  1. I got to say, he looks pretty lock-down. When I read the title, I immediately assumed it was Gonzalez.
  2. Exactly!! If they are so ugly, why do the recruits choose to be seen in them??? This is an interesting thread in that it shows passionate disagreement... One of the things that Charles says is OK and acceptable, as long as we are nice to each other. You will notice in my quote I skipped over the first part that says, "I'm not fond of the uni, but". That's because I didn't want to say "Exactly!!" to that part... because I happen to like the eggshells.
  3. It seems that this is what Dan Lanning did. DL said he didn't want to just go anywhere. When our AD said his phone was ringing with people wanting the job, I have no doubts that DL called. Look how far he drove to get his first GA job. DL would have been dumb to leave his very nice job in Georgia to rebuild a dumpster fire just because it is a HC job. If KD is as smart as DL he won't just leave for anywhere.
  4. After the first game against Georgia, I said, here and privately, that I would not be surprised if Oregon went undefeated the rest of the season. So far, so good. I was pleased with where the team was after week 1 and I am still pleased. I would not be surprised if we are 11-1 going into the championship game. I also wouldn't be surprised if we were 10-2. I would be very surprised if we weren't seeing this kind of improvement every week.
  5. On this one, your hubby and my wife's hubby are two peas in a pod.
  6. Also, he is a Mississippi kid. Maybe he grew up a fan of Ole Miss. Why would he want to miss out on a front row seat and a look behind the scenes??? This trip doesn't bother me at all. If somewhere else happens to be a better fit for him, better that he discover that now than during the second week of classes. The room might look full now, but if the coaches think they need a 4 star commit, I think they can convince the commit of that too.
  7. "Pride comes before a fall." That is the main reason why there are "trap games"... a team has a gigantic win, they feel on top of the world, the next opponent up isn't near as good as the one we just beat, another big game is just down the road... and so a lesser opponent is overlooked, under-respected, and under prepared for. The real rat poison is pride. The antidote is humility. The noise from the media is the petri dish for pride. So, yes, you should be concerned about all the noise. The coaches, the team, and the fans all need to keep their own pride in check. The bigger the pride, the harder the fall. Good coaches preach against pride to the team all the time. That is why the "faceless opponent", "playing against ourselves", "playing to our standard" themes come up all the time. It's why DL tells his team "there are no stars once you get on campus." Nobody is so good that they cannot lose to an unrated or under-rated opponent. We are all impressed when some who are so good at what they do and yet demonstrate what appears to be true humility. Marcus Mariota and Justin Herbert quickly come to mind but there are many others, including young people on our teams today. We all need to strive to be that guy.
  8. Excellent point! A converted 4th down is like a turnover. Everyone expected the defense to get off the field with a punt, but instead, they stay on the field and the offense starts again with a new set of downs.
  9. TOTALLY agree here, Charles. How on earth can you install "exotic" anything and give adequate reps to expect anyone to be full go in such a short amount of time. I think it is wisdom on the coaches' part to not expect guys to implement a whole lot of new stuff right out of the box.
  10. I remember Mariota was "frustrated" that it took him a couple weeks to get the offense down.
  11. The best way to get more day games is to play the best football in the west. ESPN, FOX, etc. want the most eyeballs watching them that they can get. Hence better times for higher ranked teams. I have no clue why nobody wanted USC - OSU this week. OSU should be rated, as should WSU.
  12. I was always rooting for him to be the guy at Oregon. He would do great in this offence. The room is a little full, especially with who is coming in.
  13. ...or in 7 seconds when you receive the kick off. The look on the faces of the Kansas State fans was priceless. ...and DAT is how we do it.
  14. I saw him throw several blocks. One good thing I notice is that he is being smart about the blocks he throws. He usually just throws a shoulder into a guy to slow him down just a bit. He knows that he doesn't have to throw his whole body into someone else to completely stop them in their tracks. This is coaching. I don't know when Bo was taught this, but it is a very smart move. The guy would get banged up bad if he was always throwing his body into people.
  15. One impression I had is that Bo still can be coached. One thing that has been repeated here and throughout the media (and during every game) is that Bo is still inconsistent after 4 years in the game. What I am referring to is Bo's use of the out of bounds pass. Without doubt KD and DL have been drilling that into his head since the Georgia game. From what we saw yesterday, maybe it is starting to sink in... a little. He didn't seem to force any (many?) dumb throws through non-existent windows. Instead, he threw the ball away to live another down. It worked.
  16. You can tell that these running backs have been told to look for a hole... not just run into a wall.
  17. Charles, after the first game, asked Is Oregon that bad, or is Georgia that good. I think we have the answer. Georgia is lights out.
  18. South Alabama is beating UCLA Cal leading ND 17-14.... now tied
