  1. Quite the home field advantage for the Bulldogs. Oregon vs. Georgia Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game Officially Sold Out A top-10 matchup, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game’s 14th sellout since 2008 will represent one of the hottest tickets in the game’s history. ATLANTA (July 20, 2022) – The much-anticipated matchup between Oregon and defending national champion Georgia will take place in a packed Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Officials today announced the game has sold out a month and a half before the Ducks and Bulldogs meet Sept. 3 in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. The game will feature two projected top-10 teams in (9) Oregon and (3) Georgia and will be the highest-ranked neutral-site game of the opening weekend. With this year’s sell out, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game has now sold out 14 of 18 games since its creation in 2008. This year’s contest also represents one of the most in demand tickets in the game’s history. “This has already proven to be one of the toughest tickets we’ve ever seen for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game,” said Gary Stokan, Peach Bowl, Inc. CEO and president. “You have the defending National Champions squaring off with arguably the most successful Pac-12 team in the CFP era. With two passionate fan bases and the best neutral-site matchup on opening weekend, it’s no surprise we’ve seen such a strong demand for tickets.” The Oregon vs. Georgia Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET, Saturday, Sept. 3 and will be nationally telecast on ABC. This year’s matchup marks only the second meeting between the teams, and the first in 45 years when the Bulldogs claimed a 27-16 victory at Sanford Stadium in 1977. “The Chick-fil-A Kickoff game will provide another great opportunity for Georgia to play on a national stage against a top-quality opponent in what has become known as the Capital of College Football –Atlanta,” said Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. “The game being sold out is certainly no surprise and I know our team and our fans are excited about playing in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. We’ve only played Oregon once in our history so it will be an outstanding opportunity for both teams.” “This is going to be a tremendous matchup between two of college football’s premiere programs,” said Oregon head coach Dan Lanning. “The game being sold out already speaks to the power of these two brands and the national buzz around this matchup, and we look forward to seeing Duck fans out in full force in Atlanta. Our offseason has been all about focusing on our DNA traits as a team and coming together as one unit, and our student-athletes are working incredibly hard to create a really solid foundation for the season. We can’t wait for the opportunity to put that hard work on display against an elite opponent on Sept. 3.” Georgia is making its third appearance in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game after most recently defeating UNC 33-24 in Kirby Smart’s first game as a head coach in 2016. Meanwhile, Oregon will appear in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game for the first time in the program’s history. This year’s matchup is only the second meeting between Pac-12 and SEC teams in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, with the SEC claiming the lone victory to begin the 2018 season. As the nation’s longest-running neutral-site season opener, the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game averages 67,064 fans – higher than the attendance of 43 bowl games last year – and has an average payout of $5.96 million which is higher than 30 bowl games from the 2021-22 Bowl Season. The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Games also have a strong television viewership year-after-year, with more than 87.5 million viewers tuning in since 2008. The teams will battle for The Old Leather Helmet Trophy, one of college football’s newest rivalry-style icons. Traditionally, winners of The Old Leather Helmet don the helmet on the field after the game, starting with the head coach and then rotating from player to player as the team celebrates its victory. Secondary Market Tickets Through Ticketmaster Fans interested in locating tickets in the secondary ticket market can visit the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game’s official ticket exchange on Ticketmaster. It is common for secondary market prices to exceed face value. Visit www.cfakickoffgame.com/resale to view tickets for resale on the exchange.
  2. It is Spencer as he scored against Arizona, and the photographer is Craig Strobeck. The donations that many of you make pay these guys to give us professional quality pictures for our FishDuck articles and I thank you! Below is another as Webb basks in his touchdown.
  3. I may be in the minority here, but my attitude about Young is..."it's good-or-good." If he comes--fantastic. But if he does not...I feel really good about the running back room for this next year at minimum. Now an extra scholarship for a defensive or offensive lineman might be needed more?

  9. That is funny and true. And it most certainly applies to us know-it-all-types in a forum. But isn't that commentary, the discussion--part of our entertainment? Love it!
  10. Great article about "him" and some of his conclusions. Incredible quote: “You can be a guy who is a husband and father first and still be a great coach and that’s exciting for me.” Concerning the process of building team unity and leadership...below are some articles about what Lanning will implement at Oregon. 11. Clearly Mudslide, you have not worked with as many football coaches as I have. They are very difficult to work with, think they know it all, (in all areas,) and either are lousy writers or poor with the technology. One major coach that did analysis with me here on the site pushed me into scream-outs over the phone with him, and another very prominent coach that is in the local newspaper, and has been on television and radio extensively and wrote columns here for a few years… I had to fire last year. It became too much. With over 400 analysis articles created from more coaches then I can bring to mind over the last decade…and the war stories I have border on legendary. All of that extraordinary time and work, to bring the opportunity for more people to learn more football for free. By contrast, Coach Boles is a peach, a delight to work with. I write that with the upmost respect and gratitude toward him.
  12. We will know sometime in the next two years, and the two FishDuck sites will make the best of it—where ever we end up. In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy Oregon Sports to its fullest before changes occur. I never thought that I would say that I will savor a game with Washington State or Arizona like I will the next two years. Ditto for non-revenue sports…
  13. A true gap-plugging Nose Tackle is what Dan Lanning needs, and Washington is a Rivals 4-Star!
  14. City council is trying to fast-track it, as they understand the importance. The city is also looking at selling property to UO in order to make room for the needed practice field space, movement of the street and for additional parking. Sorry if I missed something...just trying to recall it all from the local paper. (Of which I am mightily trying to not comment further on)
  15. The current will be used by all the sports, as scheduling became difficult. Now all the other sports have one, and football will have their own.
  16. On another site it was reported that the admins and coaches at Oregon had great difficulty contacting the family of Spencer Webb, and it was vital to give them the news before reading of it on Social Media. Oregon reached out to Coach Mario Cristobal, who then assisted with the effort with his wide range of contacts to help inform the family immediately. While we fans were not pleased with some elements of his time here, he did a ton of great things for the program and represented it well on the national stage. Character is defined as what you do when nobody is watching, and Mario demonstrated his love for his former player. I want to publicly thank him.
  17. I am not pausing posts on this forum and want to make sure there is no confusion. I am pausing new articles being published on FishDuck...until his funeral/Memorial Services are past, although Oregon fans are quite welcome to continue posting here. Everyone is different; some need to step away for a bit, while others need the distraction of football to help get them through the sadness of such an event. I am trying to offer both; show respect, and deal with my own feelings by not engaging with new articles, and yet continue having this forum available for those who want and need the distraction. Both avenues are fine, I just wanted to have them both available.

  19. Like all of you--I am devastated by the terrible loss of Spencer Webb. We will not be publishing articles on FishDuck.com (the article blog/site) for the remainder of this week and next week as a moment of silence for him, the family, friends, Duck fans and Oregon football teammates who will be mourning his loss. Posts on this site, the OBD forum will continue as you wish, although I personally will not posting much during this period. Our GREEN REFUGE cannot escape everything from the real world...
