  1. Reading that above....was it as good for you as it was for me? Oh yeah.
  2. I want to give Pickard4Heisman on ScoopDuck credit for the research, and since it was on a pay-site, I thought I would share his findings with us all. I am rewriting parts of if for better clarity and emphasis, as this was eye-popping to me. To start...remember that the Pac-12 Media deal we declined on from Apple was 23 million per year, with subscriber levels that had to be met. For Oregon's new B1G Media contract, we receive a 50% share of regular season TV money, which is 30 million, with $1m extra each year until 2030. Oregon's allocation from the B1G of Playoff money--for the conference just being a part of the CFB Playoff is 21 million per year, for each of the 18 teams of the B1G. This is a starting amount of 51 million per year for joining our new conference. Thus by just being in the B1G...we get over double the Pac-12 offer in the first year from just these first two revenue sources. Know that Washington is receiving the same 51 million for just being in the B1G conference as well, and thus why it was a no-brainer making the change for both NW schools when you get double to start, and this is with a half-share of the media contract! (That goes WAY UP with a new media contract, when the Ducks will receive a 100% share in 2031) Most important, Oregon keeps 100% of the post season revenue we earn now. Whew! CFB Playoff Participation Revenue $4 million for each of the 12 teams that makes the College Football Playoff $4 million for each of the 8 teams that makes the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals $6 million for each of the 4 teams that makes the College Football Playoff Semifinals $6 million for each of the 2 teams that makes the College Football Playoff National Championship Game Each team who participates in the College Football Playoff receives an additional $3 million to cover expenses for each round. So you can do the math and see that Oregon's entire 160 Million Athletic Budget could have half of it paid if the Ducks make the 'Natty--from just these three revenue sources. There are more revenue sources, but that is for another time. The important thing is to see how much better we are in the first year of being in the B1G, and we returned the favor to the conference with our football performance.
  3. Good topic, because at the beginning of the year--Sappington had a case of the "yips" as I think he might have been a touch intimidated by being in a bigger-stage with his kicks making a larger impact. But he settled down and has been almost money since, and I'm glad for him and us. Bottom line is that I am OK with him kicking the game winner, as he has done versus Boise State, Ohio State and Wisconsin. The punter? He has been a bit more inconsistent this year, and I hope he gets it worked out soon. That is seven out of ten for me...
  4. I watched the game last night, and am still blown away by the comeback. TAMU was in control and just pounding on us, and yet our guys are fighters. Their experience really came through, and having three games where things were going badly, but we recovered, is so helpful for their confidence now, and for big games later. And great defense at clutch time! Keep it going!
  5. I am so thankful for all the blessings this community has brought me. So much wisdom and laughter, and it is so comforting to see all the familiar posters sharing their opinion. I really do love this community of such nice people, and am so grateful for you. I am thankful for David extending his thoughts, and for his wonderful articles over four years...a hundred already! We do not have as many writers as in the past, but we are all having fun--especially in this year. I am so grateful for the FishDuck writers bringing us so much information and entertainment. The volunteer Duck-News Hunters bring us all the relevant Oregon Sports news...where would we be without them? The dozen Moderators have been CLUTCH, immediately hiding Troll posts, or senseless "shade" posts that only hurt the community. Very rarely do offending posts remain up for long because of their diligence, and I am so lucky that they HAVE OUR BACK so we can all just enjoy reading the great posts you create. And...I am thankful for the patience all of you have with me, as I sometimes go overboard in cheerleading, or over-react to a post. I know that for every attempt of my humor that hits...there are probably three or four that make people groan. I am easily amused, and appreciate your patience. Finally, I am grateful to have a special year unfolding, and let's take the next step!
  6. Easy to say, but beating the No. 2 team three times is a ridiculous hurdle for any team to perform.
  7. The Aggies lead at halftime, 32-29, so Our Beloved Ducks still have their chances!
  8. Jonathan Hoffman is a great Duck fan, and created this for all of us! I love the lyrics! So much fun...
  9. There is even a song written about all the other schools who wish they were Oregon...
  10. "I am not here to be a grumpy old curmudgeon. I am not here to make some grandiose, holier-than-thou, declaration on the declining state of today’s youth. And, I am not here to be some old-fart, get off my lawn, enlarged prostate, bitching and moaning, “Ya know, back in my day,” type of cranky and out-of-touch gray-beard..." If not you, then...
  11. Maybe there are other reasons for the Huskies turning out as they are?
  12. Perhaps it is the quality of Washington Warrior at the keyboard? (That's me on a good day)
  13. I still laugh at this one from years back, as "Troy" is Troy Franklin who came to Oregon and is now a WR with Bo at Denver, and the other two went to Ohio State. At this OBD forum, we just report what we see/hear, what others are reporting, and offer our opinions of which are cleared stated as such. We do not give WAGs like this one, and claim otherwise...
  14. I'd like to be a fired coach. Paid millions to go away? Instead I get...
  15. Yikes. Final Georgia Tech 74 Oregon 58
  16. Nephew? Nephew!! A connection I did not know about!
  17. The media is only there for the first 15-20 minutes, even when allowed. So nothing in terms of offense, defense or special teams is shown to the media other than the players warming up. BUT, the media CAN see who is practicing, and now it makes sense that Oregon wants to hide who is ready to play, and who is not.
  18. If we are going to play Ohio State again in the Playoff...let it be in the Championship game,....not before. Both teams at No. 1 and No. 2 now DESERVE that.
