  1. Ugh. Here comes the SEC narrative. Who wants to bet that both Oklahoma and Alabama are in front of the Ducks on Tuesday? And if Texas beats Georgia? Get ready for the “6 teams deserve to get in” nonsense from the media talking heads.
  2. I thought they would try and run more and would not sling the ball around like they did. Moore and the skill players played fantastic. Two more to go.
  3. Putting a LB in coverage on Sadiq is a losing proposition.
  4. They will come around. A lineup of Shelstad, Simpkins, Lindsay, Evans, and Bittle looks very promising. Shelstad won’t be rusty forever and they will start to gel. Lin can’t shoot this bad forever. With him, Stewart, and Pryor contributing it will be fine. Maybe Phillips works his way in there, but after that I think the bench will shorten in a few weeks. Defensively they have the potential to be very good.
  5. This is unreal. Is Lin going to start making some shots at some point?
  6. And somehow Iowa will be ranked below every 3-loss SEC team come Tuesday. 😂
  7. The crazy thing is that we should have guys that can shoot from deep. Shelstad, Lin, and Simpkins all shot better than 35% from three last year. Lin and Shelstad were both above 40% on catch and shoot threes. Phillips was a fantastic shooter in high school. He was north of 37% from three and won a state player award his sophomore season. He made 124 threes his freshman annd sophomore seasons. Also, while playing in a 4 game tournament for his U17 team he scored almost 30 PPG and shot 62% from three. Dude can clearly shoot. Lindsey has the best percentage of all of them, shooting 42% from three his last year in JC. We have shooters. I am not sure what the problem is.
  8. What a great day to be a Duck!!! Washington eliminated from playoffs!!
  9. Is Iowa’s QB better than Moore?? It sure looks that way right now.
  10. Boettcher having himself a game right now.
  11. Talk about a shooting slump. Lin is now 1 for his last 18 shots. Yikes!!!
  12. They are on fire now! FG% up to 31% 😂 Ducks lead 40-38. 11:49 left
  13. Oregon down 5 at half. Shot 26% from the floor in the first half. They were in the bonus at 10 minutes left in the half but failed to take advantage. Lists of threes and contested jumpers.
  14. Shelstad started. Night and day with ball movement right now. Ducks up early 20-15.
  15. Oregon should win this game by double digits. This should be much easier than Hawaii, in theory.
  16. Excellent news!! Any updates on Phillips?
  17. Another note. Simpkins didn’t miss a shot inside the 3 point line. His midrange game is already 10x better than what we got from Bamba last season. A starting 5 of Shelstad Simpkins Stewart or Pryor Evans Bittle Looks pretty good, especially on defense. This team could be elite on that end of the floor. Just need some time to gel and a couple others to step up for rotation minutes. They absolutely have to stay healthy this year with a dropoff on the bench.
  18. In my opinion, Oregon is still a team with a young QB, a completely revamped OL and interior DL, and a lack of depth and elite talent at the inside LB spot. I am pulling hard for Oregon to win out and make the playoffs. Even if they do, I feel like it is a long shot that they are going to get past the second round this year. I am very excited for what the future brings. The talent coming in should help bridge those gaps in the coming years. I fully expect Oregon to win it all in the next 5 years or so.
  19. I am not in panic mode right now. Shelstad is going to come back and the bench will shorten over time. Simpkins ability to drive, create shots, and his mid range game look very solid. I think he will ultimately be an upgrade from Bamba. That will also create more opportunities for Shelstad when he comes back. Love what I am seeing from Stewart. Once he gets comfortable, he might be great. I could see him being better than Angel by March. Evans should make another jump and Bittle is an all conference type player. Lin is a disaster right now, but he will figure it out enough to get some solid role minutes. Seems like there is a fairly decent drop off after the top 6 or 7 guys.
  20. I thought the committee did a decent job and got most of it right, other than ND. A couple of observations: 1) I am okay with Oregon at 9, but did putting Oregon at 9 essentially send the message that if they lose again they are out, barring total chaos? 2) How in the world is Notre Dame ahead of Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisville? 3) Why is Joey Galloway so dug in on ATM being No.1 based on “statistics”?? What statistics is he looking at? Indiana, tOSU, Oregon, Texas Tech are all in the Top 15 in both total offense and total defense. ATM is not in the Top 15 for either. Weird flex from Galloway.
  21. This will be a challenging first game. Hawaii has the most experienced roster in the entire NCAA and an average age of 23 years old. Hawaii’s starting center is Issac Johnson (ex-Duck). Hawaii’s 6’7” PG is out this game, so that should help the Ducks a little. I expect this will be closer than the spread, but Ducks should be able to win. 🤞
  22. Great article and I agree. I have no interest in watching Maryland vs Rutgers or Illinois vs Iowa. However, I would have absolutely sat down and watched two Pac-12 teams play each other, especially on Saturday night. I really miss those Pac-12 after dark games. 7:30pm start after dinner and two teams that could impact the conference standings kicking it off and playing late into the night. Crack a beer and relax until bedtime. Stanford at San Jose State at 7:30pm. No offense to SJSU, but gross. I’m not watching that.
  23. I find it interesting that the national media is finally starting to pick up on it. However, most outlets are framing this as an issue over the past two years, when this has been an ongoing issue with him since 2007. Mario has been a head coach for 14 seasons. He has lost to an unranked team in every single one of those 14 seasons as a head coach. In 10 of those years, he has lost to more than 1 unranked team. He still has the rest of this year to make that 11. Probably the most surprising thing is that he has not been able to really grow and change over time. He’s an elite recruiter and assembles some of the best rosters in college football. However, some things just don’t change: His teams are always undisciplined and have a ton of penalties. He believes that he can just out “physicality” everyone all the time. They are little to no adjustments based on opponent. He doesn’t take advantage of mismatches on offense. His clock management has to be some of the worst in the entire FBS. Situational awareness costs him at least 1 game a year. For comparison, Dan Lanning in four seasons as a head coach has never lost to an unranked team and has only lost one game to a team not ranked in the Top 10. I appreciate what Cristobal did to help elevate the program, but Lanning is a MASSIVE upgrade.
