  1. If Rising doesn't make it back until November, I don't see 8 wins, although Whittingham does more with less better than almost any coach in the country so I wouldn't count them out.
  2. Novasad will need a year to fill out, maybe 2 to peak (think Mariota...) but with that arm, Portland State sees Bo for a half, TT for the 3rd, Austin for the 4th. Week 3 could be a chance to get them both a couple drives. Let's see what he has early, in games, after fall camp. Same for TT for that matter. Whoever shines, skinny or not, give them those reps. Bo is gone next year, one of these guys has to step up.
  3. 1 Georgia 2 Oregon 3 Florida State 4 tOSU Championship Game: Oregon 30, GA 28
  4. Pac still strong in SB even with a bumbling boo-boo blowing bubbles as a 2 seed
  5. Root against the perpil pooch mutts always
  6. Mutts be da akidemick prowess, them is more prowesserer than us. Lien on me, baby. DeBoer is a coach who seems to do more with less, but Lanning and staff will prove to be great coaches I think. As Charles says, in the end the talent gap will be too much for the perpil pooch muttts. Go find a hydrant you whiners
  7. This stuff is worthless this early. Better stuff to read out there! I do agree the Pac bowl deals aren't so great
  8. The dysentery loss to WSU was a disaster and the Oregon Trail blue/gold uni is one of the most forgettable episodes in recent Duck memory
  9. I agree it could be a total sideshow and it's a relief, really.
  10. Nothing iffy about this. Now go get ice cream, errrr....I mean get some 5 star DT's and Lanning style LB's
  11. An impressive class no matter what. Hopefully they live up to the hype, and how fast can they be major contributors at D1? Can Altman use the 3 bigs (including Bittle a junior and a 5th year senior in Dante) effectively with all the new and veteran guard and wing talent?
  12. Oregon just needs to light it up in Lubbock. I know the O-line has some changes but a lot of talent. By the time we are done with fall camp and PSU I think they can be ready. Nix will have some serious weapons and Stein will have it dialed up. It could be one of those 52-49 things. Some improved D (we will I think) and that's winnable even in Texas. The post-spring top 25 will be similar to the late August pre-season polls. It is always a lot different in December. The Pac looks primed to impress (and I hope they do sans the purple pooch mutts) but it's never what we think. USuC could go 8-4, Utah 8-4, OSU could be similar. Nix could win the Heismann under Stein. I can't wait. Where will our Ducks finish?
  13. A lot of the "not reported" teams have empty stands normally, except Utah. We're the only team in the west that approaches SEC type numbers. Colorado this year...clearly a neon effect.
  14. I've read some good articles that showcase the SEC and the patsies they schedule OOC and it has had little impact on making the playoff. Win your games and you'll make it. 13-0 is tough but with a 4 team playoff I think Oregon would be in regardless of OOC or Pac strength. 12-1 might be more realistic. Unfortunately polls impact perception. I think polls should be banned until after week 5 or 6. It tends to set the pecking order all season and several 12-1 teams screaming for the playoff and someone gets left out. Beating top 10 teams does seem to help leapfrog sometimes. I still think polls the first few weeks are dumb. Like the way too early top 25s...just click bait
  15. 4 of last 6 picks came from Liberty, Wagner, Old Dominion, and Princeton. TCU has a lot of picks...hmmm, made the natty
  16. Hopefully Lanning changes that single handedly
  17. I don't disagree Jon, but just saying, if they try hard for you they deserve to be there even if they don't ever see the field much. "Kicking kids out" doesn't seem right. If a kid chooses to bail hoping for playing time that's on them.
  18. Kids get recruited based on what they do in High School. Teams with good coaches (1. Player Development 2. A nose for talent that finds and develops those 3 Star Mariotas and LaMichaels and many others) will do fine. You offer a scholarship based on what you saw of the kid. If they work hard and try, they deserve the scholarship until they graduate (up to 5 years). As long as they don't do stupid stuff (armed robbery) although if Darron Thomas star QB says "we smoked it all occifer" and doesn't get booted, the same standard should apply to the other kids. We gave a few DUI kids another chance too.
  19. Looking thru all the threads I haven't seen a lineup in one article of who is coming. 9 Five Stars? Yeah baby
  20. He and Bittle are both better as 5's, so the true freshman replacing Ware will hopefully develop quick, and DA can use all the bigs a bit more situationally to some degree. Get the Guards and wings to shoot better and let's go!
  21. His Fresno St. almost beat us at Autzen, we had a lot more talent but coaching...not so much. He is a good coach but yes, down the road our top 10 or better classes and good coaching will be too much for the purple pooch mutts to overcome. Hope we blow them out in Seattle this fall.
