Tai Felton is big and fast. It would be a great week for the Ducks to get a lot of sacks. Can Oregon Ducks Neutralize Big Ten Leading Receiver Tai Felton? Should the Heisman Award Date be Moved?
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Agree on all counts. Jeanty is having a great year, running primarily against MWC competition, that has to come under consideration, same as Ward-ACC, Hunter-Big 12. Gabriel has led the Ducks to No.1, undefeated against more top 25 teams than the other 3 candidates combined. -
After this season, no way does Miami lose the ACC title game. Cig's line is Chip worthy.

Should the Heisman Award Date be Moved?

It's an interesting premise, David, but I disagree with it. It isn't their fault, but Hunter, Jeanty & Ward have all made the best of playing against inferior opponents the whole season, except Jeanty, who's Boise State team. did play an Oregon team, that was finding its footing, early in the season and lost. The three players are doing what's expected of them against inferior opponents. Is Jeanty "certainly the best running back in all of college football this season? He's certainly the best playing against the competition he's faced. Ward too, has put up great numbers against week competition, but needed a lot of help to get wins. Hunter at Colorado, great player, both sides of the ball. Colorado is 6-2, the best team they have played is Nebraska, who buried them. Meanwhile Gabriel is the QB of the No.1 team in the country, putting up great numbers, except in the 2nd half, and his team has 3 top 25 wins. He has had Heisman moments when the pressure was on, the other 3 haven't faced pressure like that. The timing of the Heisman is just fine. -

Advantage for Oregon If They Finish the CFP Rankings No.1?
30Duck replied to kirklandduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Okay, for a while I thought that finishing No.5 and starting off with a home game might be a "good and good" type of deal. But no. Being No.1 when this starts and being No.1 when it's over, is the only option. -
Murray, Mayfield, Williams were all incredibly talented QB's, Riley was there. Miller Moss isn't up to their level, Riley is there, and Moss just got benched. NFL star, Herbert, didn't have great stats, now all of a sudden Ward at Miami is putting up Heisman level numbers. Easier for a coach to just get out of the way.
-
What is it with QB's from down south named Cam? I just don't like 'em. I get that this version is putting up great stats, But I can't, and actually don't want to, get over that without being saved by the video booth, all of his heroics would still have the Canes sitting at 6-3 at best.

Blown out by Nebraska, 2 losses and a 1st round Bye just like the No.1 team gets. Something definitely off here. Nebraska, Colorado & Oregon always messes things up.
-
Clearly having 64 teams instead 12 is a big difference. But, being No.1 in the basketball bracket is substantially superior to being a 5. In the football format, Oregon gets a bye, just like 2,3 & 4 do. While No.5 gets to host a home game against the No.12 team, while No.1's first game will be the winner of 8/9. There are definite advantages to being No.5.

There was no doubt about it, not even Joey Galloway, from Ohio State, had a problem with it. College Football Playoff: 5 Winners and losers from the first rankings FTW.USATODAY.COM The first CFP rankings went great for Oregon and the SEC

There are only a couple elite programs on the West Coast now (UW and Oregon) and with USC in turmoil it should greatly help recruiting.
