  1. Wait a minute! I predicted 34-24. Why are they going for 2???????
  2. Oregon wins 34-24 2 turnovers 5 sacks 322 passing yards
  3. Down through history there have been "civil wars" all over the world. A civil war is when two factions in the same country are fighting militarily for control of the country. I moved to Oregon as an adult (I immigrated legally, as I married a native born Oregonian). I always thought that the civil war game was so named because it was Oregonians fighting Oregonians on the gridiron for football supremacy of Oregon. The United States civil war - The War Between the States" - never entered my mind. Nor did slavery, nor race relations in any way. I just always thought Oregonians fighting Oregonians.
  4. But, but... but... It's a great reminder of EXACTLY what poor sportsmanship looks like. The only thing worse would be if he was using a different finger.
  5. I'm totally with you here Charles. I was thinking the same just reading the different thread titles. Glad you had the guts to say it, because I wasn't going to. About the onside kick... Right off the bat with my surprise I thought it wasn't the best idea so soon after the UCLA game. I was glad that it was at least not the same exact kick (different direction, etc.). But then another thought came as the announcers were discussing it. - Washington was moving the ball so well that whether or not they started on the 50 yard line or back at the 25, it didn't seem to make much difference... BUT... - Time was running out! If UW would have started on the 25 and we "bent-ed but not not broke-ed" we would have given up the 3 points with no time to score ourselves! - With the lost onside kick we effectively skipped the bending part so that we could get right into the not breaking part - with less field to defend... therefore coming up with a possession with more time on the clock. Time enough to score. Did it all work out? No. BUT, my point is that even if we lost the onside kick (the probable outcome), it may have still been the wisest decision. And if we recover the onside kick... GRAVY! We get a possession with enough time to score without giving up the 3 points first! Almost a win-win... but not, because we failed to score. But did we really give up that much to UW by giving them the ball a little past midfield instead of back on the 25????
  6. Yup. Looking good! I liked last week's unis except for the helmet. I thought the jersey and pants looked fine together. they didn't stand out as something that clashed. The helmet didn't seem to add anything to the look.
  7. Scoring efficiency. One of the things said about the UCLA game was that with Lanning forcing UCLA to eat up a bunch of clock on their possessions, especially in the 2nd half when they were trailing. This meant that UCLA was never going to get enough possessions to come back and win. In the second half of that game, the Ducks were taking minutes off the clock on their drives... and they were forcing UCLA to take minutes off the clock on their drives. (You know that CK would love to score in less than 2 minutes.) If you look at time of possession in our games, in most of them Oregon has more time of possession. That means that Oregon's offense IS on the field more than their defense is. Oregon's average time of possession this year is 31:33 while their opponents are averaging 28:26.
  8. Hopefully, Georgia is back at #1 in all the polls, especially the one that counts.
  9. I don't know that the wind might affect whether or not they put in someone else. Very difficult situation for young guy. You want to set them up for success.
  10. ***sigh*** Don't you miss the prevent offense??? NOT!!!!!
  11. Loved that play. You think JC is glad he came to Oregon???? Oh Yeah.
  12. Oregon --the winner 55/20 --the score 3 --the amount of turnovers Oregon creates 4 --the number of sacks Oregon records on the opposing team 425 --the number of passing yards by the Ducks. At least one back up QB plays significant meaningful reps.
  13. I think everyone involved in the LA schools going to the B1G may have buyers remorse in a few years. Especially if no one joins them, the travel is a killer (and all the other good reasons that Bill Walton pointed out - especially for the student athletes). If the LA schools want to come back to the PAC sometime in the future, there needs to be a PAC to come back to. The PAC will be fine without them in the mean time. Finally, with as much hatred that has been directed at the LA schools for being "back stabbing traitors", I don't want OBD to be in that position. We call them bad names for what they have done... and then we join them??? Not me!!!
  14. I loved this play! Interesting that you will notice that the linebacker, #33, who is covering NW on the play, was expecting the wheel route, as he was heading that way. Then, NW puts his foot in the ground and cuts to the middle, #33 is left out in the cold, all alone while Noah makes the catch. He was expecting the wheel route because Oregon had just run the wheel route to NW for a big gain. Also, NW would have never made the endzone if DT #2 wasn't maintaining his block until Noah flies in. After the TD, DT#2 is totally pumped and celebrating.
