Ranking Dan Lanning's Best Football games at Oregon
30Duck replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
All the big B1G wins illustrate, to me, what we noted in the topic about the Pac-12, The QB's on the other teams, even Howard on osu2, just weren't that good. The W in Wisconsin could have been an L, if the Badgers QB had been the level of Pac-12's. What if Smith & Egbuko had had a Pac-12 QB throwing the ball? -
Diamond Ducks Win Nail-Biter Over Terps 5-4!
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The announcers said, "that was a great game!" I suppose it was, and thrillers are fun, But, a relaxing baseball game it wasn't! The announcers were very good I thought, had very nice comments throughout the game for OBD, and when Maryland took the lead, they said that a win over Oregon would definitely be Maryland's "game of the year!" It was also interesting, early in the game they noted that Oregon had a lot of big guys in the lineup, an observation that was never uttered during the Horton era. They also mentioned that, at Purdue, Wasilkowski coached "small ball", another remnant of Horton, that thankfully is gone. -

The Kid Thinks he is in the Pros . . . My Bad, They All Are...

It's getting into bizzarro world here. In the NFL there's a salary cap. The other players might not like it, but while their doing great at 12-20 M a year, the QB is making 50M a year. The good time is the first 4 years, when the QB is on his rookie deal, and the team can build around him. There's no cap here of course, because the players are student athletes. not on salary. -
Ranking Dan Lanning's Best Football games at Oregon
30Duck replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Hard to believe that UCLA was No.9? I'd include week 2, at Texas Tech, 2023, Oregon wins 38-30, Bassa's pick-6. And yeah week 11, at Wisconsin, Oregon 16 Wisconsin 13. What if the Ducks had lost the one in Wisconsin, maybe it would have been a "good loss". But, 4th & 16, will live forever. Matayo Uiagalelei, game clinching INT. -

All of this is the NCAA's fault. It saw what was happening 50 years ago and didn't do a thing, except hold on tighter to the "Student Athlete" model. There were ripples, Ed O'Bannon, UCLA basketball player, was the lead in a class action suit against the NCAA that touched on NIL, the player's won, the NCAA's actions violated the Sherman anti trust laws, players should be compensated for their NIL. But nothing really came of it, so here we are. -
Oregon Softball Moves Up to No. 4 on Both Polls...
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
In a pre-season top 25, Oregon wasn't listed, Texas was No.1, and the Longhorns are No.1 now, followed by Oklahoma, who's my pick for Champ until they're eliminated, and Texas A & M. LSU is No.5 A Super Regional looks good for The Jane, and hopefully, a showdown with Texas in Oklahoma City. If COY in Softball is anything like it is in football, who could it besides Coach Lombardi? -
Men's Basketball: Ducks Get a Shooter in the Transfer Portal
30Duck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It's clear that the NIL is leaning heavily to the football side, not that I'm complaining, but I hope there's enough to get Bittle to come back, as for getting other players to come over, it is what it is. -
Pac-12: Remember That Quarterback League?
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yeah, it was fun, remember that game against ASU. when that QB named Daniels got a 4th and 16? Whatever happened to him? Charles is right, it's a top heavy conference, and last season, OBD was the heaviest. We'll get to know the rest of the teams, it'll take a while, but that's okay. A lot better than having the games on The CW. -
The Most Popular Team in College Football is … Michigan?
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I don't know if this guy should be counted as a "living" and, as for the Hoosiers, in a contest once, 1st prize was a paid weekend in Gary, Indiana, 2nd prize was 2 weekends. As far as popularity, I suspect, that maybe Notre Dame has more fans out of state than OBD does, maybe. I remember, back,72-74, watching replays of Notre Dame, with Tom Clements at QB. Or, let's count how many times, when this was the way it was done. an Oregon hat was on the table, one of 3 to be picked. The Duck, is world famous, the Wolverine is a Marvel character. The only reason that lately Corso has picked against The Duck is because everybody knows he should pick Oregon. -
Looks like all the teams were put into a B1G hat and how they were pulled out determined the order.
-
But, darn, Beaver Nation will be there, no players unfortunately, cheering them on!!!
-
BK has had a tough time since he left Notre Dame because he felt he had a better chance at a Natty in the SEC. He tried to affect an accent to go with his new environment, that didn't go well, after a particular loss he butchered John McKay's classic, "What do you think of your team's execution?"

Hawkeyes Will Be a Very Tough Away Game for the Ducks
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It looks like this will be, "the tough" game this season, like Wisconsin was in 2024. I don't see a loss, and by this time, Moore, or Novosad, should be settled. Ferentz should have the B1G record, so won't have to deal with that, both teams will be coming off Byes. Oregon has the Golden Gophers at home next, Iowa goes to USC. -
I was hoping that Penn State would have a bit of a test before OBD invade Happy Valley, but it doesn't look like it, though that could be a good thing; Nevada, FIU and Villanova provide the competition. The Trojans open with Missouri State, Washington starts with Colorado State. Indiana? Old Dominion.

Way to Early basketball predictions are just as useless as football are. It's hard to project Oregon to challenge in the B1G. It is good to remember though that Florida wasn't picked to win the SEC.
-
Measuring stick time. OBD have definitely left 2017 behind where Draft Day is concerned. But there is only one Duck expected to go in the 1st round, maybe. Osu2, Georgia, even the Alabama that had PAWL crying, will fill the 1st & 2nd rounds. Oregon still has a way to go.

Duck's Wire Ranks B1G Football 2025 Strength of Schedule

Absolutely agree. Part what the team was last year, part conjecture on how it will do next year, then extrapolate that for all the teams for SOS, huh, what?- 1 reply

No.1 Florida vs No.1 Houston Men's Basketball Championship 5:50 PST CBS
30Duck replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The discrepancy was obvious between the twenty minutes coming out of halftime. Four fouls were called in the first half before 26 were called for in the second, including five immediately on the Gators in just over the two and a half minutes coming out of the break that resulted in a controversial technical foul on their bench. Add in a no-call on a pretty clear goal tend, which ended up making a difference in a two-point margin, and the outing ended up earning criticism for the officials before it was over with. Swallowing your whistle shouldn't be the plan for the Refs, maybe they could have called more in the 1st half. That's a huge discrepancy. Baseball players get an idea of the strike zone, it would be completely wrong if it changed as much as the 1st & 2nd half did here. Ironic, that the game ends because the Houston player knew it would be a double-dribble if he touched the ball in the last seconds, so could only stand and watch.
