Other guards are seniors or Roger's is going pro, but it's interesting the #1 class of all 5-stars, only TeHe lasted, and now she's gone. Something has been off. Sabrina was larger than we realized and we all know how big she was?

Nate Bittle Represents the "Fun" for the Fan
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
5 stars don't always excel immediately. Kelel Ware is another example. If Ware can play a 4 (seems he can) and Bittle the 5, we could be in for a fun season next year if everyone can stay healthy. I see Shelstad as a day one starter at point. A good defender who can score in the paint to come off the bench for the bigs would be nice. Doesn't have to be a 3 point threat, although Bittle is and Ware seems to be capable. The NBA big man trend is now a 3 point threat. I think our backcourt will be deep if healthy. The 3 spot will be the biggest ? with Guerrier graduating. With 2 strong bigs another 3-type wing won't need as much size perhaps. Now if Graves can just get the women's team to gel -
Canzano: Oregon Ducks Defense Searches for Identity
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The portal makes it possible to get the D players needed for the 4-2-5, I'm optimistic recruits and transfers next fall will see some major improvement and maybe your timeline moves up a good year or so. If the O-line and QB development can stay on track, maybe the D will catch up, and we'll be playoff bound even sooner. Fingers Crossed. -

I still can't believe Mr Knight hasn't prioritized a world class indoor facility.

What Has Happened to Oregon Women's Basketball Since Sabrina?
JDuck replied to Jemangi's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I've been saying this for a while, the coach is a great recruiter but I don't think his X and O strategies are quite that great. He pulled in a phenomenal class that year and Sabrina... I don't think people realized just HOW good she was and with Ruthie who wasn't even rated that high turned, out to be phenomenal and then you add Satou...and Erin Boley...too much for opposing defenses. He brings in another insane #1 class, and a year later TeHe is the only one left. The kids like him, great guy, phenomenal recruiter. Can't coach? -
All 4 good points, but Secondary stars will be made from a much improved pass rush. The latter is a huge key for this team and I like you put it number one. Also, I know they haven't played a down yet at Oregon and you mentioned none of them, probably as they are unproven, whether true freshman or transfers, but those two groups will play a huge role in '23...they will have to, especially on Defense.

This whole discussion may be moot because no charges were filed gun or not. FWIW if you have a CHL in Oregon a public school's "ban" on guns carries no legal weight. That goes for Universities and elementary schools alike. BYU can ban premarital sex and guns alike as they are a private university on private property.

I don't think it's political, UO should be upholding the laws the same, particularly as a public university. The constitution is no exception. The fact the DA dropped everything is telling.

Altman is good, injuries and chemistry, not his best roster or transfers this year. Hopefully a one-off. Women's team? Is it time for a change? Graves is a great recruiter but I've always heard grumbling about the Xs and Os. The class of five 5 stars disintegrated in a year. The talent vs production must be among the lowest in D1? I don't think we realize HOW good Sabrina really was, and with Ruthie...way better in college than her high school rank, then Satou. Erin Boley was great in their shadow, not so much after they left...too much for any defense. Graves reminds me of another great recruiter that players love...I think he's a coach at Miami now?

It’s Time to Feed the Beast – Get Bucky Irving the Ball
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I agree, glad I'm not the only one who thought things stalled a bit a few times when he came out. But... keeping a rotation to some degree may keep the energy up and potentially reduce injuries. How that RBBC time is divided up...maybe a bit more Bucky this year but keep him fresh. Red zone...yes please. Maybe the big back can get more reps too outside of 3rd and 1, he seems to have a lot of upside for more every-down situations. -

Can't disagree with all of the above, but 13-0 is possible. Offense I think will be even better. Defense couldn't be much worse, I think there will be a lot of improvement Special teams, same thing BUT...very young team, will have mistakes, but veterans on Offense (Nix and others) will be a plus, Transfers on D bring experience, it's just how fast can they gel, and same with O-line, new O-line coach Pac 12 will be good except for the officiating and TV deal UW and Utah on the road is tough, especially for a young team but we have the talent, and I think DL will have grown as a coach UW in Seattle = revenge, USuC at Autzen = wild. Beav rats too, at home. 9-3 is possible, hopefully not worse. TTU in Lubbock no cake walk. 10-2 likely, which could still be in the Pac12 CG, win that and it's Rose Bowl. 11-2, 11-1, 12-1...all possible. Playoffs? Playoffs? Yes, but would that be an embarrassing loss, or would a Rose Bowl win be more fun? '23 is going to be fun. I have my defibrillator charging up now...
-
O-line hire, O-line rebuild, Nix stays healthy...check. Special teams makes enough improvement to help squeak out close ones...check. Defense. I think it'll be way better. Does it need to be top 25? Maybe not if the offense can put up 40+ in playoff level games, but will 45 be enough if the defense gives up 48 or 49 to the AlabamaClemsonGeorgia-tOSU level teams? Think we can win the Pac, and with one loss would very likely make the dance. What happens there TBD

Oregon Football 2023 Scholarship Distribution Chart
JDuck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Looking at the chart, we are set up well this year and next, with a lot of talent in the Fr/RFr area. There will be transfers out, and transfers in, which will be a net gain. QB is the golden question mark next year and beyond. TE needs help but I wouldn't be surprised if we add pieces in May. Smaller recruiting class perhaps for '24 with just 14 Seniors, but...the portal! Lanning and staff show up big this year the '24 class could be our first Top-5. Wouldn't need quantity either, just quality. -

Building Lanning’s Defense: Who’s Calling the Shots?
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
And we'll be one of those prolific offenses. .the Pac will come down to the better D. I like the chances of OSU, Utah, and hopefully us, compared to UW or USuC. We'll have the talent if star ratings mean anything, the coaches, player development, and--Play Calling-- will perhaps decide. Bad play calling on offense perhaps cost us UW and OSU games. D needs a revamp, obviously, Lanning has "his guys" now. 13-0, let's see what we can do in the playoffs
