  1. Let's hope they aren't old Pac12 refs. With Cal & Stanford in the ACC, they could easily be!
  2. I remember years ago I thought the officiating was particularly good in a bowl game of ours, they were ACC refs. Here's hoping.
  3. The officiating is the only area of the game I'm worried about. I've rewatched that game several times and tOSU players hold and arrive early on too many passes. If we get good officiating, Oregon wins. But if we gotta beat the refs too... Here's hoping Dillon has his best game ever!
  4. My first thought was, "why white pants?'. 2nd thought, "if we win, these are my new favorites!" I do like the helmet. As the sun sets on tOSU future, it will look cool on the Duck helmet. Sco Ducks! Beat the Bucknuts!
  5. Without a doubt it's been a highly successful great season. But. The ultimate goal is still not reached, but it is oh so close. The Natty. Getting this far is great, but it would be disappointing to miss. However, beating tOSU for the 2ND time! in the same season, might make the Natty anticlimactic... ...nah, it won't. We love our Ducks! Just keep winning, baby!
  6. I say if we have the schollies, do it. A brother can be a strong connection. Right Tez?
  7. Lanning acknowledged early on he had contacted NFL coaches and others on advice for dealing with a long season. If any team in the playoffs is ready, it has to be the Ducks. A couple thoughts about the media hype about tOSU. They were the preseason favorite and they are in the playoffs. If they win, many sports 'talking heads' will look brilliant. So, that's part of their support. I rewatched the 1st game and decided Oregon didn't play as well on offense as I remembered. Dillon was good but missed some easy stuff. Missed FG, two missed PAT and missing wide open Tez on 4th and goal. That's potentially 12 points. Everyone remembers a 1 pt win that is clouded by a controversial 12 man penalty with homefield advantage. I can understand the hype for tOSU. Also, Oregon slowed tempo pretty much every game in 2nd half with a lead. Was Lanning reducing snap counts? As a result, scores didn't always reflect a blowout win. To the media it looks like we aren't that good. Wanting a Natty so much makes losing after going 13-0 seem like a wasted season. Well it's not. This has been a great run. tOSU is a really good football team. We are glad to play them, we just wish it was the finals and not the quarters. But beating them again will ensure the 1st time wasn't a fluke and will cement us as the best in the B1G. It also will validate coach Lanning as indeed playing chess to the others checkers. Lanning's comment that many guys are hitting their personal best in weights and other training measurables sounds extremely encouraging. Accompany that with extra time for new plays and designs, I'm super excited our guys will be ready. No nervousness for them either. They know what to expect. The Rosebowl is home away from home. We got this.
  8. I get the anxiety. I'm a father. Waiting for my daughter to be born was excruciating. Most of us have been there. But we are exactly where we wanted to be in August. In the playoffs. Sure, playing tOSU in the finals may have been easier to tolerate, but we still would need to beat them. So it shouldn't really matter when we do. I for one can't wait to see this game. It has all the makings of a classic. Two great teams battling it out on the field. Here are a few of my thoughts that reduce my stress about the game. 1. Lanning has shown quick improvement on the coaching decision front. I trust his preparation and leadership. 2. Dillon Gabriel is a calm, poised, experienced leader. He plays his best at the biggest moments. 3. We play at the Rose Bowl. In recent times we have played very well there. Our guys will feel at home. 4. We are as healthy as we've been all year. 5. I think we have better in-game managers and play callers. (Neither Day or Kelly have beaten an Oregon team. Ever) Lastly, just remember we left points on the field last time. They didn't. Oh yeah, and they LOST to Michigan, at home! Trust the process. The team has been building for this all year. They won't disappoint. Let's go Ducks! PS. I too will have some alcohol on hand...just for celebrating of course.
  9. Yes, release the 'Quack'en! Give em 'ell boys! I'm also confident in our coaching staff using the available time to fine tune an appropriate game plan. I think we will win, but this will be one tough, hard fought game. tOSU have played an improved defense since losing to us, especially shutting down explosive plays and passing td's. I think our coaching is better. Our qb is better. Our O-line is better. Our TE's are better weapons. Everything else is a push. Looking forward to reading about all the new plays being diagnosed by Fishduck in Jan. My only concern is the officiating. tOSU gets away with too many holds and P/I on passes, and their O-line holds alot. We, on the other hand, seem to draw flags far too easily. If the officials do a fair and honest job, we should shock the football establishment and win by 2 scores or more, cuz Our coaching is gonna be that good!
  10. Merry Christmas fellow Duck fans! May the warmth and joy of this special day feel your hearth and home to full and overflowing. And may your familial joy only be outdone by the joy a "Natty" brings us all!
  11. Mixed with red, absolutely! Though I prefer the older shirts with the darker green. Nothing says "festive" like the Oregon Ducks!!
  12. I've noticed the hand gestures by Dillon I believe he has been doing it all year. At least I've noticed it a lot. I assumed it had Hawaiian ties, somehow incorporating his family Ohana.
  13. Omg! 7 years! He should at least get to marry Rachel! Hope he wins his bowl game and gets drafted! Once a Duck, always!
  14. After watching the Army - Navy game I was reminded that the greatest athletes are those guys. Not only do they have a full week of practice and meetings, like every other D1 team, but they have a FULL regimen of academic classes, AND they are trained in military combat and weapon use. And NO NIL $$. I doubt few D1 football stars could keep up. T. Hunter is a gifted kid, but GOAT? Nor even a real question.
  15. Entertainment as we await real football games to be played! Playoffs for attorneys.
  16. To be considered a 4☆ at his first year...imagine how impressive his upside must be! I am truly looking forward to watching his development. Thanks 30duck for the post.
  17. I don't care. It feels like all of CFB has been aligned against our Ducks all year. From the schedule (8 games no break) to the questionable calls from the refs, to having the first 2 games held against us almost the entire year, to too few players recognized as all-American, Dillon being ignored for Heisman, Lanning not getting coaching recognition, little to no talk about going 13-0 AND winning the B1G in year 1, and on and on! We need to just WIN BABY, just win!! We need to run the table, beating all of them, so finally they all will have to admit the Oregon Ducks are the greatest of 2024! We know! Go Ducks!!
  18. I hope we here at OBD never become like tOSU fans. He has won more games each season than most coaches ever. Except the big ones. I'm not sure how I would feel if DL won 10 games every year but lost to UW all the time. But, we aren't them. And Dan Lanning knows how to win big games. Boy are we fortunate.
  19. He will be missed if he gets it. A great recruiter.
  20. Thanks for the chuckles Mr. Fishduck. Always fun to see the lunacy of others.
  21. Beating tOSU again! Then Texas. Then Georgia in the Natty. If we make this run, it will be the best team in college football history. Wis., Mich, Mich St, Penn St, tOSU, Texas and Georgia...all in the same year!! That would be amazing. Here's hoping! (And believing)
  22. I hope Dante's future is with Oregon. I want to see Dan & Will develop in-house talent. We will have 2-5☆ and 3-4☆ and a talented 3☆ on scholarship next year if no one transfers. That's a loaded QB room. I think both Dante and Austin* are ready and competent to play. Both need in-game experience to develop. Akili Jr and the Hawaii kid are both studs also. *Austin looked really good in Spring game. The Best qb in my opinion. It's time we develop our own recruits or lose interest from potential recruits. Dante came here with the promise of development. Dan is a man of his word. This year we had talented seniors and needed an experienced qb to help a Natty run. DG was a good fit. I don't see next year having the same urgency. Besides, with limited schollies available, we have greater needs for portal players. TE, D-line and a #1 WR for starters.
  23. Awesome. He certainly deserves it. He has been calm cool and efficient at all the most important times in every game. He is our team leader. And we are 13 - 0. His best games were our biggest, tOSU, Mich and PSU. He led several 4th qtr winning drives. Made clutch throws to maintain drives. Delivered when the game was on the line, every time. He gets my (unbiased) vote!
  24. After beating Penn St, we will have to beat tOSU, then probably beat Georgia, all before facing someone in the Natty. That's like winning 3 national championship before actually winning the Championship! Oh well. One at a time. Bring em on! We can do it. And I hope we get UGA. We got a score to settle with those Dawgs!
