  1. Indiana offense looks like ours. Their d line is giving UM O-line fits. Could they be the real deal? Still got to get by tOSU though.
  2. Moves like this are not good for anybody. Can't make the NFL too happy either. Remember, MSU was one of the first schools to sign a 10 year 95M coach contract. How'd that work out! What is wrong with this state?!? Brain freeze from the cold north winds? Oey vay!
  3. Ducks 45 - 9 3 - t/o 5 - sacks 345 yds pass
  4. I think differently. How can you be the best player if your team isn't at least considered one of the best. I understand your point, but to be the best, you must play against the best every week. The BSU kid is great, no doubt, but the MWC is not the B1G or the SEC. The Colorado kid, the BIG12 is weak! Ward, the ACC is less then weak!! Great players, probably great NFL careers, but today's best college player plays against the best every week. Dillon Gabriel.
  5. I agree with your premise David. But the Heisman is for the regular season. Including the playoff isn't fair to those who don't make the playoffs. That said, if we are going to have such a long extended playoff, maybe things should be reconsidered. Surely the best player will be on one of the 12 teams. Or, come up with a new award for the playoffs. I know I'm prejudiced, but only one candidate of these 4 players is in a top flight conference each week. I think even Purdue would look better if they played in any of the other 3 conferences. And doesn't character count for something? Gabriel has just been cool, calm, accurate, consistent and the consumate leader week after week. And in his first year on the team. He makes his playing look effortless. Yeah, he's had a few misses, but look at those victories! Oh yeah, that team is not just ranked #1 but playing the best football right now too. Until they change it, the best player in CFB is on the best team. Period.
  6. C'mon Charles! It's national election day! You need to allow some leeway.... ...OK. maybe not. I get it. I LOVE my Fishduck! Go Ducks! Destroy Maryland!!
  7. They didn't think tOSU would have issues with noise in little ol' Autzen. They didn't think we could go into the B1G house and roll Michigan. Now they think making us play a night game in Madison, with those chill north winds, will be too difficult. Once again, our boys will show them. 8 in a row. Night game. No worries. Besides, if they don't already, Nike will come up with the gear needed to keep the boys warm. C'mon Ducks! Badger the Terps! Terp the Badgers!
  8. Maybe it's just a down year for great qb's. Seems a lot got drafted last year. To have a great offense, need a great qb. And a good O-line. And good receivers. Oh yeah, a run game too. Like our Ducks!
  9. Apparently the media storm (drizzle) against Wilner paid off. First week he has put us at #1.
  10. The call that canceled the amazing catch by Evan was the correct call. It was unfortunate because he wasn't blocking anyone, no defenders close. He just took 2 steps too many and was standing watching DG throw. Was a ticky tacky call, but couldn't argue it. Truly an amazing catch anyway.
  11. The pressure on the coaches comes from the fan base, and even more from the big boosters. They expect a win every game or else. Both Franklin (1-7 against tOSU) and Day (2-6 against top 5 teams) have issues with their supporters in the big games. If Lanning continues to lose to UW, we would grouse too (don't believe he will) so maybe the heat they feel removes some joy. I hope our OBD fan base never loses the fun and joy which is Duck football.
  12. And his blocking is very good. He's definitely got a great future.
  13. We are that "team out west"!
  14. Dan Lanning on Michigan's stadium, "I've heard it's big".
  15. Yes, be careful what you wish for. 'Bring 'em on' says UM qb. OK. 'We be comein'. Coach Lanning has had the boys ready to play each week (heck, he gets me fired up!) and I expect the same this week. I'm expecting another coming out party that shuts down UM and so dominates, that B1G pundits are left speechless. What encourages me are 2 things: 1. There is no let up when backups go in, on offense or defense. Everyone not only wants to play, but are ready to play. 2. The sheer joy and support ALL the players give to each other. Celebrating achiements, encouraging each other, and the clear communication you see on the field. This is a real team. We have a lot of football still ahead, but I don't see Michigan as a stumbling block. Go Ducks. Wipe out those Wolverines.
  16. This sounds like "bend don't break defense". Limit explosive plays, keep everything in front of you. Hmmm...sounds familiar.
  17. Thanks Charles for your perspective. We do have a lot of new eyes on our Ducks. Also, the TV crews are new to the Ducks also so this could be a longer term adjustment, especially as we are on all the major networks now. New teams weekly. I just wish they would drop the transfer stuff. But i get it. And y'all are right, who doesnt want to be a Duck!
  18. In every game this year, the TV announcers are quick to point out the previous school our Duck player was at. Doesn't matter how long he has been at Oregon, every time it's "transfer from" where ever. How long does a kid need to play at Oregon before he's a Duck? This is making me crazy! Do I just need to chill? Or can tv pundits just forget about transfer portal. Do they talk like that in the pros? 'Great catch by so and so, previous Seahawk'. And by now, everyone who has ever watched a single Duck game, knows the story of Tez and the Nix family, and that Bryce Boetcher was drafted in MLB! Can't they dig a little deeper for stories, or am I being too sensitive? Help me out here.
  19. I concur, but my point was that extra blitzes weren't necessary bcuz we hadn't faced an elite qb.
  20. My first reaction to the idea of BBDBD was one of recoil! But isn't that the idea of every defense? Limit explosive plays, make them work for everthing. You can't always stop every aspect of a team, giving up 200+ yards seems like a lot, but the defense got a shutout. We are getting a consistently good rush on the qb with just 4, why change it up. We also haven't faced a truly elite qb yet. It's a long season, and with the playoffs it's really 2 seasons. Maybe DL is playing strategy for the long haul. Save some stuff for later. Whatever it is, I really like our D this year.
  21. What I don't get is the gushing over tOSU and Texas or even Alabama and Miami. These teams have all struggled against weaker opponents in recent weeks. Oregon, with a new qb and injury bothered O-line stumbled a bit in the FIRST 2 WEEKS of the season and it was held against us even after beating tOSU. Boy, bias is a tough thing to overcome I guess. Btw, anyone notice that most all the top teams are heavily invested in NIL. Just one man's observation.
  22. Great read. Their joy is a direct result of Lanning's "family" attitude. We at my house have loved watching players celebrate together. It's our joy.
  23. Thanks JJ for posting this. The officiating is a very serious problem. Every fan thinks their conference refs are the worst. But this year there really seems to be glaring issues everywhere. I like some of his solutions. Maybe the head refs should be made into full-time jobs. There seems to be a lot of $$ involved in college football these days, maybe it's about time to invest some of it into the officiating. It's hard to expect part time employees to be the best. If something isn't done, we may end up with more disgusting events throwing debris onto the field.
  24. Fan bases are all the same, lose a game they think you should have won, and they become unhinged and call for heads to roll. I remember hearing rumblings after Lanning lost to UW and OSU. And then again last year after the 2 losses to UW, 'can't win the big one', 'not ready for the big leagues', but boy am I glad we got him. It is funny to watch/hear tOSU fans crying...and Day is such an immature 'nut' on the sidelines, I'll enjoy their tantrums.
