  1. I think Dilly would follow DL into the NFL, so we should be looking secure long term commitments for the coaching staff
  2. It shows his talk about accountability was about everyone else and not himself.
  3. I would be looking at Miami's recruits and players right now
  4. If they provide multiple games and $$$ then give them the pac network now and call it a day. Staying with the traditional providers will strangle the money out of the pac. If I want a future for prime time Oregon football in the pac then it’s going to be on a streaming service.
  5. Creating this culture is one of my greatest fears about the lanning culture. He has hired personnel who believe in “radical accountability”.
  6. Prayers for a quick recovery for Mrs FishDuck and that you don’t get it.
  7. It the administration’s obligation to go after the money. Sports is a collegiate business venture and needs to treated as any other business. It would be negligent for the UO to leave (I think) 100s of millions of dollars on the table in order to play in the region they want to.
  8. The best thing that ever happened to college football business was the downfall of the NCAA. Money has always been a part of college sports, the difference now is the players can invest in retirement and transfer away from abusive situations. Media and boosters has always controlled the collegiate football business . They have the money, they pull the strings. Oregon should have known the reality and been out ahead of the collapse of the pac 12. It’s fate was written on the wall and the administration chose to ignore it. The reason why we are stressed out about the shifting nature of the collegiate sport business is because the people in the pac 12 ran their portion of the business poorly. Now, Oregon football business isn’t in control of their own fate and quite possibly lose a lot of money.
  9. Increasing options for prospective employees will only increase competition for them. The old, corrupt system that was the NCAA already created haves and have not. The reason why Alabama and Ohio (the haves) are upset of the deregulation of their labor market is because it promotes competition for that labor and it threatens the elitist schools privileged status.
  10. Ohio state can make 100M (2020 football year) per year n football alone. That revenue depended on having the best labor and coaches in order to win. It seems reasonable for roster salary (13 M)+ coaches salary (19M) for 2022 to be $32 M.
  11. It’s your site… what don’t they understand? Follow the rules.
  12. I think the SEC should leave the CFP. That way we could have the other 4 conferences champions duke it out in a real championship tournament.
  13. I am always sympathetic to a man who is worth $35 million dollars when they complain about other employers outbidding them for employees.
  14. I don’t see any change. In the last 20 years, when was the last time a national champion wasn’t full of elite recruits?
  15. I’m not strongly apposed to the idea because, if the hypothesis is correct, transfer portal windows would bring stability to athletics. We should heavily consider the contra argument of transfer portals before implementing the policy. players transfer out of programs for a reason. Often we don’t know why. What reason should we limit an athletes opportunities to pursue their given trade?
  16. Athletes are employees, no matter what name you call them. Should Starbucks CEO lobby our congressman to codify low wages and strip baristas of NIL chances? How far do you want the CEO’s of any industry to dictate, by law, our opportunity to generate revenue for ourselves?
  17. The head coach position has grown into a CEO position and the governing bodies need to recognize that. The CEO shouldn’t be flying all over the country recruiting and analyzing talent anymore. If that means the coaching staff has to grow in order to recruit properly then that needs to happen. College sports is a billion dollar business, it needs to act like it.
