  1. In the seasons Riley was the HC at OK, Texas had an equally rated or better ranked roster than did Oklahoma.
  2. Could be spot on my friend. Riley was handed a Maserati with the keys. But he improved the OK win total to 85% of the games compared to Big Game Bob's 80% of the games. With Caleb Williams and the other guys he has brought in and in this conference I expect he will go 9-3. He'll likely take an L at Utah and versus Notre Dame but in 2022 he has the Ducks standing by to help him out. SC misses Oregon in the conference cross over and Utah visiting Oregon helps SC's cause.
  3. The Missing Tech Challenge Link actually linked! Hats off to Charles for egging an old timer on.
  4. Great stuff. 30 to 40% is indeed conservative; more like 75% plus?
  5. Expectations for USC football in 2022: Can Lincoln Riley lead Trojans to Pac-12 title, CFP in debut season? - CBSSports.com WWW.CBSSPORTS.COM As spring practice winds down, our experts share their expectations for USC in 2022 under a new regime
  6. Thank you. Yes, Texas is a football mad state.
  7. Great post. I think that Kingsbury is in a spot of bother with Murray as you so well note. But I think he is in a far better place than if he'd stayed as the OC at USC under Helton. The NFL does all it can to assure parity. You cannot simply buy a championship roster. As has been mentioned to me by friends who are Cowboys fans, Jerry and son need to hire a professional GM.
  8. BTW, as I should have noted in the initial post, the 12 team field would have 3 B1G and 3 SEC teams in the field, with 2 SEC teams getting a 1st round bye. I expect this, if the field goes to 12, will be the rule and not the exception? 2 spots for the ACC + Notre Dame? I'm optimistic that come 2026 the Pac-12 will consistently put 2 teams in the field. One thing that needs to be mandatory, all P5 conferences play 9 conference games and Notre Dame plays 13 regular season games. If Commissioner Warren and the B1G get their desire to have all P5 champs in and I think this will happen, I don't see any reason why the B1G would not approve a 12 team field? The Pac-12 has said it is good with 8 or 12 teams. GK demurred to 2026 because he was not going to vote in favor of expansion before knowing the make-up of the field and how revenue will be disbursed. I agree with this long term business thinking. The ACC wants 8 only but come 2026, a majority vote will rule. No unanimous vote will be required. And if the playoff continues to include the P5, G5 conferences and Notre Dame, the ACC will be out-voted. And ACC teams will likely be poached by the SEC and the B1G? Regardless, with Amazon taking over the NFL Thursday night broadcast and Apple TV taking over the NFL 'Package' from DirecTV, I'm thinking that GK will bring home a better than expected $60M a year per team deal for the Pac-12?
  9. Great take. Even with the loss of Coach Lanning and only 4 starters returning on D I expect the UGA D to be far saltier than was the tOSU D in 2021.
  10. Man, can it get any worse at ASU? Top receiver and Phoenix HS product, Ricky Pearsall, just entered the portal along with LB Eric Gentry who was, post spring practice, listed to start this season. Pearsall told the Athletic ASU beat writer that one reason he is leaving is the lack of NIL opportunities in the Phoenix area. This is not Pullman, it's Phoenix. He also is concerned that with Daniels leaving the Sun Devils will not have a quality QB starting in 2022. The good news if there is any, is that former Florida starting QB Emory Jones is visiting ASU this weekend. IMO, President Crow, AD Anderson and Herm should all be shown the door. Crow, despite evidence to the contrary, has claimed Herm to be innocent of the COVID recruiting violations being investigated by the NCAA. 5 assistant coaches have left the program. It probably did not help ASU's cause when Crow came out publicly against NIL. This is the guy who was Larry's biggest supporter. ASU was projected to win 6 games this season. Now?
  11. "The NFL is easier compared to this (coaching CFB.) They (sic) have windows. They have long-term contracts. You (sic) have free agency in college football without a window. And you have them making salaries -NIL- without a cap. You've got all kinds of variables. Lane Kiffin
  12. Great and accurate take. If the Ducks pull off the upset that is an embarrassing loss for UGA and the SEC. Man, I'd love if on 9/3 Oregon and Utah can pull off an SEC daily double. This would mean immediate respect for the Pac-12. And could set up a College Game Day has to be there in Autzen when Utah visits in November.
  13. Love it! But UW compared to many other teams in the league does OK with attendance. UW along with Oregon and USC are the 3 Pac-12 schools in the CFB revenue top 25.
  14. "The NFL is easier compared to this (coaching CFB.) They (sic) have windows. They have long-term contracts. You (sic) have free agency in college football without a window. And you have them making salaries -NIL- without a cap. You've got all kinds of variables. Lane Kiffin
  15. Great take. But I think 'stuff' like this probably makes Chip happy as he embraces the underdog role? Huge opening game at UF for the Utes. Cannot afford to get off to a slow start like in 2021. I'd love to see the Ducks in the Final 4. But if not the Ducks in 2022, then I would like to see a Pac-12 team finally back in the playoff field. With media rights renegotiation coming up soon, so would commissioner GK.
  16. My guess? 'Tween the Hedges' would perhaps, move the line up a half point to a point? I think UGA playing in the ATL is already, at -15, getting close to a home field bump? To me, UGA -15 looks like a concentrated effort to balance the book. Will be fun to see in which direction the line moves. I'm down with the Ducks at +15 and will follow the line north with an additional bet(s) if need be.
  17. OH NO! Not the SI front cover jinx! Thanks for the post.
  18. I tried watching the USFL this weekend. Hard to get into it.
  19. This line also says a lot about this being a 'neutral site' game. I hope the Ducks will take the game well into the 4th quarter? Lots of big time recruits to replace the guys who left but UGA only returns 4 starters on D. 7 starters return on O including the QB coming off of winning the Natty.
  20. NO INJURIES! As Charles so noted, I definitely do not expect to see 'the full Monty' on O or D tomorrow. I'd like to see Thompson hit and not overthrow his receivers. Is he accurate enough at this level of football to justify a 5* ranking? He did not come out of the top division in Arizona HS football.
  21. Man, there is a big difference between +13.5/14 and +15. I'm on this before the line drops. However, I will not be betting at one of Charles' favorites, Woo Casino.
  22. The SEC conference plays 8 and not 9 conference games, and shells out to bring in stiffs for body bag games.
  23. To be successful in CFB (and CBB) you must recruit year round. Then, you have to re-recruit a lot of guys to keep them out of the portal. You also have to be recruiting out-of-the-portal to plug holes in the roster. Managing an NFL roster today compared to managing a CFB roster is a piece of cake. Not just CFB. Jay Wright is not an 'old 60' and he has resigned his job as the Villanova basketball head coach. As Dabo Swinney opined and Nick Saban and Lane Kiffin have supported him, 'THIS' is not sustainable.
  24. Thanks for posting this Charles. Kind of astounding, no? 72 women's golf teams will compete in the post-season. Meanwhile, the folks who run the CFB playoff can't get past 4 teams? This is even more disconcerting when you consider that no net income will result from the women's championship being played. Expanding the CFB Playoff field would bring in multi-millions of additional dollars that help subsidize non-revenue sports. The lack of business sense shown by the folks in charge of college athletics is astounding. Hats Off to the Ducks Women's Golf Team!
