By the time that game was played, Ohio State could see the playoff path they'd have if they didn't win the conference. Losing to Michigan didn't matter.

In this format, Ohio State showed it's better not to win one.

It took a while for osu2 to figure out where the middle of the field was for the coin toss. They win and defer to the 2nd half.

"I just think the regular season and winning a conference championship matter". Fine, except Oregon went undefeated in the regular season, beating Ohio State and Michigan, won the B1G championship. Ohio State's regular season, losses to Oregon and Michigan, didn't matter at all. Think they care? Penn State lost the CCG to Oregon and was rewarded with a much easier path in the Playoffs, tripped anyway. Now the championship game will be a match-up of a team that didn't qualify for its conference championship and a team that doesn't have a conference.
