  1. This is interesting stuff, and I believe it ultimately helps Oregon fans. Canzano has dug out stuff nobody else has, and I did not realize so many schools wanted to join us. Canzano: Pac-12 busy fielding inquiries from expansion candidates WWW.JOHNCANZANO.COM More than a dozen schools have reached out.
  2. Actually it originally comes from Kirby Smart, and Lanning embraced and learned it. And again--the objective of this series is to explain the defense and I will pull from the entire season, and it is not just about this game. For ages...football teams faced each other with the same offenses and defenses...such as the "I" on offense with a 4-3 on defense, and the Spread versus the 4-2-5, and tons of other examples. Every offense and defense works, but it depends upon the right talent to implement it and the right coaching. So yes...they both know what each is doing, but that has happened with coaches for a long time. They may know what each is doing, but not when and that is the key, IMHO.
  3. The good news to this is....the QBs have to stick around, so that means if Bo can't do the job or gets hurt...we have talent in relief. This is big, IMHO.
  4. If you have questions about why we added advertising on both sites, then do read this short post explaining. We are getting things refined with it, as we actually had ads inside of posts originally on the forum, and then yesterday afternoon they were being placed in between posts, which I think is a ton better. I like how with some of the open space between posts (due to the ads) we can see bits of the background picture if you are on laptop or desktop. I will admit that the ads are a bit congested on mobile, and the page is not loading as fast as I'd like. Again...we are working on that. For laptop/desktop...you see a big banner ad at the top placed right on top of my background photo, and we are going to be tweaking that so we can see both. Again, sorry to do this, (bringing in ads) but I've incurred thousands of dollars in additional, unplanned expenses with the two sites. I do appreciate your tolerance. If you have conflicts going on with your screen--weird stuff happening....please post here or email me and let me know: what kind of devise, (mobile, laptop, pad or desktop) the operating system, and the browser you are using. I am sincere in trying to get this right. Email is charles@fishduck.com My thanks to you all, Charles
  5. In an article in this mornings Eugene Register-Guard, it reports that Justin Flowe was at 246 pounds last year in the only game he played where he had 14 tackles, cost a fumble, and was the Pac 12 defensive player and freshman player of the week. Quite the start! But now they report him at 220 pounds, and this really fits with the lighter faster profile that Lanny wants for his mint defense. He should really be able to cover sideline to sideline now!
  6. What is unique this time is the yellow face mask, and it is a nice contrast. As for Apple Green? I will always prefer this rich color of green...
  7. He really does, as Sewell is ideal at Mac, and the Money position was made for Flowe and Bassa. The size/talent of DJ Johnson and Brandon Dorlus are perfect for the new 4i technique, so yes...it is not like we have to go out and recruit the talent needed for the defense. We're ready!

  9. Good. No black, silver, grey or any other that is not our team colors. Although I am surprised we are wearing a home uniform; are the Bulldogs wearing their red uniform? Oregon Ducks unveil new uniforms for showdown vs. Georgia Bulldogs DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Oregon will be showing up in Atlanta with style. 10. There has to be a "most interesting man in the world" joke in there somewhere...
  11. Boy...your post is perfect in describing how if people are not kept in the "polite" lane, then they will veer in all kinds of directions that makes the site no longer fun to read or learn from. And I forgot about it, but your post reminded me of the "Bully-of-the-Board," as there is always a few of those at every forum or site. They try to take control and funnel all comments in the direction that he/she wants, and that is done by denigration, mocking, shaming and what I call, "Throwing Group-Shade." We had a few of those at FishDuck when I began the rules five years ago, and it took me a few years to figure out how to keep things on a pleasant path. Most of those who leave are not banned, they leave on their own because they know I will no longer allow them to bully others. A simple goal of "I want to see all opinions on all topics," is easy when everyone is nice to each other. The hard part is convincing new members to tone down the aggression, and just share her/his opinion. Again, the good news is that all of that is done privately by email, thus you don't have to witness the occasional distasteful exchanges. (And I am not going to blame all of those on the other parties, since I've admitted recently that am not noble!)
  12. Good example. We are adults and could have dealt with the second comment there, but why should we even have to see it? BTW....the fellow who posts there in the comments as "dixieduck" is someone you used to read here often before being banned. I knew JJ would reappear somewhere, and it is too bad he could not control himself here, because in the end--we all lose. Oh well. It was not until the fifth time being banned that I made it permanent. (That is a bit soft)
  13. That is a perfect analogy, as weeds are small and appear harmless at first....like the mild violations. But leave either of them alone and it changes the garden. I gotta remember that example, as it is on-point.
  14. My FishDuck Friends....I enjoy this comic strip below, and both chuckled and winced when I read the punch-line. How about you? Is that the future of public discourse? This is a very pertinent point for yours-truly, because I've had to send emails to people recently where their snarky, sarcastic or condescending post was not bad violation, but in fact was mild. They would admonish me for being anal, or "why kill some good fun?" It is because I've learned the hard way that leaving even something mild up will either start an argument when someone responds back, or it lowers the bar and more people see it and do it themselves--which creates more work for me. (And begins to alter the forum atmosphere) Besides...we don't do that stuff here. I ask them..."was your post polite and respectful?" (No!) I was concluding with..."can't we just be nice to each other?" For some people, that is hard; I predict that one of them won't be able to contain himself, and after multiple infractions will have to be banned. I don't want to be too soft, and allow them to create more work for me, but most important....I just want nice people here. So when I see the comic strip with the conclusion of, "Nice has no future,".....I say, "it does at the OBD forum!" I love this community...
  15. I listened to a national coaches podcast interviewing Coach Lanning where the host had known and interviewed DL often while at Georgia. He told Lanning and the audience that, “this the best staff he has ever seen assembled by a new college coach.” Over time…we are going to do a lot of winning.
  16. BTW… it is apparent that nearly everybody is seeing different things occurring on the screen. I personally have had three different types of views as an administrator when I’m on mobile, (Crazy!) so the fact that one person can see all of the FishDuck feed articles just fine, and another can’t see them at all, doesn’t surprise me after all that I have experienced in the past day. I am very interested in feedback and problems that members are experiencing, so you are welcome to put them in this thread, or you may email me Charles@FishDuck.com I thank everyone for their patience, as this could take a few weeks.
  17. I’m sorry to Pennsylvania Duck, as I should’ve addressed that in my first post. I actually had two huge tech issues yesterday, and spent the entire day on them, of which these ads were one of them. I am not going to under-play this, as I believe this is going to take a while to get straightened out. I hope everybody can be patient while it is happening. We are all very grateful to Pennsylvania Duck, and NJDuck, HawaiiDuck, Tandaian, and so many others on the Duck news hunter team that bring us all the articles. it is so cool in between things that we automatically always have something Oregon Sports related to do; go read in FishDuck feed!
  18. Yes, the concentration of them and the location is a bit much. It will take a little time to figure it all out…
  19. We are trying to figure it out, hope to solve it soon. it is actually worse than you would know, but our moderators do!
  20. Back 11 years ago...a Husky writer thought Oregon fans were the worst. Were we? What about now? And this is a Husky fan pointing fingers? My thoughts? We were winning so much back then that it was hard for the other conference teams to accept the massive success. And it was sudden-success, and both opposing fans and Oregon fans were not used to the new-found status. But now? I think USC fans just might tip the scales a bit? Oregon Football: The College World Despises Ducks Fans, but Why? BLEACHERREPORT.COM During this time of the college football offseason when teams have long since wrapped things up, the bored faithful tend to get restless. On Feb. 2, fans watched excitedly as new football...
  21. Outstanding article Joshua, and it is great to see you writing during football season! And I see you have made the move (business reasons) from West Virginia to Ohio. When we are online, we can write from anywhere. I really do believe that both defenses are going to slow both offenses down to a crawl, thus a low-scoring game, IMHO.
