  1. Yes, O lost a down due to illegal touching but the "force out of bounds" should have been called but was not. And THAT wasn't reviewable. And yes, apparently Hutson did fake the injury and was even stupid enough to admit it to reporters. Both of which are dead wrong!
  2. I don't care where they come from, HS, JC or transfer. As long as they are willing to work hard to learn the system and become a Duck, AND have talent, they're welcome aboard. Good job coach. (If anyone knows talent it ought to be Klemm.)
  3. Well, I can't agree with your wish for the Utes to win but I will admit you're a refreshing change from most of the UW fans we had to deal with last weekend. There were quite a few in our end of the stadium and when fans root during injuries to the opponent (which some of them did) you know you're dealing with a pretty low class of individual. I too hope for an injury-free game, for everyone. GO DUCKS!
  4. For the life of me I have no idea why anyone, esp. the coaches and players, would have any confidence in TT given what we've seen of him (in games) this season. But if they say they do - either they're saying that to keep the sharks from circling the team or they actually feel that way. And if they do feel that way then I guess I need to stop fretting about it and just sit back and watch what happens Saturday night. In its own way, this could turn out to be the single most important game of the entire season. And it's Senior Night.
  5. No, you're correct. The few times Penix was hurried or threatened he did make either a bad throw, a throw-away or checked down to a back underneath for a short (or no) gain. The amazing thing was Oregon DIDN'T dial things up in the 2nd Half. And especially after kicking that last FG to go up by only 7 with their QB hurt. They appeared to think they would just score some more if needed. And they couldn't.
  6. What? Must *cheat or perish? Perish the thought! Lupoi was let go under a cloud at three different schools, Cal, Washington and Alabama. Now he has Lanning convinced this is how to win? If it's true (and that's far from proven) then I don't care what Lanning's record is at Oregon. I'd rather he move elsewhere. Let's wait til we find out the truth.
  7. I've considered all four options listed in the article and in my mind, there is NO good option for Cal. They might as well admit defeat and let the Bruins skedaddle for the B1G and take their chances. It seems to me replacing UCLA and USC with two other schools to keep the conference at 12 teams is the best way forward. In a few years people will forget they were ever part of the Pac-12 - and now just bottom-feeders in the B1G instead.
  8. From 'New Coach & Staff, w/some new, mostly veteran players' - to - '2nd year Coach & Staff w/some vets, mostly new players. That pretty much sums things up. At least at the starting positions.
  9. This should be a boost to recruiting.
  10. Perhaps. But O's running out of time.
  11. I wonder how efficient O will be at this if Ty Thompson is the QB Saturday?
  12. In the article by Duckswire above they mention the loss last year to Utah and then declare the Utes have a chance to make it a "second loss in a row". Of course, we all know O lost twice to Utah last year, by nearly identical scores. A loss this year would be the 3rd in a row. For better or worse, I'll be there to see it unfold. I'm hoping, unlike last game, there aren't a bunch of obnoxious fans from the opponent sitting near us. It was nearly unbearable to hear all the dog hoots and taunting that went on when Ryan Walk Alex Forsyth and Bo Nix were injured. Then the final score.
  13. Here's hoping TT proves all of us doubters wrong. If he can make the game competitive I'll be the first to admit I was wrong because I've been one of those beating on this dead horse too. Even if O loses the game - if Ty can make a good show of it I'll feel better.
  14. Not a fan of this combo. But then, I liked last week's Yellow and look where that got us.
  15. Pro-Bo: we lose by 10. No-Bo: we lose by 30. I'd like to say that I'm just joshing around here (and I know I said I had learned my lesson when I picked UCLA) but given what we saw last weekend, I don't think this is joshing around anymore. If healthy, Bo can help O keep it close. Without Bo I don't see any way Oregon can score more than 10 points, tops. This isn't my "official" Game Prediction yet. I reserve the right to alter it when Charles posts the Game Prediction post on Friday. Maybe by then we'll know more about Bo, Ryan and Alex. Without all three and it will be worse.
  16. If true, this is great news. We're losing some real good O-linemen after this season and getting a 5-star this good is huge for Oregon. Now all we need is about 3 more like him!
  17. My confidence for him is a little higher - at about 10%. And that's only because he's been given the role as backup.
  18. I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about this, as I said before. If Bo can't go Utah is gong to dine, no, feast on Oregon Duck Saturday night.
  19. If this is true then I don't like it - not one bit. Tosh Lupoi was caught doing that when the D.C. at Cal - against Oregon!!! His coach reprimanded him for it. It's one of the reasons I'm not a fan of Lupoi. Lord, I don't want to think Dan Lanning is the same kind of person. It's wrong!
  20. I won't disagree but ... good luck with that one.
  21. While your statement might be true, Penix is hardly an "ordinary" QB. Neither is Cam Rising. So far, it's taken a defending National Champion and a legit Heisman QB candidate with three very good receivers to beat us. Not because our Defense is playing well but because our Offense was good enough to cover for them while they were averaging ~30 points (given up) per game. It was only a matter of time before it all caught up to us - and Utah might be loss #3.
  22. Great for whom? Not Oregon! Actually, it's good to see him back in that every athlete deserves to play if they're willing and able. And I guess we want Utah at their 'best' when we play them. If we beat them, then it means that much more.
  23. I don't think O can change enough (this quick) to shore up all the holes in this defense. Cam Rising, while not quite what Penix is, is still a very good QB. KPNW reported this morning that Oregon is very guarded and not commenting on the condition of Bo Nix, Alex Forsyth and Ryan Walk, 3 of the most important starters on Offense. Just when Oregon may need every single point they can muster the Offense enters the game with a limp. Possibly a very serious limp.
  24. I agree (because of what's on the line right now) but I can imagine Coach Tosh might be feeling a bit "uncomfortable" right about now. If you think about it his performance at D.C. isn't a lot better than Musgrave's at O.C.
  25. Oregon's next QB challenge may be as dangerous as Michael Penix. Cameron Rising has had some pretty good games flinging the ball around. Here's a quick look at part of his 'resume': • Pac-12 All-Conference first-team in 2021. • 2021 Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year semifinalist. • 11 career games with 200+ passing yards, including one 300-yard game and one 400-yard-game. • 22 career games with 20 starts. 2022: Has played and started eight games at quarterback, going 161-of-240 (3 INT, 16 TDs) for 2,006 yards. Named to the Davey O’Brien Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Manning Award, and the Maxwell Award Watch List. • Named as a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award. • Named to the Davey O’Brien Award Class of 2022. • Named Davey O’Brien National Co-Quarterback of the Week following the win over No. 7 USC. Earned Manning Award Starts of the Week and Davey O’Brien Award Great 8 following the win over USC. • Named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the win over No. 7 USC. • Ranks third in the Pac-12 and ranks seventh nationally in ESPN’s QBR (87.4). • Ranks third in the Pac-12 in completion percentage (.671) and fourth in passing efficiency (156.8). • He has 36 career touchdown passes, which ranks 10th all-time in Utah history. • Was 22-of-32 (68%) with 216 passing yards and a touchdown against Florida.
