I agree with you both. Ty looked much better from the spring game and has said he's learned a ton with his reads. But it's apparent he isn't good as Bo hearing what Lanning said. Bo has 3 years playing and watching college game films. I imagine Ty has his good moments in practice/scrimmage but also the moments where Dilly is asking him why you let that play run into the strength of the defensive set?

What's the Over/Under Scott Frost Keeps His Job?
DazeNconfused replied to 1Funduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
They won't promote the DC that came with him from UCF and let Northwestern and GA. So put up almost 80 points on them. They will give OC Mark Whipple who just came over from Pitt this season the interim HC job for the rest of the season. -
It's not that Bo is more talented than Ty, it's the pre-snap defense reads that Bo is better at. Bo will read the defense and get the Ducks into the right play more than Ty. Read the Lanning quote, it shows Ty is still learning and doesn't run the offense as well as Bo. "Ty did a great job. And it was fun seeing Ty and Bo and Jay all those guys really operate," said Lanning on his quarterback's performances. "There were a couple times they made some checks based on looks that we've given them during the week. And to be honest, we probably give them maybe once or twice and they were able to get us in good plays based on the looks that we got. And Ty did a really good job of getting us into a run check on one of the looks that we saw. So that was encouraging. Went out there and operated. You know we're talking about where the ball should go on certain place and based on the coverage and he was able to read the coverage and take the ball where it needed to go it didn't have to force anything but executed a really high level. I don't think anybody's is excited about Ty's performance is his teammates. You know Ty comes here and works every single day. Rolls his sleeves up, and he did a good job that day."

I wasn't impressed much at all with either team... The Baylor QB was bad 18-28 for 137 yards and 1 TD. Baylor only went for 2.9 yards per carry and the Ducks went for 4.5 vrs Georgia. Baylor only had 289 total yards. The BYU defense isn't Georgia, we will put up over 400 yards on BYU - we put up 313 yards on UGA with two drives ending early from picks. BYU only ran for 83 yards on 2.5 yards per carry. The BYU QB 23-39 for 261 yards that not high completion percentage or yards per pass. The BYU FG kicker was 2-4 and missed to chances to win the game with walk off kicks. From what I've seen; warts and all Bo Nix will be the better QB. The Ducks have better skill talent and OL. The Ducks defense showed they worked on fixing weakness in tackling and reads. I got the Ducks winning this game.

Samford ran for 1.1 yards per carry and the Ducks went for 4.5 vrs the Dawgs. Samford had 130 some yards and the Ducks 313 even with the two drive that ended in picks. We can forget comparing the Ducks to Sanford. I'd also forget about the UGA as a benchmark for the Ducks as they played about as bad as they can play on defense.

Miami Fans Meltdown Mid-Game Week Two
DazeNconfused replied to DazeNconfused's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Maybe not.. Herbs is proof that Mario holds his QBs back and AB looked way better this preseason than he did a Duck. Based on TVD's numbers last year under OC Rhett Lashlee teams might see TVD as a steal if they can get him. He was projected as a top 20 pick by some. -

Charles has said Mario has 80 million reasons not to change his style. You'd think Cane fans would have saw this coming. These two posts tell it all. "Mario wants to grind out games. It’s clear effecting the passing game." "Should’ve stayed at Oregon then." - that's from one of the site admins in week two! hahahahhahahahahaha -

Alan you're on fire! Awesome writing, intellect and humor... its humbling the talent you show -
Texas has Top 10 roster talent, they should be a ranked team. Sark is in year two- the staff is now developing and getting the team to play up to its talent. Lanning and staff need to get the Ducks developed and playing up to its talent level. The fact Mario and staff lost took the bad losses to Utah and Chokelahoma show they weren't doing a solid coaching job, Lanning and staff certainly didn't have the Ducks playing up to their talent level last week. We are going to see soon if the staff can fix that in year one.

Miami Fans Meltdown Mid-Game Week Two

The point is it's game two with TVD the rookie of the year and fans are freaking out about the slow pace, run up the middle and punt offense. Maimi finally had an explosive offense the last half of the year and Mario took it from them and gave them Mario ball. They go on the road to Texas A&M next week and will get drilled. -

Some more.... "How did Gattis win the Broyles award?" "We are so slow we have to call timeouts, it takes us 30 sec minimum to snap the ball" "28 point favorites can't even score a td" "We gonna lose to FSU" "WTH are moving with no urgency? This looks no different than a Manny Daiz led team" "I really laugh at the people that say pack the stadium. who the **** wants to spend their hard earned money to watch this trash?" "Mediocrity. We're watching mediocrity." "Gattis is not saving **** for A&M. This is his offense." -
It's 10-7 Miami over So. Miss at the half and Mario ball is not going over well -- Run, run, pass in front of the chains and punt. Fans are posting on cainsinsght aren't happy with the play calling, or the QB play of TVD the ACC offensive rookie of the year. It didn't take long for Mario to regress TVD it appears "Throw the ball Gattis." "Where has you gone Rhett Lashlee" - last years OC "Making some plans. I will not be watching the 2nd half. Y’all enjoy. Go canes" "Pull tvd" "Even Van Dyke’s balls look like ****" "Awful throw TVD. TD if it’s up the sideline." "Southern Miss had zero fear of this offense. They're coming for us. Blood in the water" "Took us until 20 seconds before halftime to score a TD against Southern Miss. wth" "Everybody needs to wake, up coaches included" "It's not good, but TVD playing like me out there and the Oline absolutely getting their a$$ kicked"

Oregon Ducks Football: Don’t Count Bo Nix Out Yet
DazeNconfused replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I respectfully agree some and disagree. What you say could happen, the young QBs could be worse than Bo for the rest of the year. But do we really expect that out a five-star Ty? It's a complex equation. Bo Nix vrs UGA completed 56% of his passes for 4.7 yards per attempt. His passer rating was 85.2 - terrible. Nix needs to be completing close to 65% for over 8 yards per attempt and sporting a 155-pass rating in the next two games - and that's not even as good as Shough was in 2020. If Nix can't meet that bar, and he never has... it's hard to expect his play is going to lead you to a Pac-12 title. Then you really need to consider going to one of the young guys - you'd expect they could come close to meeting Nix's numbers out of the gate with lots of room for improvement. You expect the young QB to improve from week one into week two. One of the young QBs could improve before the end of the season to be hands down much better than Bo. Bo has shown his whole career to be an average QB at best. He has two weeks to show that he has made the jump this year to being a good QB. If Bo can do that then he can stay QB1 - but if he can't then it's on Bo. -
Oregon Ducks Football: Don’t Count Bo Nix Out Yet
DazeNconfused replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I watched Robby play in one of the post season All-American games after high school. He was the worst QB in the game. He was missing reads on WRs and then the pressure got to him, and he was running for his life. But in his first Spring Game he had improved a ridiculous amount. He led the drive and threw the game winning TD. The QB room Moorhead ran did wonders for Robby. Coming out of that Spring game part of me wondered if he was the Guy out of the three young QBs. He had improved his reads, strong arm, great size and running ability screamed trouble as a dual threat QB. -
Oregon Ducks Football: Don’t Count Bo Nix Out Yet

I think it's a lot bigger picture than Bo for fans. We endured Herbs being held back to watch him show how special he was his rookie year in the NFL. If we weren't running pistol up the gut Herbs was good enough to take us to the playoffs. Then Shough got off to a good start but kept throwing that same pick to the underneath coverage. Mario had the offense dialed back and we saw Shough start to regress when playing so tight. Last year was AB the transfer who didn't light it up and that was good enough for Mario. The young QBs sat Now we have a new HC and OC with another transfer QB who has a checkered past. Now the young QBs are sitting again. Fans are fed up. They lived thru the Mario risk adverse offense years and a bad transfer QB. Now we have new OC with a more open offense and another bad transfer QB. If Bo doesn't go kick the heck out of BYU fans are going to have had enough. Tons of fans would rather play one of our young blue-chip QBs and let them take their lumps while they develop. We would rather lose more games living on the edge of our seat watching Ty grow, pondering if late in the season he becomes a star. That's exciting -- that's watching the future grow. It's a 180-degree different vibe losing games watching the young kid QB grow, to losing games watching the Vet Transfer QB under preform. -

Oregon Ducks Football: Don’t Count Bo Nix Out Yet
DazeNconfused replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The safe bet is to go with the experienced transfer QBs the last two years. For Mairo with his system he wasn't looking for a Star QB, just a Vet to run his offense. That offense wasn't asking for a QB to go win the game with big time down field throws. It was a power run offense with dink and dunk passing game. Mario trusted AB would screw up less -- it wasn't about if Ty or Butters had a higher ceiling when they got developed in games. This year Bo is the safest course for 1st year HC Lanning -- he knows what he has in Bo. I will also point out both of the last two staffs have Ty as QB2 - even though Butters looked better in the Spring game. That tells me both staffs seeing a larger sample size think Ty has the higher upside of the two backup QBs. -

Dilly likes to use multiple backs in his system, it's just how he rolls. In 2018 at Memphis Dilly had two backs go for over 1000 yards on the #4 total offense in FBS. We can want a primetime guy, but we I suspect we will end up with two. -
The Oregon Ducks Offense: The Bunch Toss
DazeNconfused replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
He didn't get beat by the edge rush like he did in the spring - he did have two false starts. Sala is a better run blocker than pass - run blocking is the strength of the OL. I'd like to pick a back to feature and get him at least 10 carries in the first half, so he gets in a groove. I don't think I'm liking Dillys RB by committee he is known for. Bucky Irving was the RB that started the game and I think that's because Dilly likes his run-pass ability. I'm pro running Carwell down team's throat as I feel he is our 100 yards a game guy each week if he gets the touches. -
Does The Transfer Clock Start Today?
DazeNconfused replied to Babyjesus615's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I have two problems with Bo's first pick. 1. It should have been to the WRs outside shoulder towards the sideline - then the DB has to go through the WR to make a play on the ball and the odds of a pass interference call increase. 2. Seven at 5'8" isn't the player I want to throw that go route to - he was against 6'1" DB. That play is for Thorton 6'5" or Frankin 6'3" who can both go up and highpoint that ball over the defender. That's on Dilly IMO The second pick was vintage Bo. The jury is out on Bo - the last drive on fourth down he overthrew the ball to TE Fergusen on a cross but had Cota the first crosser as the open man. I just don't know if I believe in Bo's field vison down in the red zone. -
Dawgs Defense Displays What Ducks Want To Be
DazeNconfused replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Good point! Lanning is the position he can push these players all year while telling them they have a way to go as a team and individuals. If you want to go to the NFL and Lanning says you got work to do still, you're going to listen. Same with the team, they are a good team when Lanning tells them they are... keep working the process -
Dawgs Defense Displays What Ducks Want To Be
DazeNconfused replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Lanning just talked after practice yesterday that the Defense wasn't as good as it needed to be yesterday in practice. They did red zone, situational awareness, tackling and 3rd down work with the defense. I's sure Lanning won't be telling them they improved enough anytime soon as he won't want any let up on the working to improve. We know what to watch with the defense this week for improvement folks. -
