  1. Sorry Spoiled Children, I just don't see what happens in a Big 12 game as being relevant to your loss at Utah. I didn't hear you complaining about the P12 refs resetting the game clock in the fourth quarter from 8 to 13 seconds with no real explanation.
  2. Probably could have, but it's safer just to launch the ball out of bounds to burn the last few seconds. I was a little suprised though, that he didn't scramble a little on each kneel-down to burn off a few more seconds.
  3. Now we're talking. Glaring weakness in this 2023 class is O-line, this really helps.
  4. Precision clock management. I didn't think they would be able to burn that last 13 seconds in one play, but by launching that last moon-ball Bo milked every last second. Since the clock doesn't stop until the ball actually touches something out of bounds, it was clear that DL had no intention of scoring.
  5. Great point, that would pretty well seal it in my book, but my gut tells me KD is going to be around for another year (not just wishful thinking I hope).
  6. Boo, got me all excited should have been a question mark at the end of the headline? Anyhoo you got me so I might as well chime in ha ha. YES that would be great, don't see it happening though. He's previously stated he's only going to be here for one year and if he finishes the season strong, it would make sense for him to declare if he's projected to be a day one or two draft pick IMHO. That said, all indications are that he is loving playing football at Oregon right now, and Herbert came back for the same reason (and he was a sure top-ten pick) so you never know.
  7. Mostly agree, but I would put Lannning at least on par with DeBoer (better record and has beaten a ranked team). Snickering at MC and Miami. Not saying he's not going to get it going there, but you really have to give the Oregon Athletic Department credit considering how our last two former coaches have performed in comparison to their tenure at Oregon.
  8. A win is a win, but man that was an ugly game to watch.
  9. Boo hoo, could woulda shoulda. A loss is a loss, you got beat by a team who outplayed you with the game on the line. Did the officials prevent your defense from a fourth down stop on Utah's last TD, or a stop on the 2-point conversion? Didn't think so, ha ha. Cry my a river.
  10. Kevin Warren would kill the Pac-12 off in heartbeat. He may have already. What the presidents don't have an appetite for is sharing any of their newfound wealth. Can't say I blame them there, if you were Indiana, Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers or Maryland would you want Oregon and Washington to come in and bump you further down the ladder while giving up revenue in the process? Wilner is usually pretty insightful and well-connected, but all I read here is that there's no hurry. They could offer Oregon and Washington membership tomorrow or in five years and they almost certainly would be accept. Warren knows this, he's holding all the cards waiting for the best time to go all in.
  11. Still not enough information in my book. We don't know what kind of TV/streaming deal we're getting. Indications are it'll be maybe half of what the B1G members are getting. That big of an income gap eventually becomes a talent gap, I just don't see any way around that. Can GK pull it off? I'm certainly rooting for him and I would like nothing more than for the Pac-? to remain viable, but realistically if the B1G comes calling we have to go. Don't like it, sad but true IMHO.
  12. As much as I hate to admit it, the conference will never be the same without the LA schools, both economically (media market) and in terms of tradition. USC (football) and UCLA (basketball) are the only true conference bluebloods. While the collapse of the Pac-12 would sadden me, my loyalties are to Oregon first, so the question to me is what's best for the Ducks? There's no doubt in my mind that we can be nationally competitive in a newly restructured Pac-? within a newly expanded CFP. That said, how do we stay close enough in the massive money grab to avoid fading into obscurity? Let's face it, the Pac-12 is not in a postion of strength. Our expansion options are limited and ultimately controlled by the ivory tower academics. Are we destined to become a boutique academic and olympic sport conference? As for the B1G, I think eventually the invite comes. My heart says stay but me head says go.
  13. Make no mistake, until a new TV deal is signed Oregon and Washington are still in play for the B1G. As we saw with the quickly expanded CFP the situation is extremely fluid.
  14. 1. Being 5-1 going into our bye week. Pre-season I was thinking 4-2, worst case 3-3 with losses to GA, BYU and WSU. 2. The efficiency of the offense. Long, grind it out drives mixed with explosion plays. Since Georgia opposing defenses haven't had any answers. 3. The play of the transfers. I thought Bo Nix was going to AB.2 (nothing against Anthony, he was solid but unspectacular). Bo is finally living up to his potential and has total command of the offense. I was pretty skeptical with the running back rotation, but Irving and Whittingham have proven to be a really good 1-2 punch. 4. Along with many others I thought our defense would be the strength of the team. This is clearly a work in progress, but I would have expected them to gel faster than the offense, especially with Lanning's background. 5. I can't necessarily say I'm surprised, but still disappointed with our kick return/coverage.
  15. "Sources" said Texas and Oklahoma to the Pac-10 was a done deal until it wasn't and Utah/Colorado got the invite. I still think it's going to happen though, not going to lie I'm really conflicted. Before the expanded playoff going to the B1G was the only way to stay relevant IMHO, but now playoff access is just as likely (if not more so) as a member of the P12. That said Mullens is a bean-counter by trade, so that leads me to believe it's all about the money at this point.
  16. No need to snub the B1G, just the LA schools. NO scheduling of the LA schools in any sport, let them travel. Continue to schedule the other B1G schools on a home/home basis. As for the Rose Bowl, it's toast as we know it anyway with the expanded playoff.
  17. IMHO criticism should be constructive, objective and respectful without any kind personal attack. A fine line I know and personal malice is a little hard to define, but to paraphrase a senator who's name I have forgotten, "I know it when I see it".
  18. Love it. Nothing says tradition like a 12:30 kickoff (yeah I'm old).
  19. IMHO (you did ask for feedback) the coaches and staff are paid professionals, so more latitude for criticism should be given provided it doesn't get personal. Criticize the action, not the person. I agree calling a coach a bonehead is disrespectful, but calling him out on a boneheaded play call is not. Semantics matters. Criticism of players is a little more nuanced since they are still young men sometimes prone to bad judgment. In addition an ugly post may turn a potential recruit off to the fan base as whole. That said, saying a player made a selfish play is different than calling him out as a selfish player. Again semantics, but there needs to be a mechanism for legitimate criticism rather than completely sanitizing the forum into a big puff piece.
  20. My philosophy is always the same--take care of our own business and good things will happen. Depending on other teams' wins or losses to backdoor our way in just doesn't make sense IMHO. Sure it's fun to speculate (and I'll damn sure be watching the game!), but if we beat both Utah and UCLA then the results of their matchup don't matter.
  21. Admittedly this one of my pet peeves, but talk of winning out in the first half of the season is a bit premature. In addition, since no P12 team has ever went undefeated in conference play it seems pretty unlikely this year especially given the strength (or at least parity) of the conference. One game at a time, we get down to our November stretch without another loss and then maybe we can talk about running the table. Just my humble opinion.
  22. Absolutely happy with where we are now. Pre-season I figured our best case in September was 3-1, worst case 1-3. Next step beat two teams we should beat. Checked that box with the Stanford win, now onto Zona. Conference road games are always a concern and bad things have happened to us in the desert at night, but that could also be said of the Palouse and we managed to come away with a win there, plus Wazoo is a much better team. Take care of business and we head into our bye week 5-1 looking good. As Bellotti used to say, "The games you remember are played in November." Obviously UCLA will be a very tough game, but regardless our season really boils down to those last three games in November and fortunately we get two of them at home. If we can shore up our pass defense and get rid of the stupid penalties, then we should finish strong.
  23. Agree. Dodd is a hack that is always slamming the Pac 12.
  24. Let's just call it what it is, so far a pretty big disappointment considering DL's background. Porous pass defense, especially on opponents third and long, same as last year. It was looking like this team was a lot more well-coached and disciplined, but mental errors and personal fouls on third and forever just about cost us the Wazoo game. That said our run defense is solid and we did get two turnovers including a pick-six. In addition credit them with the most critical stop, the three and out in between our last two possessions. Without that we almost certainly lose the game.
