Neon just doesn't fit Boulder. Now if his nickname was "Hemp Birkenstock" it might.

Ducks Signing National Letter of Intent...Hooray!
JDuck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We'll have the talent and star rankings...again. Now, we have to beat OSU, UW, and Utah. Smith, DeBoer, and Whittingham are all fantastic coaches and it shows. Compare us to the beaver's recruiting class...just one 4* and a bunch of 2* with all their 3*. It'll be on our coaches to develop and scheme these players to the level of talent we posses. I'm confident that Lanning and company will do just that. With all the great recruiters on our staff, if we translate that to a lot of wins with NIx for one more season, next year could be the best ever year of 5* and SEC/tOSU level of recruiting like even Crisbal couldn't quite do here (he is doing it in the fertile recruiting hotbed of Florida though, right now) but while Miami will end up 7-5 under MC, a year or two down the road and WE could be the perennial playoff contender for years to come...but it's on the coaches to develop and scheme these kids to that level. -
Honors for Volleyball Players, Coach

11 Ducks in the Transfer Portal as of Tuesday
JDuck replied to DiscoDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Thornton is the biggest surprise to me, but these 11 and perhaps a few more to come will open up spots for Lanning and staff to get the players better fit to their system. I suspect some big flips coming too...build off of strong recruiting classes too, though the portal is going to be huge unless the rules change again. It gives schools a chance to get good fits immediately and bring experience to help bring along the freshman -
Expect the Holiday Bowl to Be a THRILLER
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
UNC may be the only team worse than Oregon in pass defense and lack of QB pressure. If we establish a run game and take advantage of their poor pass D and Nix is healthy, we can be the spread easily. Just a little bit of pressure and we'll do fine. We thought the same against the mutts though too. -
As Haywarduck says, we get to go to Seattle and beat him on his own turf.

I bet tOSU gets in for sure. Not sure who is #4...USuC has 2 losses now. LSU upsetting GA would really throw a wrench in all of it
-
Thoroughly enjoying watching USuC lose. Wonder what coulda been. It'll probably push us down to the Jockey Underwear Jiffy Stain Remover Bowl in Modesto, or the Tampax Tampon Bowl in Tampa, but I think the Crap 12 alliance with that one went away. Don't care, watching the condoms lose is worth it. Stincoln Riley can enjoy the Alamo. Welcome to the B1G and traditional USuC 8-4 seasons

Five Star QB Dante Moore Locked In With Oregon
JDuck replied to The Kamikaze Kid's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
That's my point, Uncle Phil could afford it, would we pay big dollar to keep an OC or DC that obviously could make more as a HC? HC can be a headache...maybe with more $$ they'd be thrilled to just be a coordinator and not have the HC pressures? -
Five Star QB Dante Moore Locked In With Oregon
JDuck replied to The Kamikaze Kid's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I assume the new OC will be someone that can both develop and coach a QB and an offense that might be tailored a bit towards Moore's skill set. A good O line and run game will be to everyone's advantage, and after Moore is the first overall pick in 2026 after our back-to-back Natty's, getting another great QB recruit will be easy. The question will be can we pony up $3M a year to keep the OC? -
Don’t Forget That Oregon’s Identity Is the Run Game
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Putting the true freshman Jordan James #20 in the back field spelled power run up the middle. It worked most of the season, but by the OSU game every defense knew what his presence meant, same as the Cristbal pistol plunge. Every defense knew what was coming. With a 1st and goal at the beaver 5, to run that 3 straight times was idiotic, going for the game win with a pass only on 4th down (failed). Try it once, then use play action to James the next couple downs and have a run to the field side with an RPO or pitch man option, or look for a TE leaking out the back. Something. Dilly's offense in general got more predictable as the season went on. The last few trick plays we tried late in the season all failed. The explosion pass plays, Nix wasn't too bad really. We succeeded a lot due to a great O-line. But yeah I agree the run needs to set it all up. That's a good identity. If this 5 star QB gets here, I hope his passing game is great and we use it...like the fuskies this year, but with much better run-first set-up than the mutts had. -
Still ranked #16 and the portal and new OC will make next year much different (every year will be like that now...but a big time QB coming in) and I liked what Canzano said...We finish 9-3 and big boosters are freaking out. OSU finished 9-3 and they are having a Corvallis-wide holiday and parade to celebrate. Keep it in perspective. Lanning will learn and grow, we'll get a top notch OC/QB coach. Defense will improve. Let's go destroy who ever we play in the Zips Underwear Irrelevant Bowl, and finish 10-3. I'll watch.

Rose Bowl Leftout of the CFP--Update: Finally Signed With CFB Playoff
JDuck replied to Tandaian's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If they are too picky they'll end up with Holiday bowl type of revenue. It'll be the game for the 4th place team from the Pac vs. the 5th place B1G team. It'll be like a sUCLA home game, 12k people in the stands. Cleanup and security costs should be low...that'll bump the rose bowl profits back up... -

I am a Blockhead, a Bumbling Buffoon...or am I Brilliant?
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The Defense. Finally, a healthy Flowe to go with Noah. Flowe has 1 tackle in each of the last 3 games. Zero pressure on QBs. Our O line allowed hardly any sacks, didn't think opponents O lines wouldn't either! -
GameDay Thread vs. Oregon State: Join Us!
JDuck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Why? Why? Why?!!! 3rd and goal from the 10, Jordan James should have been a decoy to block, throw the dang ball!!! Lanning better go FG here...he is wasting points again if he doesn't. This game is not over -

Canzano: Ducks-Beavers Rivalry Name-Game is Tired
JDuck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
"a war fought to perpetuate slavery..." Canzano quotes the brilliant university president. Ummm, the Civil War was fought to END slavery. At least that's how I look at it, but kids today (players) may not see it that way, what they teach in schools today is different than when I was in school -
Kenny Dillingham Has Talked with ASU
JDuck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
He's an ASU alum, right? Makes sense, but hopefully the aspirations of being the "HC" don't fog his better judgement...ASU is a dumpster fire. The cloud of sanctions and such hanging over Tempe is worse than a summer monsoon in the Sonoran desert. Which is the only relief from 122 degree days. KD is wiser than that, but we are looking through green and yellow tinted glasses that he may not have after less than a year in EUG. Perhaps if they offer him upper echelon OC money to stay put... -
Lanning Plays With Fire, Duck Fans Get Burned
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Of course I read the article, that's why I commented...and I agree with Charles. I've posted several times about what many of us call "cute" plays...and early in the season and against easier opponents, they worked better. It could also be like Chip's funky 2 point conversions...they worked sometimes, then opponents caught on. BUT...opponents then had to waste time in practice that week on Oregon's funky 2 point conversions. The onside kick against sUCLA was another one. The mutts were ready, but may have had to waste time in practice that week. But it paid off unfortunately for us. They have a place and keeps opponents on their toes. Just don't over-use them and go 0-3 like we did against the Utes. GO DUCKS, quiet down taco stadium early and often -
Lanning Plays With Fire, Duck Fans Get Burned
JDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The bark ratts seem to run lots of reverses and semi-trick plays. Hopefully our D is ready, and for our offense...quit doing the "cute" plays and do our thing...we can put up 600 yds on the rodents in their woodpile. Bo doesn't need to run much to make it happen
