  1. Well, I did say "apparently" because the source was Dennis Dodd!
  2. Deion Sanders apparently said he would like to go to the BIG-12 and make Texas its main recruiting ground. This would be as opposed to staying in the PAC and trying to build upon recruiting in Socal, etc. Nothing stopping him from recruiting in Texas now, but it might be easier to get recruits to commit if the kids can play more games in the Texas area. As of now, Colorado will be playing no games in Texas and no games in Socal (like the rest of us after USC/UCLA leave).
  3. No new news in that article. The way I see it is that it is probably best for everyone in the Pac to stay for another TV deal until Oregon and Washington leave, but that if the TV deal isn't very good, teams bordering BIG-12 territory might as well leave now. I would not begrudge CU & UA if they got it over with and left. I guess The Pac would have to invite SDSU ASAP if that happened.
  4. 2023 Division I Baseball Official Bracket | NCAA.com WWW.NCAA.COM The official 2023 College Baseball Bracket for Division I. Includes a printable bracket and links to buy NCAA championship tickets.
  5. That makes sense, and that's kind of sad. Ducks Wire is great- I check everything that is posted from there, as well as going there on my own. Like I said, Trojans Wire always has a vibe of an overprotective sports parent. And I should know that vibe, I purposefully took out a player on a breakaway (before the midline) in a state championship hockey game when I was 17, and the player's dad literally tried to climb into the penalty box to fight me. That's why they have a staff member in penalty boxes, in case anyone wondered.
  6. Is Trojans Wire a legitimate website? It doesn't even appear to allow comments from its base. Seems like a pet project for one or more hotheads. The writer makes proclamations instead of summarizing or speculating. I'm not sure why someone that actually graduated from the University of Southern California would bother reading that type of material.
  7. He's really skinny, and I imagine he would redshirt. Is Oregon good enough to be choosy when it comes to top-150 players, and a 7'1 center? I'm not so sure.
  8. On my Xfinity channel guide the schedule has never strayed from showing a 7pm slot for the Pac-12 Championship game. This is good, because I do not have ESPNU. Anytime the Ducks play on that channel, which happens a bit in basketball, I'm out of luck!
  9. "The Fairness Accountability and Integrity in Representation of College Sports Act (FAIR College Sports Act) would preempt all existing and future state NIL laws, a limitation currently being sought for Congress to address by the NCAA." Ha. So the bill is dead on arrival. Got it.
  10. Throughout this fiasco, writers have often used the language "pennies on the dollar" when referring to what they think ESPN/FOX want to pay for the PAC.
  11. Hmm. I guess I was looking at different sites. That said, I see he's projected to go in the late first round or the early second round after this year, so I suppose you are right. I still think losing Dante Moore was a big deal, though.
  12. If the Ducks are paying (not likely to have been drafted in the top-4 rounds in 2022) Bo Nix $1.5M for a one year "veteran's contract", that means the Ducks have that number in their range going forward for a good QB. So...what is Dante Moore getting at UCLA? What did we offer Moore for his first season, or his projected payouts for subsequent seasons? I ask, because if we're giving Bo Nix $1.5M for one season, we should have just offered a lot more for a "#1 overall draft pick" in Dante Moore. It's rare a "#1 overall draft pick" would want to come to Eugene. Just saying. I still like Bo Nix, though. I would have made it publicly known that if we got Moore, that it would be "an open battle for the starting spot come Fall." Maybe we could have got Moore in that case.
  13. This is such a disaster for the Ducks.
  14. The article only talked about ACC teams going to the B1G, FYI. So, not a good article to read as an Oregone to the B1G fan.
  15. Oh no! Hope you and your husband recover soon, Pennsylvania Duck. You are missed.
  16. I find it very hard to criticize the B1G or the SEC for not scheduling P-5 games. Winning the National Championship is my goal every year, and scheduling tough OOC opponent gets in the way of that too often. The PAC-12/10 is too weak, so I guess we can't go that route, but I certinly do not blame teams in legitimate conferences for handling their risks.
  17. I personally do not get any of the money that Oregon would receive from the B1G. As such, I don't really care what kind of low-ball offer the Ducks get. We are an extremely wealthy school with Phil's money. We can accept $30M from the B1G for all I care until the next contract in 2029/30. Just get us out of the Pac now.
  18. I, for one, welcome one of the Van Buren Boys. Give him #8, a proper number for QB at Oregon.
  19. As someone who grew up in Washington, D.C., I always keep an eye on players from the DC Metro area. There aren't really many powerhouse teams anywhere nearby. Nashville is really far away, like 10 hours. Columbus is about 5 or 6 hours or so away I'd guess. The University of Maryland generally has good programs, but Oregon is a much bigger brand. But the DC Metro produces more basketball players, so I guess it should be more of a focus for our scouts for that sport. Georgetown has fallen off the map, and Maryland is sometimes hit or miss. UVA is once again a powerhouse in basketball after disappearing after Y2K, but their football program isn't even competing with teams like the Ducks. UNC, maybe. Anyway, my point is that Oregon needs to open up a satellite recruiting office in D.C., the land of the lobbyists! Stake claim where there is taxation without representation!
  20. No surprise. Bad day for the Athletic Department ticket sales reps, an OK day for the Ducks. Oregon doesn't need the drama if Bronnie doesn't start.
  21. That sucks that happened to you. I hope you email them what you wrote here, and see if they can do you a special favor. That said, it wasn't just Altman complaining. It's embarrassing as a fan to see empty seats at MKA. I don't really have to play devil's advocate here, I think making the stadium appear fuller is a pretty good idea. My guess is that doing so is taken from a page in Arena Management 101. It's possible that the UO made a mistake by ever even offering those seats to season ticket holders until Eugene started selling out the arena on a year-by-year basis. They failed Area Management 101: Chapter 1, in that regard. Handcuffing a company or an organization to early mistakes is not fair. There are other things that the UO needs to do to get more fans. Making promotional deals for single game tickets (buy 1 get 1 half off) would be a start. I never get promo emails from the Basketball team from UO, but I get a ton from the Football program, which is interesting since the basketball team needs more fans! Marketing shouldn't just advertise promos via email, but through the RegisterGuard.com (and the paper), the Eugene Weekly, and TV spots on KEZI. Another thing the UO needs to do to make the game look better on TV (which is exceptionally important) is to finally change the court to something, anything, less distracting. Anyway, the Ducks have three 5-star recruits coming next year (two consensus). They also might get Lebron James' son, Bronnie. If that happens the stadium might be sold out.
  22. Fun second half! I must say, though, if the coaches call Ty Thomson's first snap from the line to be a backwards pass one more time, I might lose my mind. Last season that was his first play call when he went in on three occasions, one for a big loss, one hit a player in the helmet, and one was a fumble. Simple request.
  23. Well, I am banking on him going from Moga to no NoGo if and when Oregon signs a 5-star prospect. Moga can go elsewhere. TT was a fluke bust. We can not have an attitude of "stars do not matter" anymore.
  24. Hmm. I thought one of the main objectives this weekend was to get Van Buren to favor us. Hopefully Van Buren is nonplussed by this announcement. Hopefully other 5-star QB's will also not bat an eye by Moga's commitment if Van Buren goes elsewhere. It's early, players can change their minds.
  25. Very disappointing. Gonzalez was the third DB drafted. I'm a Washington (D.C.) fan, and I was shocked they had a chance to pick him at 16. Then they went and picked a different DB! What??? Gonzalez had a one percent chance of dropping to #17 by experts. By almost no measure was going 17 a good night. I suppose going to a team that has had great DB's (from Oregon) is a plus.
