  1. If a company doesn’t pay their employees and robs them of profiting off their name and likeness, does the company deserve to live?
  2. He is worried about being out bid and recruiting coaches will matter less than coaches that can coach. He should be worried. The whole point of compensation is so new employers can lure employees away from their current employer. Artificially deflating employees wage through the corrupt use of a cartel is illegal. The only reason the NCAA was allowed to do it before was relabeling employees, “student athletes”
  3. Oregon should really leverage their sports marketing business program to maximize both their employees exposure as well as the school’s. This benefit employees across the entire sports program women’s and men’s programs alike.
  4. there always was have and have nots, it has always been pay for play for everyone in football except players, and restricting the movement of labor is unethical. The term “student athletes” was specifically created to get around all labor laws. Each and everyone of these employees can get their neck broke in the normal routine of their job and you don’t want them to be paid, own their own likeness, and not be able to move to another job if a employer mistreats them? this is relevant klemm is coming and if he is as awful as the lawsuit makes him out to be, I want out players to be able to escape an abusive situation.
  5. I don’t see a problem with it. An employee should be able to quit and restart another job at any time. But it should be acknowledged that the players are employees.
  6. Nice to see the the laborers and risk takers starting to get paid instead of just expert salesmen.
  7. That’s a lot for a recruiter, any acumen on player development and a defense coordinator?
  8. Rigged casino doesn’t want to change rules.
  9. Perfect fit for each other! Could you imagine the game plan conversation BMc: I have drawn up some passing routes for our next game MC: We don’t do that here BMc: Don’t do what? MC: Pass! Now hit the recruiting trail!
  10. After the divorce from the other divisions, that would be their problem. Every division champion would be in our playoff and the SEC can do whatever they want.
  11. The argument could be made that at this time in history only Georgia and Alabama belong. An easy way to fix the problem is to have the SEC have their own “national championship” and the rest of the conferences consolidate to 8 conferences. We take our money they take theirs.
  12. The issue is that there is a pattern of hiring coaches that come from toxic cultures and specifically the hiring of two that have allegations of abuse and mistreatment of players. This is the type of thing that former players should have written a letter to the AD about and what Jonny C should have reported on.
  13. I see a pattern of hiring coaches that come from cultures that abuse players. there is no honeymoon time period for that style of culture. Questions should be asked it’s entirely appropriate and if any answers are “radical accountability” we all should worry. Hopefully I am over reacting but by using past information I’m not.
  14. Most our coaches either have a Graham or Mora connection. This is not a good sign.
  15. I would rather see him try his hand at a graduate assistant for coaching than the NFL. He would be a great leader for future football players.
  16. I feel very little sympathy for the multimillionaires that can’t even hold up their end of the bargain. That being said we shouldn’t be crass jerks about it. I would shoot for honest with decorum. Besides I know the least about football on this forum. So when everything goes well I listen. When obvious issues are occurring and most people are still in “wait and see mode”, I speak up. For example, MC’s offense or Danimals’ potentially problematic. So we should be able to be critical of our coaches and players. However, if we allow a “gloves off” approach, it is likely the forum will devolve into twitterverse. And who really wants that? Furthermore, we should never attack a player. We can be critical of their performance but never attack them. They are at the mercy of the fans, coaches, and administration. All they are trying to do make a better life for themselves and their family. So we should really cut them a break. Lastly, we should be honest with decorum in this forum for us. In a world where we see rudeness, personal attacks, and dishonesty on a daily basis, shouldn’t we have a sanctuary where we lead the in the discussion of football? If we want gloves off… just go to Twitter, Facebook, or a remarks section on a sports web page. They have that market space covered.
  17. I am starting to worry that Lanning is hiring multiple coaches that are salesmen with baggage. A good culture and player development will be essential for sustained success.
  18. Maybe the other conferences need to forge a path without both the SEC and ESPN
  19. What’s the difference between an 4 SEC team playoff and a 12 teams SEC team playoff? about 8 teams. you can’t have millions of dollars at stake with a subjective beauty pageant picking the contestants and have a satisfied consumer base. Someone will alway be left out unjustly and the image of the playoffs will just deteriorate over time. The only way for the playoff to work is through an objective way to get in.
  20. Lanning is absolute upgrade from MC in X&O’s and we may be able to keep the recruiting just as high. That being said Lanning hired multiple assistant coaches that contributed to Jim Mora’s toxic culture and one of them was named codefendant in a $15 million abuse case. I see this playing out one of two ways: 1. Lanning keeps a short leash on “problem coaches” and we go to the playoff within 3 years and possibly the national championship. 2. Lanning either hired the coaches because of their “problematic past” or fails to “leash the problematic coaches” and the UO is in a $15 million lawsuit of their own and the program is a 4 win team the year after Lanning is fired
  21. If Lanning had Klemm in his little black book, fully knowing his background, that bothers me more than a panic hire. That the hire was part of Lannings vision all along. That is a red flag.
