  1. Aren't we glad we were wrong? I was sitting in Section 35 neer the field when the roar went up from the crowd. #10 came out with the Offense! I was still thinking we would maybe see him just for a few downs, to see if he could go but I'll be danged if he didn't go the entire game! And, he had the last run to seal it.
  2. If I had to guess (and I guess I am) it sounds like he's not only leaving but he's already played his last game, perhaps. Or ... this is the greatest example of a mis-direction play this season and he's good-to-go today and the rest of the season. 50-50.
  3. Oregon 34-30 1 2 250
  4. It'll be a shame if Utah catches Oregon minus Bo and/or Forsyth & Walk. At 100% (offense) I'm not sure Utah could keep up with Oregon who would probably score in the 30's. Not unless Cam Rising can duplicate Penix's outing which I doubt seriously. College Game Day went 6-0 Utah. Probably because of Nix and Utah's physical-type of play. Doesn't mean they're right. GO DUCKS!
  5. Understood. But we don't know that Ty can't throw (or run!) the ball too. We haven't seen much from him yet, true, but this weekend we may get our first, really long, hard look at him and what he can do. If Bo is out, then Ty's getting ALL the attention, coaching and preparation aimed straight at him. By the end of this game we should know a lot more about who Ty Thompson really is; future star ... or maybe something else. Fingers crossed. Don't lose faith, yet.
  6. Sans an injury report on Nix, Forsyth and Ryan Walk, we just have to trust the rest of the team, including Ty T, to rally around each other and play hard. They will. Oregon has better than a fighters chance in this one. The above video on YouTube is a pretty good one and maybe it'll help buck up the spirits in time for what could prove to be the pivotal game of the season. I'm not warm and fuzzy on this one but I'm not resigned to see it as a loss either. GO DUCKS!
  7. No, you're probably right. The Ducks probably won't be blowing out Utah - they're far too good for that. But a win (by any margin) to close out the home season would sure be nice!
  8. Wether or not coaching moves seem "fair" or not to players should be balanced against players transferring in and out of programs as well. One could almost say it isn't "fair" to the coaches when great players (like Travis Dye) suddenly bolt for another team too. Unfortunately, it's part of the college football landscape nowadays. And, like Steven A points out above, at this moment there is no indication either Lanning or Dillingham are going anywhere. So, sit back and enjoy what we have, while we still have it. GO DUCKS.
  9. Buck up Kirkland, Bo might play and if not, Ty might surprise the collegiate world. O still has the best O-line in the nation, still has Bucky Irving, Noah Whittingham, Troy Franklin, Noah Sewell, Justin Flowe, Brandon Dorlus, etc., etc. AND a slew of good, really good, TE's. Ty won't be alone out there!
  10. Have faith cartm25. No one knows what will happen but it could be something special. But win or lose, it's the last home game of this season and Oregon is still in the hunt.
  11. Well said, Annie! Here, Here! Only I'm planning to be there with friends late nIghtt or not. It's the last home game and it's Senior Night and who knows ... it might be the beginning of a new era for OBD and their new QB. GO DUCKS!
  12. If Ty gets the start tomorrow, this will be his turn to shine! Oregon has a lot to play for and I'm going to be in the stands cheering OBD on with all my intensity. GO OREGON! BEAT THEM UTES!!
  13. Making a blanket statement (as some did above) that Lanning may have been "out-coached" by Karen Deboar is rather severe. Throughout the course of 60 minutes of football there is a LOT of coaching that went into that before the game even started, not to mention what occurred during the game. And this game went right down to the wire with either team in position to win it. Lanning may (may being the operative word) have made a mistake at a critical moment, but so may have DeBoar. The difference being UW won and O lost so fans, media and critics all pile on the loser. Had Oregon scored a TD instead of kicking the last FG critics would have been piling on DeBoar for not going for the 1st down earlier when he opted to kick the FG instead. (I'm talking about the one that brought them to within 4 of Oregon). So, there you are. Win: your brilliant. Lose: your not. Win: you out-coached your opponent, lose: you were out-coached. That's fans, media and critics.
  14. It would. O had over 300 yards against UW but somehow still lost the game. Utah has a stiffer run defense but as good as Oregon's O-line is (haven't heard any updates on Forsyth or Walk) 200+ may be doable. O will need that regardless of who's taking the snaps. The best news is UW's passing game, which beat us, is better than Utah's.
  15. I know a lot of Duck fans that are hoping you are right. On multiple levels, not just because O is still in the Conference title hunt. Not the least of which it's Senior Night and O has two tough defeats to avenge but mostly because Nix is likely leaving after this season and O needs Ty Thompson to take the reins. GO DUCKS!
  16. Run the ball. Run the ball like the Ducks did on that 99 yard drive but make sure to get into the end zone. FG's won't beat Cam Rising and Utah. Go Ducks!
  17. My friend Tim and I had the unfortunate luck to be sitting behind several Husky fans who were actually cheering when first Ryan Walk was injured, then later in the game when Bo was down. I didn't know fans would actually do that - certainly not in the home park of their opponent - but cheer they did. I spoke out about it to the most obnoxious of the three, only to find it just urged him on to 'cheer' harder. Dog hooting is a better description of his vocal responses during the injuries. I think I now know a little more why this particular rivalry between O & UW is so vitriolic. How can one justify cheering injuries to players of any team, any time, in any game? Alcohol probably had a lot to do with it.
  18. lol You've noticed that as well! I heartily agree.
  19. Thing could be looking bright for the future.
  20. Well, I never pretend to speak for more than just myself. I want to see Oregon win as much as anyone. But I would prefer to see them win on the field of combat, within the rules of conduct and the proscribed parameters of the game. This seems the best course to me as the men in charge of coaching these fine young men teach them the secrets for success at their sport while also teaching them the secrets to success in Life. Cheating to win does not seem to me to be a secret for success in any field. Let's remind ourselves nothing has been proven that Coach Lanning or Lupoi or any other coach at Oregon has ever instructed their players to cheat.
  21. Oh...David! You're making my head hurt with all this analysis. How on earth is a schlump like me going to be able to keep all this straight? I know! I'll just root for Oregon to win out and close my eyes and pray. No, wait ... if they win out ... I don't have to close my eyes and pray! Right? Thanks!!! (great post).
  22. Maybe this will give Coach Whittingham and staff some uneasy nights sleeping this week.
  23. One of the more interesting features of college football for me is to see how/IF coaches can install necessary changes to the Offense (when needed) and the Defense (when needed) as the season progresses. Once again, we have a great opportunity to see how O's coaching staff reacts to the last game, what changes they've made and prepare for Utah's unique challenge at the same time.
  24. Fortunately, O has a pretty 'fair' running attack featuring a mobile QB which brings the RPO into play as well as the screens and down-field throws. Maybe the Utes haven't been tested like they're going to be tested this time around?
  25. I think I'd almost rather see Oregon as the underdog in this one after what happened last week. The pressure is more on Utah without the expectation of Oregon winning. Either the odds-makers feel Utah is the better team or they think Bo Nix's injury (along with maybe Forsyth's and Walk's) is more serious than we know. It's exactly why I don't gamble $. It makes it more fun to just watch and enjoy the game without worrying about losing money.
