DJ Uiagalelei Decided: Going to Oregon State
Desert Duck replied to 1Funduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Congrats to the Beavers on an excellent season, and for nabbing a likely great transfer. As Oregon has been great for Nix, Coach Smith & OSU will likely be great for this kid too. But next year, we must crush those Willamette River Rats! -
Love Some More Justin Herbert Facts?

Neil also developed a major degenerative hip problem, arguably due to too many beatings from Lawrence Taylor. After Neil's career ended, he had hip replacement surgery. -
Love Some More Justin Herbert Facts?
Desert Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Justin had exceeded all expectations. It's just incredible. However, if the Bolts don't solve the 20 sacks on Justin over just the last 5 games, like Neil Lomax, Justin will likely have a relatively short career. Either that or he will have to find a new team to play for. -
It's a weekday, January 2nd, bowl this year. As long as the Rose & Orange Bowl are part of the CFP, they'll be a big deal in those years. Otherwise, they'll primarily just have a nice history.

- Eugene average annual rainfall 46 inches - Seattle average annual rainfall 37 inches - Eugene average annual number of days with precipitation 151 - Seattle average annual number of days with precipitation 152 Seattle sucks, but from a weather standpoint, both are wet & gray. Per capita number of pompous schmucks: Unknown. But anecdotally, I'd have to agree that Seattle wins this category by a seemingly wide margin.

I'm a Duck alum and I cant stand the Huskies as much as the next guy. But academically, Oregon does not compete with UW. But as far as a classic "College Town," Eugene and "Faber University" absolutely win.

What's "major" about the Rose Bowl these days? Unless it's a year when they're part of the College Football Playoffs, I'm sad to say that today, it's pretty much just another one of 41 bowl games.

Quaaack!: 4-Star WR 2024 Commit...Jordan Anderson is a Duck

I love these verbitments (verbal commitment). I'll really like it, though, when they sign on the line. -
I've had Global Entry for 10 years. But I'm also realistic regarding travel time, delays, etc. But $85 for 5 years of PreCheck is not a barrier for anyone. And yes, travel time to S Bend v Eugene is about the same. This situation seems to be rooted in one currently confused family not being remotely on the same page. I have just on word for them: Go-Ducks (okay... admittedly that's more like 1.5 words, or so).

3 1/2 hour drive Dallas to Norman. The non stop on Alaska or American is about 4 hours. Then you have to add for drive time to DFW -- could easily be +1 hour. Then you'd want to arrive about an hour before your flight = + 1 more hour. Then when you get to Eugene, add 30 minutes to pick your rental car. So, all-in-all, it's an easy 7 hour trip. Plus, flying these days usually sucks. Plus, being crammed in a can with another 180 people or so is never fun, especially with all the viruses making the rounds. But he still should have chosen Oregon.

Boulder & Eugene have much in common.

Anyone know if someone is tracking the number of portal transfers by school? I'm quite certain it's being done, but I can't find it. I'm curious how Oregon compares to other Top-25 programs.

Obviously you are correct. I remember reading an article that said something like 85+% of verbal commitments do follow through. When I was young in my career, I had my weekly meeting with my Manager and I told him I had a client verbal commitment. He said, "You mean verbitment." Fortunately, by far, most kids follow through. My comment above was meant to be more tongue-in-cheek than anything else.

When it come to college football recruiting today, I think it's time to stop using the terms "Commitment," and "Committed." Clearly, the world no longer understands what the root word "commit" means. I'd suggest we start using the term, "Verbitment" --- as in "Verbal Commitment." As in meaningless.

Best wishes to Mike Leach for a miracle recovery.

Congrats to Coach Smith.
