  1. The guy looks like the real deal. Nice to see he is hoping to have an official visit for the Utah game. Autzen is sure to be rocking for that one too. Let's hope that Dan and the gang can make it feel like "home".
  2. Exactly what I was going to write. Well done. Go Beavs!!
  3. If you're a betting person, take the over!
  4. How do you score 2 points in overtime???
  5. Oregon --the winner 45-27 --the score 3 --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates 5 --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team 299 --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. ...and Bo doesn't play the 4th quarter.
  6. This is one of the best threads ever in OBDF. Many thanks to the NJDuck for posting these two great articles. And thanks to everyone who left their very good comments! Let's have a great rest of the season... and post season!
  7. Exactly what I was thinking! Miami's offense?? or Oregon's??
  8. It wasn't just taking a knee. Did you notice that NW, on the last real play of the game, slid instead of trying to make it into the endzone? Would he have done that in the first half?? When I saw that, I immediately thought that DL told everyone to hold on to the ball but not to score... probably during one of the last time outs that UCLA took. NW broke away and slid before he got too close to the endzone. Yes, there were a couple of UCLA defenders in front of him, but is going into a slide the normal thing that a running back does as he approaches the endzone?
  9. I was thinking the same thing... especially after the first "go for it" on 4th deep in Oregon territory.
  10. So, the clearest way to the CFP is winning convincingly the rest of the regular season and doing the same to an 11-1 USC in the PAC-12 Championship Game. That means that if we want to go to the playoffs we need to want USC to win out (rooting for USC in every game???? especially UCLA.) Beating UCLA again after UCLA beats USC won't cut it. If Oregon and USC win out they will possibly be 6 and 7 at the Championship game. A convincing win might well put Oregon into the top 4.
  11. "Unstopable Oregon!" -- Fox announcer as the TD unfolds.
  12. Definitely filling his resumé for the NFL. He has been unreal the whole game.
  13. I think that Lupoi isn't the only DC in the room. DL chose him for a reason (or 2 or 3). One of them has to be DL's confidence that he can work with Lupoi as they formulated their defensive philosophy and their specific defensive strategies. I think DL isn't messing with the offense too much, but I am sure his fingerprints are all over the defense. My point is that CK isn't just going against Lupoi. CK and his OC are going up against Dan Lanning and his DC. I hope that is encouraging.
  14. And we haven't mentioned the Autzen experience. Thibodeaux was blown away as a recruit. If I remember correctly he came for a UW game and Autzen was rocking. He said that he had never had an experience like that before. You think it made a difference?
  15. I have my doubts. I think we will be more aggressive as the year goes on. More disruption.
  16. Since Georgia, where DL admitted that they tried to install too much of the defense to fast, the coaches have pulled back and almost started over, installing (and using) a little more of the defense each week. The last couple of weeks - and especially last game - we saw more blitzes coming from different directions. For UCLA, the defensive staff is has 2 weeks instead of just one to install and practice MORE of the defensive strategy they would like to use. I believe that this is what we will see... more of the same plus a more. Last week we saw Gonzales one on one with Arizona's best receiver, even though that put him covering the slot, a position that he was not used to. I expect to see the same this week with Bobo. If this is true, it means that for two weeks Gonzales is studying Bobo and becoming an expert on him. That is good. I very much like the Duck's chances in this one... especially if Autzen is LOUD.
  17. I don't think I am surprised about anything. Like others have pointed out, things are different than what we expected at the beginning of the season, but that just may be because of the fact that we are not watching every practice. In the Georgia game people were surprised and disappointed that Irving and NW were playing in front of Cardwell and Dollars... but the last 5 games have shown that the coaches made the right decisions based on what they saw in practice. Irving and NW deserve to be 1 and 2. After week 2 (I think) we had a thread on here in which most were agreeing that RB by committee would not work (as opposed to having a 1 and 2 RB). After 6 games, it looks like we are working fine - and everyone does have fresh legs the whole game. (What were those coaches thinking???) The defense (as well as everyone else) is improving every week. Our schedule worked out well this year to have to be somewhat lighter in the beginning so that everyone could improve enough to meet the challenge ahead. The massive loss at Georgia, is still reaping benefits as there is no way guys can think they are the best in college football YET. That loss makes guys realize that they still need to learn and improve. Coaches too. DL admitted that he tried to install too much defense in the beginning, and that is part of why the defense could not stop Georgia's offense. So now, as they guys can absorb it, we are seeing a little more variation in the defense every week. I'm looking forward to seeing what these coaches are going to come up with, having 2 weeks to prepare for UCLA. I think Oregon is going to turn some heads.
  18. The defense is making strides every week. Did you see the increase in blitzing last week? and from different directions? Sewell should have had an interception on the first play of the game after he went from middle linebacker all the way around the left side of the line to put pressure on the QB. We got a ton of hurries on deLaura last week, which is why he missed on so many passes. He completed only 57% of his passes and passed for less than 250 yards after passing for almost 500 the week before.
  19. He looked very disappointed in himself to me. It was a great catch... but maybe he was thinking if he had run a little faster earlier in the route, it would have been a touchdown, caught in stride.
