The Answers I’m Watching for With the 2024 Ducks
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Just found this floating around: Ohio State's offensive line was generally seen as a problem area heading into 2024, especially after its rather lackluster showing last year. So, it's not just OBD. -
Agree with all of these particularly the SEC idea of neutral. The Ducks should never set a webfoot inside the refurbished, yet still cheesy, little stadium again
-
In a way it's good. But parity due to teams being constantly in flux isn't necessarily an improvement. NIL, the transfer portal, has made building a team an anachronism.

The Answers I’m Watching for With the 2024 Ducks

Rankings shouldn't be done before week 4, and pre-season hype is what it is, hype. This Oregon team might have the most "talent" ever assembled, but that shouldn't have been enough to anoint them champions. It wasn't just Duck fans who did this, Desmond and Herbie predicted the Ducks would win the Natty, though Herbie did say the Ducks would lose next week's game against his alma mater. There is still time for all the talent on this team to rise to the top, 4-0, without playing an A game is good, there was a win, over a team that had never lost to Oregon before, has a Heisman worthy running back and a good chance at making the playoff, in there. The schedule has worked out well. UCLA was a great first road game, Michigan State is a rugged team that Oregon can get some resistance from and begin to open the playbook up before the B1G game. -
An Alliance Between the Big Ten and SEC?

Me too. It's too bad that college football has come down to a "Have vs Have Not" paradigm, but I'm glad the Ducks are part of the former. I don't like what money has done. 30, 40, 50 years ago, college football was very entertaining. Now, it's very much a part of Entertainment, like movies, which were more fun, 30,40, 50 years ago. I don't watch movies like I used to. The last time I went to a movie, I bought the ticket at the window, and got change back for the 10. Now, a ticket has to be purchased on line, and a 10 won't do it. We laugh at the Huskies and their Championship. But I like the way they got it more than the way a championship is won now. Besides money, the Powers that be (SEC. ESPN) wanted a clear cut champion. Part of the fun back in the day was the battle of the AP and UPI polls. All year, arguments ensued. Now the arguments are about seeding. Bowl games were great. Players didn't think of opting out. The Ducks didn't win a lot when I first started watching. Back then a fan could shout at Norval Turner on the field, and he'd hear it. Now Oregon is a Brand. Definitely a Have and I'm happy for that. I'll never stop watching college football, especially OBD, but it isn't the same. -
You know, when it comes down to it about OBD, I believe ONJ said it best

Oregon Still Undefeated, So Why Are Some Ducks Fans Unhappy?

Prime would be a great coach at Dallas, in the NFL. The Cowboys are all about Clicks. "America's Team" hasn't advanced out of the first round of the Playoffs since 1995, but the $$$ and attention keeps coming. -
The Ducks dominated the Bruins in the 1st half, went through the motions in the 2nd. Georgia was very fortunate to get past Kentucky, winning 13-12, then after a Bye, found themselves down, 30-7 at the half, to Alabama. then almost came back to win. Ohio State hasn't been tested yet, but we'll see what happens to them with Iowa.

Great post. I would be more afraid of USC if Orgeron were their coach instead of Riley.

This is the problem. First, if the call on the field had been incomplete there wouldn't have been a review. But on the field, it was called a catch. So, there was a review? A 7 minute review to find INCONTROVERTIBLE evidence that overturned the call on the field and gave Miami the win?

The meat of their schedule is coming up, the best team Colorado has played is Nebraska, and Nebraska won, 28-10. -

Tyner did "medically retire" and came back, found a place to play at Oregon State. I don't give him, Always a Duck. But while he was, he was great.

I don't despise many things, but on the top of my despise list are the soppy letters that players send out now when they transfer, "I had a wonderful time at Oregon" blah blah, blah, "Great teammates and coaches" blah, blah.blah, "A hard decision" Okay fine. But then they go here, "Once a Duck, Always a Duck!" No. It was a hard decision, but you made it, to reject Oregon. You were a Duck.

With you on Travis, conversely, Jabbar Muhammad is A a D. Endyia Rogers started at USC, she's "A a D. Sadly, Jazz Shelley, Nebraska, Taylor Chavez, Arizona, Te-Hina Paopao, South Carolina, gone.

Washington coach Jedd Fisch focusing on Michigan run game in National Championship rematch You, think?
-
Having Oregon State, exclusively at Autzen, as a cupcake sounds good, or maybe the schedule works out and they can be a Weak 11 opponent like the SEC does.
-
Texas - Oklahoma over Ohio State- Oregon would be beyond ridiculous. A neutral site game between No.1 and No.21 over a home crowd for the Top 6 match-up between the two best teams in the B1G?
-
It is my belief that the 2019 Oregon Women's basketball team is the best team in OBD history and Sabrina is absolutely on OBD's Mt. Rushmore. Clark holds all time scoring record, passing former Husky, Kelsey Plum. Sabrina holds the record for most triple-doubles, Men's and Women's. The men's is led by Kyle Collinsworth, with 12. Sabrina finished with 26.

Washington fit your description last year, kept winning close games, while Oregon was smashing their opponents, Ducks were favored over the Huskies and lost. But I don't see the Hurricanes being that Washington team. Going undefeated, without playing anybody, especially with a bail out like Miami got last week, does merit questions.

Agree completely with the first part. As to the second. I hope that soon OBD gets above the radar and is a bleep as big as Ohio State is. -
I agree with the calls on Michigan State at Oregon and the UM at UW game, the Miami at Cal, I'll believe it when I see it. College football picks, predictions against the spread for Week 6 WWW.SPORTINGNEWS.COM A rematch of last season's national championship game is on the docket this weekend.

Of course, Ohio State's schedule has been easier than Miami's, but Ohio State has devoured its cupcakes, and the schedule will get tougher.

The hype about Oregon pre-season could have been hyperbolic, but it was based on the team. Colorado was all about Prime.
