  1. Makes me wonder if USC might be a bit thin in the RB room? One wouldn't think so, USC used to be RB U. This might put a dent in their playoff hopes and just in time for them to have to play UCLA and ND.
  2. USC RB Travis Dye carted off with leg injury WWW.MSN.COM USC running back Travis Dye had to be carted off the field during Friday night's game against Colorado after suffering a leg injury. Dye went down awkwardly as he was being tackled at the end of... Sounds like it might be serious. Bummer.
  3. I forgot they were playing tonight. I hope he's not seriously injured. No hard feelings for him transferring. After all, we got Bucky & Noah in return.
  4. It was reported earlier this the week that he was in full pads but not going thru the reps or some such It was in Tuesday's practice report by Ducks Territory. the same article mentioned that Chase Cota did not participate in practice, D.J. Johnson did and was fully padded, etc. A little vague on Taki Taimani's status. DuckTerritory's Tuesday practice report for Washington week 247SPORTS.COM DuckTerritory's Tuesday practice report for Washington week It was one of the many articles posted here under game prep thread for the Washington game. I'm hoping he's just healing from the usual bumps and bruises. After all, he's one of the Seniors and he knows his role better than anyone.
  5. That's right, their strength against O's weakness. And vice versa: O's strength against theirs. The stuff legendary games are made of. Lupoi's D gets the strongest test of the year so far. And they get their strongest test to see if they can slow down Bo Nix, Bucky Irving, Troy Franklin and our TE's. GO DUCKS!
  6. What was it the late, great Frank Zappa once wrote? "Don't eat the yellow snow; that's where the huskies go!" But then, it never snows in Autzen stadium.
  7. He'll find another. Maybe Gulbranson will be available next year. I think the Beavers are looking for a change.
  8. My friend is driving down from Portland - I'll meet him in Eugene and we'll go in to Autzen together. He tells me about the traffic (I come from the south) and all the headaches he has to deal with each game but esp. this one. But he says there's ONE consolation: The cars & trucks sporting Oregon regalia far outweigh the scattered Husky-adorned rigs. And he tells me he never gives them the courtesy of cutting in-line. He drives safe but they have to fend for themselves. Even some Big Rigs will be sporting Duck gear. Probably not many sporting Dawg collars.
  9. All one needs to know about the Huskies National Championship bona-fides is summed up in this single sentence from the above article. (I'm going to assume it's correct). Consider the facts; Our Beloved Ducks won more National Championships in a touch over three years than Washington won in 105 years.
  10. More wins, certainly.
  11. Eeeesssshhh! I hope I haven't ;eft for Eugene by then. Just in case: my prediction will be: My 'Joey Harrighton' prediction: Oregon 52, UW 10 . My 'official' prediction: Oregon 42, UW 28 T.O's 2 Sacks: 3 Yards passing (O) 300 Yards running (O) 250 Penalties: Lord only knows Targeting calls: See Pac-12 Referees guide sheet
  12. One can laugh at all this nonsense above but in reality, this is the sort of thing that can (and will) eventually lead to lawyers and agents determining which players go where, just like Pro Football. And what a sad day that will be for everyone who loves Collegiate Sports. Again, just my own opinion. Time to focus on happier things! GO OREGON - BEAT THEM 'DAWGS!!
  13. Next to Bo Nix, this guy is probably the most critical loss if he isn't able to compete. Yeah, we have others who are ready to step in but not to his level of reading the defenses and directing line play. Plus, those 'others' mean players leaving slots on the O-line and hence a line shuffle. Not what one wants before a big game like this. But I think O will be fine. Or at least I hope Oregon will be fine. I'll adopt the 'Alfred E. Newman' approach: "What, me worry ?". If just for my own peace of mind.
  14. Wow. Now that's something I would never have guessed. I would have probably thought 12-14, tops! Uh... part of that has to be Bo Nix, part has to be Kenny D's offensive scheme but the lion's share has to be the line-play! Wow!!
  15. Can't wait! When does the Predict-O--Score thingy appear? Gotta get my pick in while I'm still around the computer.
  16. Why do I get this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I read about all this? It really makes me sad to think what's happening to the last vestiges of amateur sport in America. Let's just call it what it's becoming: professional athletics on a collegiate level. PCA, Professional Collegiate Athletics. Drop this 'NCAA' nonsense and call it what it is. I'm sorry Charles & mods. I know this isn't positive or happy, happy. I hope I haven't over-stepped the line.
  17. I think Oregon will do all these things, just as long as Lanning continues to win games and compete for Conference Championships. And I'm not too concerned with the Pac-12 diminishing to a lower status because the Conference has opportunities to bring in other good schools. Now, IF Oregon and Washington were both to leave, well that might be a diminishing proposition, but not unless. Imho. Don't forget. The Pac-? is also a BB conference, a Track & Field conference, a Baseball/Softball conference and Soccer and Gymnastics, etc., etc. Our ugly step-brethren to the west of us (Beavers) are an established Baseball power and there is some mighty fine baseball & softball being played here and in California, not to mention Basketball. Utah has a good Basketball program as do Az & ASU, Wash, WSU. If Gonzaga is admitted to the conference - well - that goes without saying how that will elevate Men's BB. No, I think the Pac will survive and good riddance to USC & UCLA if they think they can do better elsewhere ...
  18. Here I have to go with what Joey Harrington says. Not 40 pts. 50 pts. Now I'm not sure if anyone can score 50 against Utah (or OSU) but I think O can score 50 against UW if they can get UW off the field quick enough to give Bo & Co. the ball 8-9 times at least (2+ per qtr.). Right now, Oregon is averaging about 49 pts per game if you throw out the Georgia game. 50's doable for this team if Lanning really wants it. Will depend on what the defense can do to UW's offense.
  19. To your 1st point: you've likely nailed it. Why have a Bo Nix-type QB just to hand the ball off to the RB's or flip a screen to them out of the backfield? And point last: I'm not aware of how all the $$ was spent down there but however it was spent, it isn't working. My guess is because they've invested so heavily in getting him to Miami they won't give up on him too early. Which is fine with me. Let them keep him another season or two - I'm down with that.
  20. Is this the news or your guess at it?
  21. Memo to Dan Lanning: Get recruits enuf to overtake Miami at position #9. Minimum. If I were Phil Knight (or yesterday's Mega-Bucks lottery winner) I'd reward Lanning with a $million-dollar bonus for doing just that!
  22. Boy, there's a name I haven't heard mentioned is a while! A loyal Duck to the end. May he rest in peace and be rewarded with a Baseball Championship at Oregon and perhaps a field named for him.
  23. I'll have the distinct privilege of being able to attend this game tomorrow with friends. It'll be cold. It'll be exciting. It'll be a contest. It'll be everything fans want a football game to be. Here's to hoping it's everything Husky fans hope it won't be: another Bo Nix & Co Wild West.show. Gads, I hope the Ducks clobber this team. T'would be nice to see Penix on his rear-end a few times.
  24. I'm guessing Bill Walton is announcing his retirement? That'd be big enuf news for me.
