, Etc
Agree that’s great for us if true, as it’s nonsense. Another DL add would be nice, but “major need”? Drama mama. What’s funny is how arbitrary the teams on this list are and who isn’t on there. ND? Michigan? Texas? No needs? Other thing that cracked me up a bit, “meet their 2024 goals”. What’s the goal of FSU, shooting for undefeated again? Oklahoma, PSU, and LSU? Are they contenders? Goals to do what, win 9 games? I mean Oregon State thinks they can go undefeated as a goal, why not put them up there? 🙃

Men's Basketball - February "CRUNCH" time.
Not to be a downer, as I appreciate the enthusiasm, but to me that game felt like a possible deathblow to our at-large hopes. Prior to the UA game I thought we needed to win out at home and have no more than 2 road losses the rest of the way to get an at-large bid. Starting out with an underwhelming loss at home (to a team both OSU and WSU beat at home) in that stretch does not bode well. We might be able to still squeak in if we lose to Arizona again, but run the table otherwise. We also have a decent chance of winning the PAC tourney for the auto, but that’s always a tough thing to count on. I believe that being so much more inside oriented now completely changes our offensive flow and how teams defend us, and also makes us less effective at defending the 3. Difficult transition to make in late January. I do enjoy watching this team and will continue to do so, but we just don’t have any “quality” wins when it come to the tourney.

Muhammad to Oregon: Think the Huskies Are FINE With It?
UW probably couldn’t field a team next year without transfers, I’m sure they’ll start all underclassmen to do things the right way. They sound exactly like the Beavers…hmmm

How Much Interest Do You Have in Other Duck Sports?
Football definitely first. I used to consider it a failure if I saw fewer than 9 games per season in person, but that went away for me about 15 years ago. (TV, children, and living on the other side of the country for a bit all contributed to this) I used to be pretty fanatical about men’s hoops, but that has faded a lot, still watch most games, but don’t go crazy if I miss us playing Cal. The rest I’m a complete fair weather fan, if a team is in the hunt, I’ll pay attention. Definitely was different when I lived in Eugene.

Quaaack! Washington CB Jabbar Muhammad Is a Duck
We’re going to lose players in the spring portal as well, have to build the best roster you can, when you can. Secondary wasn’t exactly a strength last year, if anyone in waiting was actually that good they would have played. That being said, this is exactly why I usually only pay attention to the macro aspect of recruiting and don’t get attached to any names until the season starts.

Ducks vs Arizona Basketball Game Thread
We’re obsessed with going inside, guard play is what actually matters and I think our chemistry has been submarined. Shelsted will not score 15+ with this lineup. The D and transition game have gone downhill. Arizona lost on the road to OSU and WSU…this ain’t good.

Merchandise Off Dan Lanning's Words About Oregon...
Cool shirt! Dumpster fire that isn’t measuring up in the SEC that just added Texas. Any non-alum from the power 2 taking that gig is certifiable. Barnes might look though.

Mens Basketball: Ducks Win Massive Benchmark Game?
We still have Arizona twice, LA schools on the road, and Mountain teams at home. It ain’t much, but going 5-1 in those games would probably get us in, assuming no more than 1 other random loss. Those 6 games are critical for an at large. Another thing that would help is another team stepping up and finishing strong. If everyone keeps never winning on the road we’re getting one team in.
-
Mens Basketball: Ducks Win Massive Benchmark Game?
I should add, part of my reasoning as to why OSU beating UA will cost the Pac2 is that Arizona will be at 6 losses when we beat them, which may well leave the current PAC with zero ranked teams. There are very few quality wins to be had, when the team in first place in late January isn’t even “receiving votes”, fewer teams in tourney this year = less future earning for conference.

Mens Basketball: Ducks Win Massive Benchmark Game?
I think that’s a reflection of where college basketball is generally at. I have watched zero college hoops games (in their entirety) that didn’t involve the Ducks this year. ASU has also never drawn well for us. Turned a corner? Maybe, we were already in first place in late January, but I do think we can do some serious damage being at full strength. Looking more and more like we’d better do something crazy like only lose 1-2 more games, or we’ll have to win the pac tourney to get in. Arizona at this point looks like the only team that can get in without the auto-bid. Funny thing, OSU beating UA may end up costing the pac2 millions of dollars in future tourney units.

Cool! Jan. 24th Jabbar Muhammad Update!
Coolio. I don’t get into the micro level with players much, but will make an exception in this case. Highly coveted player AND former UW player going to us would bring many purple tears to the world.

Has the First Look at Broadcast Future Arrived?
Interesting tech. Have to question the broad marketability though. We’re talking a group outing for a high-end, immersive TV experience, which is cool, but for how much $$? Would someone spend $100 (more?) to see the Ducks play a fancy TV broadcast, in LA? I could see this working for fights, anything that isn’t regional, or when you can’t get a ticket otherwise (if they had portable units they could locate near the big event you couldn’t get tickets too, such as the Super Bowl). Special events maybe, but regular season college football?

Ducks Flying High: Updated Top 25 for 2024
Definitely, I think the new Big12 has 6 teams ranked on that list, major grain of salt. As to UW, impossible to say for sure, but they were gutted. I’m sure Will Rogers is a fine qb, but we saw how well CU did with a roster of all transfers last year. I personally have UW’s ceiling at 7 wins. I’d say 6-6 is their over/under, barring a massive spring portal.

Ducks Flying High: Updated Top 25 for 2024
Great to be the only relevant team in Oregon! As to our primary rival, I think UW was just a particularly bad matchup for us in 2023, their greatest strength against our greatest weakness, and it was just enough to squeak by us. Michigan also happened to have the best D in the country in 2023, sign stealing or otherwise. I don’t take any greater meaning from it.
