  1. From the above report from Pennsylvania Duck: Players recruited by Dan Lanning so far, alleviating (to a huge degree) the loss of Crstobal's recruiting prowess. 5-star QB Dante Moore 5-star WR Jurrion Dickey 4-star WR Ashton Cozart 4-star RB Dante Dowdell 4-star CB Caleb Presley 4-star TE Kenyon Sadiq 4-star CB Cole Martin I wonder how many will stay committed IF Kenny Dillingham takes the gig at ASU? Starting with the 1st player named ... let's hope all of them!
  2. Bingo David. Bingo! If we have to lose a coach at least the college sniping him away can pay us for the privilege of taking him off our hands. It's the best part of that whole nasty business.
  3. That's because Ed Ray made it that way with his insipid decision to go political in renaming it. It was never thought political in nature before that!
  4. It's what everybody I talked to at the last tailgater before beating Utah called it. No one I spoke wants to call it any other name and no one I talked to said it's about race or slavery. It's about two football teams from two colleges less than 100 miles apart. Nothing more, nothing less. What nonsense!
  5. I think my worries about what would happen after this year's graduation of O-linemen moved on to the next level are being addressed. Oh, yea of little faith, says my inner conscience ...Klemm seems to have a clear plan.
  6. Feathers managed to refresh us with one of my favorite quotes form one of my favorite poets, W.B. Yeats; he of the 'Second Coming' poem. It's Thanksgiving so we'll not dwell on that one but instead remind ourselves of all we have to be thankful for, all those whose lives have touched ours and just sit back an enjoy the remainder of this already historic football season for the Ducks. It's been a treat - a much as it's been a surprise. Go Ducks! Beat those Beavers. Beat them soundly but beat them fairly.
  7. Maybe one of you Eugene folk could snap a photo of one of the 'Killer' burgers and drop a link. U know, for those of us who live miles and miles away. It's probably not something coming to our urban-area towns anytime soon, if ever. Are they as good as other burgers? As a RB, LaMichael was definitely a cut above almost all other RB's. Maybe his burgers will be too. Never mind, plenty of photos already on-line. They look pretty good!
  8. And still it's not enough, apparently, to keep him on staff? Let ASU enrich him if that's what Kenny wants. And may he last longer than the average new Head Coach in the CFB, if that's what he wants. Or, if he's successful will he bolt them for the next big gig? Probably. If this is what occurs (nothings happened yet) then Kenny wasn't a real Duck after all. He would prove to just be an O.C. for hire; for the most money. Wherever. So be it.
  9. From the above article we read this: In June of 2020, then-Oregon State president Ed Ray talked with then-Oregon president Michael Schill and issued a statement. Ray wrote, “Changing this name is overdue as it represents a connection to a war fought to perpetuate slavery.” In regards to this I say: "Changing this name was stupid and anti-historical as it once represented a war fought to end slavery. And it did. Drop this politically-correct nonsense and stop the virtue-signaling. Let the fans have their excitement and let's never forget what it cost this nation to free an enslaved people. Ed Ray should be rejected for this . just my opinion
  10. Yep. They get soooooo much $$ for a 2-5 year contract somewhere that even if the situation goes bust after a few years they're pretty well set to ride out a year or three and take another gig somewhere. These coaches can make a salary in just a few years it would take coaches of past years decades to accumulate. So why stay at one school when you can hop from program to program gaining riches? Lane Kiffen comes to mind in this regard. Oh well. He's not gone yet.
  11. Doesn't look like Utah's TE is enjoying the scoot.
  12. Can't say I blame Kenny for interviewing but this "coaches come - coaches go" thing really sucks. He's only been here for 11 games so far and already he's getting ready to pack his bags? Crap, crap and more crap. On KPNW this morning their "Duckness of Greatness' interview was with former RB's coach Gary Campbell, coach for players from Tony Cheery and LaGarrett Blount to LaMichael James and Kenyon Barner. I believe he was the longest tenured coach in Oregon football history, or close to it. 23 years! Compare that to today's "I'm here to build a winning program at Oregon! - oops, No, now I'm off to ________. See ya!" coaches. I guess I'll wish him luck (if he gets and takes the gig) but it'd be an easier pill to swallow if he at least went to a school in a different conference.
  13. It's still "the Civil War" because that's what most (if not all) the fans are calling it at all the tailgaters I dropped into the last two games.
  14. Looking carefully at the list ranking the recruiters above I notice an interesting thing. Two different recruiters for USC have recruited the same individual (Zachariah Branch) for two different positions, Corner Back and Wide Receiver. This same recruit ups each recruiter's composite score. Take that player (Branch) away from either recruiter and their scores drop considerably. Meaning (since a player can, theoreticlly play both positions) the Oregon recruiters stack up even better than they already do as opposed to USC. This is a tremendous showing for Oregon and one probably a bit disappointing for USC.
  15. Well now. At the 8:20 mark forward, Bo answers the ever present question of how well (or not) is his backup (TT) ready to go in the event he can't. This answer alone would make this revealing interview worth the watch. I hope you all listened carefully to what he says and how he feels about Ty and his 'readiness' to go. Especially from the 9:05 mark on.
  16. Finally, a reason to stop dumping on Tosh Lupoi. Let him recruit. Let someone else scheme the defense.
  17. Can the converse be true? Of course. And there-in comes the in-game decisions that HC's have to make. To go for it when and making it leaves the opponent already in scoring position without even having to make another 1st down, late in a very close game, with time running out, is a very High Risk, Low Reward decision imo. Had Oregon been down 3 (or more) points, then the decision is totally different. In a tie game I think Lanning now realizes it was not the best decision and probably cost them the game. Oregon never got close enough to score again after UW made with their decision to kick the FG instead of trying for a 4th down conversion. Regardless, the decision was made, the game was played and everything is now water under the bridge.
  18. I can remember when Utah & Colorado were invited to join the Pac to make it a 12 team league. There were some who thought it would diminish the league's image and importance. Now we have a situation where USC & UCLA are skedaddling for another league while teams like Utah are more than just competitive. They have actually won the League Championship while USC and UCLA are only now just getting competitive themselves, once again. Good riddance to the two LA schools, if that's what they want. It's high time the league found other schools where a Pac-12 Championship would still mean something to them and their fans. There are other choices out there - teams that can compete (and beat) both of those two departing schools.
  19. Because, remember that slip by Whittingham on 4th down against UW? Slip or not, UW had that played stopped, which is probably why Noah fell trying to change direction in front of a wall of on-rushing defenders. And the 3-pts. UW got ended up as the winning margin. There's a time to go for it and there's a time not too. And knowing the right time is what a Head Coach gets paid for. OSU is UW & Utah-like defense-wise or better. This will likely be a low-scoring affair and Oregon has the better FG kicker by far. Get the TD's if they're there. Kick the FG's if they aren't. (Imo).
  20. I'm afraid that OSU is just good enough to beat Oregon if Bo isn't at or near 100%. Yeah, I know that's giving them a lot of credit but this time I feel they deserve it. That means, no Ty unless Bo just can't go any longer. That one last run for the crucial 1st down against Utah should be enough to convince OSU that they can't rule anything out when it come to the QB keeping the ball. That said, we all know (the Beavers included) Bo can't likely do what Bo's been doing all year: run 20 yards into the end zone or 15 yards to the 1st down. We may very well see both Ty and Jay behind center (Lord, I hope it's Forsyth!). And here, I'm kinda in your camp: give Jay a shot. So far, Ty hasn't performed. We all know that. It's do or die time now.
  21. Well, Washington beat us (ugh!) but barely and USC we haven't played (yet!). So as a marker we have Utah only to compare with. We struggled with Utah and almost lost that one (though with an injured QB). The Beavers lost a tough one in Salt Lake while we got them at home. They also lost a tough one in Seattle by the same margin we lost by - at home. Yeah, the Beavers are gonna be tough to beat - but then, they always are. This year they have the horses to make life even more miserable for Oregon again. But, not to lose faith: I'm picking Oregon but only by about the same margin as the odds-makers, 4.5 points.
  22. In stark contrast to the Ute fans were some Husky fans (and that's stretching the word 'fan') in the same section. My friend Tim has season tickets here and it's also where tickets often come available to fans from the other team so we get a good look at various team's fans. The Husky fans were terrible, unlike Utah's and Eastern Washington's both. So, Charles's 'Husky Hate Week' can be understood by how poorly they behaved in front of us. Utah's fans were great! EW sent fewer to the game but were well behaved as well.
  23. When Ryan Walk was interviewed recently about the upcoming game in Corvallis (YouTube) he was asked about what he remembered from the game two years ago, in the fog, that OSU won. And then he was asked about an 'incident' (?) that occurred afterwards as a "line of cars with lights and honking" went on. Anyone know what that was about? I don't recall anything about that.
  24. We (Tim & I) were fortunate to be sitting in Section 35 next to some fans from Utah and we saw the same class from them you mention. It couldn't have been easy for them a time or two not the least because there were a couple young Duck fans (probably drunk) who were misbehaving and embarrassing all of us. But they weathered it well and didn't retaliate back at them. Collegiate football should be about friendly rivalries with mutual resect for fans and athletes both. The Utah fans we were next to epitomized that. Pass our well-wishes on to your friends from us!
  25. Probably gone is the ability for Oregon to score points in bunches like earlier in the season. And/or quickly. Bo's injury (and Forsyth's, etc.) and the quality of defenses going forward from their opponents have likely changed all that. So, now what? My guess is T.O.P. to go way up, ie: long drives (if achievable) from more running plays with an enhanced consideration for the field goal option. Our kicker has proven very reliable (if close enuf). I believe the Beavers kicker is less so. It could come down to a score like the Utah game's with both teams under 24 again. In fact, I'm almost certain it will. We may also see less of this risk-taking with trick plays but I'm less certain of that.
