  1. Yeah, Johnny Rodgers at Nebraska and Greg Pruit at Oklahoma were similar backs, fast, quick shifty, leave you grabbing at air when you thought you had them type backs. Nebraska's more pro-style offense allowed Rodgers to get lots of opportunities in open space. Pruit turned the grind it out wishbone into an explosive offense with his speed and illusiveness. They were both fun to watch. Not really seeing Oregon resurrecting the wishbone though.
  2. Having lived most of my life outside of Oregon, and only a few years in Oregon, it is hard for me to understand why anyone would WANT to leave. If I had the right opportunity (and family wouldn't rebel), I'd move back to Oregon in a heart beat!
  3. Yes, as much as a night game and the excitement it brings is attractive from a local standpoint, it is one of the things that isolates PAC 12 football. I would love to watch games, expecially Duck games, but when they are starting at 9 PST that mid-night for me and I work Sunday morning (clergy here). Even 7:30 or 8:00 allows me to watch the first half anyway.
  4. Just a note to the Georgia fans that have visited us here. It is great to have you! Love your input and hope you stick around beyond Sep. 3. You are representing UGA well.
  5. I would add Seven McGee to the receivers that can make big plays down field and turn any play with the ball in space into a big play. He needs 8 touches minimum. I also think, while certainly agreeing with limiting turnovers, we can't play too conservatively. We have to have some big plays and occasionally take some chances. Trust our playmakers. In all likelihood will will have a very good defense this year from day one. We can either say, we will play conservatively to help out the defense, or we will play aggressively and trust the defense. I don't think conservatively is going to beat UGA.
  6. That is one of the problems with these kinds of pre-season predictions. They too often give more consideration to who is not there than they do to who is there.
  7. So true. Very often is is because the preseason predictions are made with very minimal actual knowledge. I think that is probably the case here. Thanks for dropping in here and participating with us. Best of luck to your Dawgs after September 3.
  8. With a healthy Justin Flowe, the question isn't if Oregon will have the best linebackers in the PAC 12, that's a given. The question is only whether they will be the best in country. Even going to depth, this group is big, strong, fast, skilled and ready to get after people. I'm excited to see them take the field in September.
  9. Get that, but momentum is a strange thing. When it gets headed down hill for one team it can be hard to stop. OSU was unstoppable to everyone they played. Injured QB, no problem for them, next former high school all American up. They just kept rolling. It was hard to stop that momentum. If something had happened to put momentum in Oregon's favor, who knows. In the end, OSU was simply the best team in the country that year.
  10. I was thinking of their feeling of entitlement and thinking they would always win just because, well they are SC. I don't think that changes with the coach. I think they will be better with Riley, but how much better? Their fan base thinks they are winning and NC this year. Not happening.
  11. A lot of talent coming in. One or two of these 5 stars and then three or four of the four stars, commit and Oregon is suddenly a top 10, maybe top 5 ranked class for 2023 (and positioned with momentum to stay there).
  12. If USC isn't at or near the top of that list, it has no legitimacy.
  13. Nope, Charles is right 42-20 after stomping FSU. Couldn't stop Ezekiel Eliot that game, but neither could anyone else, including Alabama. The 22 point final margin was a bit deceiving it didn't feel like Oregon was out of that game until near the end. A break here or there and the outcome could have been different.
  14. Agree on all of these, Nix should definitely be higher on that list. Caleb Williams may be a bit overrated, but Williams putting up better numbers because he's playing against PAC 12 defenses assumes that they play good defense in the Big 12, which isn't necessarily the case.
  15. Getting 2-4 of these guys would be massive. Add a top QB prospect... and Oregon is on the way to a top 10 class. For this staff to get that done in their first full class would be amazing.
  16. I haven't seen all the linebackers in college football for this coming year, but it's hard to imagine a better linebacker than Noah Sewell. He's a big, strong, athletic player, aggressive, strong hitter and tackler, and plays smart. That's a great anchor for the D. With Lanning and Lupoi putting their collective heads together to scheme ways to unleash his potential on opposing offenses, it's going to be fun to watch!
  17. Yes, move him around, make defenses game plan to stop Seven and then have to look for where he is each play, back field, slot, out wide, in motion for a jet sweep of fake, turn that into a wheel rout or cut it off to a short crossing rout and watch what happens with yards after the catch. If he gets the ball with space anywhere on the field it's a potential big play! His presence then opens up other parts of the offense.
  18. As someone who has never placed a bet on sports and never plans to, the spread is too much. It will be hard to beat UG in Atlanta, but I'm expecting a competitive game. Anything over 10 points and I would take Oregon, maybe even make my first sports wager ever.
  19. Man, reading this thread makes me miss Oregon. As much as I love the mountains, how did I end up on the eastern Shore of Maryland and Western Ohio. I need a trip out west for and Oregon fix bad!
  20. Though the lean is still Bama, the trend for Richard Young looks like Oregon. Let's hope that last visit is the one that locks him in. The 10 guys scheduled for that weekend, so far, could be the seeds of a fantastic recruiting year if we get 3 or 4 of them, especially if Young is one of those 3 or 4. Would be great to see a few of these guys commit during or right after the weekend. These things can start to snowball if that happens.
  21. Current commits working to get other guys in is no guarantee but it can really help sometimes. It wouldn't be the first time some good friends have gotten together and said, "Let's go to XU and win some championships together." Whether he has that kind of pull with other players or not, the positivity around the program is great to have.
  22. Wow, that was fun! Thanks Smith 72! Yeah, duck 1972, for most guys YAC is grinding out 2 or 3 more yards. With LaMichael is was often 20 or 30. Better get him the first time, you won't get another chance! Looks like we are recruiting for that kind of speed again. Would be great to see that kind of excitement returning!
  23. Didn't play a lot year one, but before the injury last year he was very effective. Good get, this guy catches a lot of passes.
  24. Great article. Stretching the field vertically and horizontally puts more pressure on the defense to defend more area. Throwing deep and getting speed to the corner, then makes power running more effective. It's win, win all around. I'm ready!
  25. Yeah, reads small on paper, but runs tough, doesn't run over people but slips out of tackles. I really like his speed and "quick feet". He is going to be really good in open space too.
