Oregon is No.1, Ohio State is desperate to get a spot in the expanded Playoffs, USC & Washington are playing for bowl eligibility. Forget Michigan. For Ryan Day, Penn State might be the most important game SATURDAYTRADITION.COM Ohio State doesn't have any wiggle room left. It has to beat Penn State to stay in contention to reach the B1G title game ... and...

Oregon and Its 14 Transfer Starters Just Beginning to "Jell"
30Duck replied to Desert Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Outstanding article, and I don't know what kind of work the other Oregon Natty contenders put in, but I'm thinking it doesn't come close to this Oregon team. Not only is the talent and physicality unmatched by any Duck team, the work, the recruiting, the camaraderie is why this team is legit. And they'll just get better. I believe what Harmon says, "We're just scratching the surface. We've still got a lot of work to do. But once we hit that peak, people are going to know it."- 1 reply

Four out of the B1G's 18 teams have emerged as contenders. USC is 4 plays away from being on top of course and will spend the rest of the season fighting for bowl eligibility. Ohio State's talent is obvious, but its having trouble lately finding its game. Indiana is living the dream, but it could get a wake up call as the competition stiffens from now on. Penn State hosts Ohio State this week. Penn State hasn't beaten Ohio State in a long time, but Ohio State needs to win this one. Oregon needs to keep on keeping on against Michigan. Upsets did seem more likely in the Pac-12 than they do in the B1G. The bottom 14 can knock off each other but are unlikely to take down any of the top 4. The top 4 are the most complete teams, their offensive diversity, strength in the trenches and defensive backs standout.

Oregon won't get better PR than that article. The writer just kept listing the ways it was Oregon > Ohio State. The fans are disinterested, students drift in around the end of the 1st quarter. Oregon has, "Shout". Ohio State has, "Hang on, Sloopy" The columnist corroborates what we all thought. Ohio State is stodgy, old money. They spent $20 M in NIL, shouldn't that have been enough to win the B1G again? Michigan's rebuilding. They heard about the noise at Autzen. Bu they took it as seriously as they took the Ducks football team. Oregon, the team and the fans did break Ohio State.

Redundancy, and How Long Before You're A Duck?
30Duck replied to DanLduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I hear ya. The announcers are at the game, loaded with cards full of information to sprinkle through the games. Unfortunately it's rarely updated, and now we'll all be waiting for the Tez-Bo connection. Back in the day, Keith Jackson. Verne Lundquist, didn't have filler, and John Madden of course. -
Oregon State vs Cal Football TV Viewership...Yikes!
30Duck replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If Oregon State can somehow merge their game broadcasts with the Cindy Crawford infomercials that usually air on the CW when the games aren't on, the viewership would pick up. -
Who Should Duck Fans Pull For: tOSU or Penn St?
30Duck replied to EastBayDuckDad's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This is why this Forum is so great. I never thought about that! Go Penn State!!! Wanting tOSU to lose just feels better anyway. -
“They can throw the ball" "But he’s also proven to have the ability to pass." Oregon HC Dan Lanning is wary of both of Michigan's quarterbacks WWW.YARDBARKER.COM If this were a year ago, a matchup between Oregon and Michigan would have been a headliner. It's still an important game for both...

2024 College Football Rankings: Joel Klatt's Top 10 Teams After Week 9
30Duck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Absolutely, Texas was supported before, now They're SEC. Miami is off the relic heap, nary a mention that they're 3 Review call reversals from being 5-3, tOSU, laughably easy non-con schedule, L at Oregon. "If that game was at a neutral field!" -
Who Should Duck Fans Pull For: tOSU or Penn St?

tOSU has been off its game since losing @ Oregon, a loss to Penn State, after scraping by Nebraska I can see them just throwing in the cards and calling it a Day. -

2024 College Football Rankings: Joel Klatt's Top 10 Teams After Week 9
30Duck replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Joel Full of KLATT says he now understands why Oregon, Gabriel might not have been firing on all cylinders at the start of the season. But in the last two weeks he insisted that the trip to Purdue, mixed with the inevitable hangover from beating Ohio State, would be too much for Oregon to handle and it would be a close call. 35-0. Next week, Illinois, top 20, traditional B1G team coming into Autzen to take on Oregon, still without Burch, "21.5 is too much, it's just too much". 38-9. -
NCAA Overturns Targeting Call on Buckeye Defender
30Duck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes. In basketball there are flagrant 1 and flagrant 2 penalties, 2 being the worst. In football, there should be targeting 1 & targeting 2. Launching, head to head should qualify as 2, with ejection. Now, it doesn't need to be head to head, any contact in the head area constitutes targeting, but shoulder to head should be targeting 2, 15 yard penalty, no ejection. -
Who Should Duck Fans Pull For: tOSU or Penn St?
30Duck replied to EastBayDuckDad's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It's not like with Washington, where I simply can't ever want them to win, with Ohio State, but I'm inclined to hope they lose. For quite a few weeks I've been sure that I wanted Penn State to win. It's hard to beat a good team twice in a row, so I didn't want the Buckeyes to beat the Ducks in the B!G Championship game, and Penn State just hasn't looked that good to me, and I didn't think they could beat Ohio State. But the way that the Buckeyes have played since the Ducks have me thinking that playing them again, in Indy, wouldn't be that bad. It's a home game for Penn State, they haven't beaten Ohio State in a while, Day can't win these games. So, I don't care who wins. It will probably come down to a play review. -

The Bend-But-Don’t-Break Defense is WORKING?
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yeah. it's tricky. While this D is not allowing explosive plays, it's not allowing nearly as many 3rd down conversions, so the other teams aren't having as many long drives. BBDB isn't a term I'd use to describe this defense. -
Are College Referrees The Worst Ever in 2024?
30Duck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Officiating has succumbed to what has taken college football to the road it now travels. It has become more than anything else, Entertainment, more like real life reality shows like "Survivor" than it was 40 years ago. The NCAA could have prevented a lot of this if they had dealt with growing contempt of the student athletes for everybody else getting rich at their expense, but the NCAA punted. Now it's NIL and the Transfer Portal. Officiating has always been problematic, and the technology now exacerbates it. Big screens in the stadiums, slow motion video on TV. As much as fans don't like the interruption of play by a video review, it's Must See TV.
