Oregon's 5-Star QB Verbal, Dante Moore, is GONE?
Mic replied to Jemangi's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
A guy could sit up nights worrying about all this s_it if he weren't careful Dante will come if he comes and not if he doesn't. There's nothing fans can do but wait and see. Besides, who knows? He could be another enigma like our other 5-star QB who is still yet to show anyone why he rated 5 stars in the 1st place. Getting a good replacement for Dillingham is far more important than another QB recruit, imo. -
Not sure what you mean by him "coming back for two or three more seasons" but no, he only has one season of eligibility left - but only if he opts out as the article says. I expect he'll declare for the draft IF there is interest in him by the right NFL teams - which I also expect will be the case. The one option I certainly hope he does not take is the option to play one more year of collegiate football for his QB mentor Kenny Dillingham. If that happens Oregon will certainly suffer, both in the recruiting wars and the gridiron. Losing him to a Pac-12 opponent would be the worst case scenario for Oregon. I don't expect him to do that but one never knows, does one?

It's unfortunate (for Oregon) that Dillingham went to another Pac-12 school. If he succeeds in rebuilding the Sun Devil's program and can build them into a national offensive power Oregon will have to deal with that as well as a re-emergent Washington and Oregon State. But, that's football. I wouldn't bet against Dillingham succeeding at ASU. They're roughly twice the size of Oregon and they have a lot of resources to invest in their sports programs. A winning program there and Oregon will find the recruiting more difficult in a state we've done very well in the past few seasons.

This is the same question I asked this forum earlier and the answer I gave was "no thanks". I want no part of it. I'm no fan of Mario C and am glad he's elsewhere but this constant ragging on him, a former Duck, was/is wearing a might thin. If this squabbling turns on Dilly (whom we all wish was still a Duck) then count me out.

Interesting Similarities Between Lanning and...
Mic replied to Coach Eric Boles's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If Lanning can rally his team from this devastating loss (and Dillingham's leaving) and win whatever bowl game they get then O still has a chance to finish with a 10-win season. That's something. In fact, that's more than just something - for a 1st year coach. I wonder if Bo Nix, should he decide to play out his last year of eligibility, would consider leaving for ASU to continue under Dilly? -
Shaw is a gentleman and was a pretty fair coach. He coached his team to some big wins and some good seasons while laboring under some pretty tough recruiting standards higher than most universities. I think he's probably had his fill of this nasty business of collegiate, semi-professional, minor league football - once known as amateur sport. Good luck to him in his next career wherever that may be. He's one of College footballs good guys, imo.

What about a new D.C.? It'd be my preference if Tosh were let go and someone else were brought in to replace him - on several levels. However, with the departure of the O.C. it might not be the best time to be making a change at both positions simultaneously. Besides, Tosh is a pretty good recruiter.

This does make you wonder if leaving Oregon the way he did might be something that haunts Willie T. late at night. His meteoric rise peaked when he was at Oregon and started a long, winding descent after his departure to Fla. State only to continue downward since. That's a tough thing for someone to have to face. I take no pleasure from seeing his firing, nor will I if/when Mario get's let go at Miami as well. But that's way too early to predict at this point.

Holiday Bowl perhaps, yes. I was speaking factiously about the Alamo Bowl where, in 2016, Oregon lost to TCU after a huge half-time lead (31-0) they fell off the tracks and ended up losing in O.T. Sorta reminiscent of Saturday's 4th qtr meltdown. Almost incomprehensible.

R we now to assume that Kenny Dillingham has now become, like Mario, fair game in the targeting business and anything goes about him as well? No thanks.

Transfer Portal: How Many Players Follow Dillingham?
Mic replied to Duck 68's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
As many who want off a 'sinking ship' I would imagine. Whether or not this ship called Oregon is sinking is still a matter of conjecture but it certainly appears to be taking on water. -
They seem a "natural" for another Alamo Bowl. I think that was the one they had the huge, insurmountable lead and lost the game in the 2nd Half, wasn't it?: Yeah, a good choice perhaps.

Somehow, Joey Harrington has never struck me as the type to coach, at least not at the H.C or O.C. position. QB's coach, perhaps. But then, I never thought Johnathan Smith would be successful at OSU either and he's certainly proven a lot of people wrong there. Imagine if Smith had the same recruits Oregon has right now? !!
-
I imagine Kenny D will be criss-crossing the country before the ink is even dry on his new ASU contract. As the team is situated right now they need a lot of help and either he finds what he needs in the transfer portal (maybe he gets Donte Moore to change commits from O to ASU) or he starts getting the best recruits he can find, fast. I really don't know if any team in the CFB can be successful recruiting without all the time and effort put into it like O has. Maybe Alabama, USC, Ohio St, Michigan and such can just sit back and wait for recruits to call but not O or ASU or the rest of the 120+ remaining schools out there.
-
That ought to frost the Beavers. Still ranked below Oregon after their 4th qtr. throttling of the Ducks! The Beavers are like the Rodney Dangerfield of CFB.
-
What's the point? If whoever they hire does well, they'll likely leave for another team as soon as another opening comes along. A pattern is establishing itself here and fans had ought to look closely at why Oregon can't keep their coaches when other schools can. Is there a toxic environment here or is Oregon just seen by the rest of the FBS as a stepping stone program for personal advancement?

Ducks vs Oregon State: Game-Prep Article Thread
Mic replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
ABC = me no see. I'll catch the final score sometime during the day I'm sure, with friends and family glued to their sets. GO DUCKS! -
There are a lot of posts on this forum. As one who's reposted material already covered (as you remember) It's very difficult for anyone to read them all, especially when they come in and out at different times and some "hot" posts start to dominate the board. Your forum can be lot to wade thru at times, sir. But that's a tribute to how many people you've successively lured or enticed to the site. Success can have its frustrations, I'm sure! Smile, it's Thanksgiving and OBD are about to collide with the flat-tailed rodents in a game that has real meaning for both teams. A win-win for everyone. GO DUCKS!

Ducks vs Oregon State: Game-Prep Article Thread

I probably won't get a chance to post my 'guess' at the final 'game score prediction' so here it is: Oregon, 24-21. I know is's not in Charles' required format but it's not a entry into his prediction contest. Just my chance to show everyone how stupid I am at guessing final scores. GO DUCKS! -
Needs a LOT of work.

Scott has probably be out of the game too long. Today's kids probably don't know who is is or what he did. But I wouldn't be opposed to him being named, if Lanning even knows who he is. He's also from our neck of the woods, Marshfield HS, Coos Bay. Almost a 'local' kid, er ... man for us near Reedsport.

Oregon Ducks Football: New Rivalry Game Name
Mic replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Publicly or privately? Two very different things. Everyone's afraid nowadays of being labeled racist in the media. -
Who knows how good this class (already very good) might get should the Ducks handle business against the Beavers and the Trojans? Big series of games coming up fast!
