  1. I want to two things from the offense. An uptempo pace that shows DG getting more comfortable with the playbook, and coaching adjustments that show that the available talent on the OL is sufficient to win big with. I want to see our defensive line control the running game. Coaching staff needs to show that they understand issues that are plaguing this team. Run with the players that play well together, perhaps not always the best players.
  2. Business using money earned by others to beat down friendly neighbors seems to be be a more appropriate storyline.
  3. Length of time a fan of sports = perspective. So many ways to win, or lose in any sport. Given enough time we get to see most of them. The fact that we won was not because of two plays. My math tells me that two touchdowns does not equal 37 points. Btw…a football team can win if their defense scores more points than the opposing offense.
  4. Sports psychology extrapolates a loss? (what data points are used in sports psychology extrapolation) If you mean that if the Duck offense continues to play poorly that they could lose…sure. They will not lose because the beaver crowd is being mean to them.
  5. After 127 games in the same conference our connection to osu is now an out of conference game on the schedule. Stating that they are in state rivals seems somewhat awkward. It is like saying that Portland State is an in state rival.
  6. Technology has changed how we live, work, and play. I think there is always a learning curve in how to use technologies as they become available. The human element is still going to be part of the game. While communication is important, there will be coaches that will be better at using the technology than others. Determining what information your players need is the key. There also will be players that may find it distracting to be trying to listen to a coach on a headset while playing the game, and others that will thrive.
  7. In both games, our offense starts to take control of the game, and then a comedy of errors occurs. A couple of things they haven’t done is give up a safety, or snapped the ball over the QB’s head inside the red zone. They are winning, and have shown glimpses that they are capable of playing very well. I will remain optimistic.
  8. Couple more wins in a row and we should be at about #18.
  9. Just got home from game…ughhh We are not top ten material. The home crowd was loud and fired up. They never gave up hope. However, definitely had some boos from the crowd on the choice of plays when we ran the ball into a brick wall on third and forever near our own end zone. OL is in disarray, which means our running game is non existent. Pickard might be a good story, but I don’t think his leadership at center is working. We need solutions to the OL problems. Otherwise, our defense will need to win games for us, because the offense is mediocre at best.
  10. Replacing an NFL Caliber center was never going to be easy. The OL is in flux right now. Poncho, and Bedford, looked to be the starters at center, and guard. Pickard is suddenly our replacement at center, and Poncho gets shuffled over to guard. This was the game where we could afford to have a walk-on start at center. Pickard and Poncho were weak links in this game. Much of that is the fact that they never have played together in a game. Their inexperience was exposed. Not too sure if the starting lineup changes, but you don’t fix inexperience in one week.
  11. The right side of the line struggled. To me it Obviously the sun doesn’t impact blocking. I don’t know if you were at the game, but i will tell you that it definitely impacted DG’s ability to see anything downfield in the 3rd quarter. I don’t understand your point.
  12. Chad Powers was Eli Manning’s alias when he disguised himself and went to Penn State’s walk-on tryouts a year, or two ago. The funny part is that a few few coaches, that were not in on the spoof, saw some potential. Just search for Chad Powers/Eli Manning on you tube…worth a watch.
  13. The team found out that everyone wants to knock the stuffing out of the Ducks. The OL shouldn’t take all the responsibility for the lackluster performance. Our center, and right guard looked exactly like they had never played a game together. If they get better at playing together, then DG has more time to let plays develop downfield. I don’t remember DG making many adjustments (audibles) at the line of scrimmage. I think he stayed with the play called, no matter what defensive set he was seeing. He should take control of the playbook , and make changes when needed. I think we get better, as the players settle in to their positions.
  14. There definitely were receivers open downfield on several plays that DG overlooked. I told my wife that I thought he couldn’t see green very well. However, you are going to miss open receivers when 4 or 5 potential receivers are downfield. I will also agree that at the start of the 3rd quarter, the team was staring directly into the sun. DG was sacked in that quarter, and the sun glare definitely contributed to it. DG had the look of someone who is still processing the playbook. He wasn’t forcing too many passes into tight windows, but seems capable if necessary. He will get better.
  15. Whittington had open turf in front of him on one of his carries at the end of the 3rd quarter. He stumbled as the hole opened and fell…I believe that was his 8 yard run. That play he had excellent blocking, and should have had a TD, or the very least another 15 yards. Later in that series we stalled out inside the 5 yard line because of a holding penalty, and settled for a field goal. We have all seen it happen before, poor execution, and penalties kill a drive and momentum starts changing. Not a knock on Whittington, but based on his knee injury, and numbers in this game, you have to ask whether he needs additional time to recover.
  16. Nobody expected to see the Ducks struggle to score points. Part of it is execution from players, and part is the decisions that the coaching staff made before, and during the game. The rest of the season relies on improvements from both coaches and players . Having depth is great, but having starters that can play together is much more important than having a bunch of highly rated players that cant execute as a team. This team will play better, and we will find if that takes more than two games on Saturday.
  17. Staying with the bright side theme… Playing at that time of day this time of year our QB was looking directly into the sun in the 3rd quarter. When Gabriel gets sacked in the 3rd, he is literally staring into the sun. We truly shot ourselves in the foot coming out in the 3rd quarter, and I won’t blame the sun, but the sun does hover just over the older scoreboard. So, on the bright side, there will be no sun glaring into the QBs eyes next week…lol
  18. There were definitely receivers open beyond the check down throws. I made a comment to my wife that Dillon Gabriel has trouble seeing green in the color spectrum. However, Gabriel was really one of the bright spots on offense. The play calling seemed predictable, the pace of play was slow, and the offensive line played poorly. The refs slowed down the game by reviewing everything, and then took too much time to actually make a decision.
  19. We are not the #3 team in the country.
  20. Not really a fan of Cristobal. However, I want to see Miami lose for different reasons. John Ruiz , Miami’s biggest booster and NIL king, the company he runs lost over $200 million last year, and will probably go out of business. Just want to see the team and coach he bought lose. There should be more to winning than just money. Btw…that could be a drop in a bucket to what Phil Knight may have lost over the last few years based on Nike’s precipitous drop share price.
  21. I have to agree. Even after a few games it is not easy to rank spots 6 - 20. Generally, the top 5 seem fairly accurate unless injuries take out key players. We just happen to be highly ranked this year. We have always had to battle to move up the rankings. Plus, as stated, the seeding for the playoff is going to be important as to where you play.
  22. DL says if you are good enough you are old enough. The depth on defense creates flexibility where our coaches can substitute to keep players fresh, but also bring in defensive personnel packages based on the situation. We have unprecedented size on both lines, and players that have speed on both sides of the ball. Couple that with an experienced QB who is known to run, top notch skill players, and OBD create match up headaches for opposing coaching staffs. I think our offensive firepower, and stingy defense, allows a lot of young players to get reps this year.
  23. Ty had potential, and received a college scholarship and NIL money for it. Not a bad outcome for his efforts.
  24. Testimonial time. Tried free trial of You Tube TV (2days) yesterday for the first time. The interface was easy to figure out, with unlimited cloud space to record your preferred programming. I have used sling, and fubo free trials in the past, and I will opt to use the YTTV platform as others have stated.
