  1. Coaches LOVE to use these quotes as motivation. I hope every player posts this on their locker.
  2. What are your thoughts about which option to choose when the opening game coin toss goes your way? Receive or Defer? I prefer to defer unless the opposing team has a strong offense AND when they are home to prevent an over boisterous crowd during the first drive. I think WSU fits that criteria. If the Duck defense can stop them on their first drive, that's a huge advantage if the Duck offense punches it in on their first drive. But if WSU were to score and the Ducks fail, that's a bit deflating. Usually, I like deferring and getting the ball first to open the 2nd half after making adjustments at half-time. Thoughts? What are your criteria for receiving vs deferring?
  3. Willie Taggart played HS Football in Florida. Scott Frost Played HS Football in Nebraska. Mario Cristobal played HS Football in Florida. Sometimes a dream come true becomes a nightmare.
  4. I may have missed this in previous comments. A few backup QBs transferred which all but forced the use of 5th year Sr transfers in the past. The fallout isn't necessarily caused by the win now ideology. The play me or I'm taking my marbles and going elsewhere trend is a factor, as well. Kids don't seem to know or care about the Steve Young story these days.
  5. I don't see any leadership from Ty whatsoever. He looks like a robot. Bo may not be perfect, but he exudes confidence and he seems better than Anthony Brown. Anthony was a great leader. That leadership is infectious and is important in stressful situations to the whole team.
  6. Haha, then watching Iowa is like watching dried paint.
  7. Fubo offers a trial. Sling may, as well. I've used both. I've listened to Duck radio online: GoDucks.com/LiveAudio
  8. I think it was Bucky that let the ball slip between his hands during the first series. But I think Bo could have thrown it a bit better.
  9. Third and 8, the Ducks RUN for a first down against GEORGIA. Loved it!
  10. I'm not too concerned about the offense. The Ducks showed they can move the ball. It should only get better. Not too many penalties, either. EWU offensive highlights from last week looked pretty good. Their QB can sling it. Oregon should keep the pressure on him.
  11. Iowa desperately needs a QB. They won Saturday 7-3 on a FG and 2 safeties. Home crowd booed their winning team.
  12. GA had 9 possessions. They punted once, then ran 2 plays to end the game when GA put in the 2s and 3s...maybe some 4s and 6s.
  13. Congrats on getting tickets. I encourage you to take a few minutes and enjoy the view from Spencer Butte before the first pub. Safe travels!
  14. I do hope Nix can improve, but the one interception was spectacular by freshman Starks. My God a Freshman: Georgia S Malaki Starks makes insane interception UGAWIRE.USATODAY.COM What a play by the true freshman
  15. If a team is going to lose one game in a season, my choice is the first game of the season to a strong team, rather than to a "weaker" team, or go undefeated and then lose during a conference championship or bowl game. A team can learn a lot from a wake up call early. Win or learn. Go Ducks!
  16. Oregon was over rated all of last year and again coming into this game. The early ratings have been the joke of sports for decades. Georgia defeated the number 1 rated team 33-18 last year. In my book, that's a beat down. My "Oh Crud" moment from Saturday is that the SEC has evolved from bigger, slower, out of shape linemen to bigger, stronger, and faster linemen. I also don't think the Pac-12 has fully recovered from the 2020 partial season, yet. That was a long layover. It feels like the conference had jet lag last year. None of that is on the coaching staff.
  17. If name, image, and likeness revenue is a prospect's top priority, I would show them the door. I blame UCLA and USC's slump on the "Hollywood" factor. They can sign the most talented men in SoCal, but many if them are more concerned about fame than the game if football. My stomach will turn this Saturday if I see Ducks flexing when they make a routine play against an FCS foe. Celebrating great plays and big plays is encouraged. Do it with class as Men of Oregon. First, recruit future Men of Oregon whose top priority is playing great football. The revenue will find them.
  18. Part of the "problem" lies with the invitational process to crown a national champion. The final grade used to vote teams into the playoff included "pre-season" game win/loss records, points for and points against totals and key statistics. Prior to the Bowl Championship Series (BCS), games prior to conference play didn't really matter. Those games gave teams, coaches, and players a chance to work out kinks and give all players in-game reps and allow them to feel the thrill of building stats that count. Today, every game counts. There isn't a pre-season. There is more pressure to give the first string game reps, even in garbage time. Running up the score and building bloated stats is rewarded at season end by the playoff committee. Unfortunately, this means if the Ducks don't blow out EWU or Boise St or, please no, get blown out, we probably won't see any quarter back, other than Nix.
