Dawgs or Trojans?
Reportedly, if USC loses, then our game against the Trojans will likely be at 7:30pm on FOX. I hate attending late games, so I'll be pulling for USC. https://twitter.com/wilnerhotline/status/1719050422093295899/photo/1

We Got SNOOKERED by Utah Fans....
I haven't had many interactions with Utah fans but they have a first class head football coach.

Watch: OC Stein Burns Blitzes from Utah
I watched the replay earlier today and came away impressed with how Oregon attacked the middle of Utah's defense. With your excellent article, now I know why they were successful. Dan Lanning mentioned that the Oregon coaching staff was making adjustments to the game plan, late in the week, based on some things they saw. I wonder if this was one of those adjustments. Bo Nix was especially sharp to start the Utah game. I believe that Bo's only incompletion in the first half was a perfect pass that was uncharacteristically dropped by his wide receiver.

QUAAACK! 5-star EDGE Elijah Rushing Announces Commitment to Oregon
Wow. What a huge pickup by Lanning, Tosh and staff! Our defense will continue to be dominate for years to come. I was bummed when he originally announced that he would be staying home. So glad that he kept in touch with the coaching staff and reconsidered. He had to love what he saw on Saturday against Utah. Welcome to the Oregon family, Elijah. Can’t wait to see you wrecking havock in the opposing team’s backfield.

A Few Thoughts and One Question About the Defense?
Great thread! This is what makes this message board so great. The TV analyst during the Utah game mentioned that Oregon was playing more man-to-man coverage on the outside this year. That would be understandable, given the overall upgrade of our secondary personnel this season. Last season, it seems like our coaches were playing a more bend but don't break D and too often (e.g., UW game) they seemed to break. Have others seen the same change in secondary coverage?

Does Lanning Have a Weakness Against OC Head Coaches?
Oregon was ahead 31-10 late in the 3rd quarter. Barring turnovers, shouldn't you expect your defense to win you the game? Twenty-one points in the 4th quarter to a team who couldn't throw a forward pass? The Oregon defense got absolutely gashed on the ground by OSU last year - 268 yards rushing! It was an embarrassment and reminded me of the Stanford game with Toby Gerhart. Credit to the coaches for going out in the off-season and fixing the issue.

Dawgs or Trojans?
It's probably better for Oregon if Washington wins but I can't root for the mutts, under any circumstance. I hope that they both beat the crap out of each other...

Thoughts On Today's Other Games
I would be shocked if it’s not the 7pm PT game on the PAC-12 Network.

Does Lanning Have a Weakness Against OC Head Coaches?
The losses last year to UW and OSU were on the defense, IMO. In the off-season, DL and staff completely revamped the D with key transfer portal players and through high school recruiting. Oregon’s defensive is much improved this year and is one of our best in years. The loss this year to UW could have gone either way with a couple of different decisions or if Oregon executed and picked up just one of the three fourth downs. Hopefully we get a rematch with the mutts in Vegas.

Dan Lanning Speaks Out Against Gun Violence
Players informed the Oregon coaches that gun violence was an important issue to them and as a father of young children Dan Lanning decided to use his platform after the Utah game to say something about it without trying to get political. DL would like to see smart people take a common sense approach to finally do something about the gun violence in this country. Address all of the issues, don't just focus on one. Stop doing nothing and expecting different results. As a father of young children, his statement really registered with me. When we send our kids to school, we shouldn't have to worry about a mass shooting. It's past time for action!

A Team on a Mission
Bo Nix has mentioned multiple times, including in his Utah post game interview, that he wants to win a championship. "My ultimate goal is to do whatever I can to win games. The guys in the locker know that I want to win a championship." - Bo Nix It's probably one of the major reasons that brought Bo back this year, along with the NIL. Bo knows that Oregon has all of the pieces to win a national championship. The Ducks are one of the most balanced teams in the nation, on both sides of the ball (and on offense), and just need a few bounces to go our way and execute from here on out.

Bo Nix Runs in Utah Game
I was delighted to see Bo Nix with more designed runs against Utah. He only had 4 carries for 8 yards but most of them were short yardage situations including a TD and, if I'm not mistaken, the TD near the goal line where he tossed a lateral pass to Holden looked like an RPO play where he had the option to run it. It was nice to see Oregon's offense take advantage of his mobility in a big game. Where were those plays in Seattle against UW, especially on the last 4th and 3?

Thoughts On Today's Other Games
Oregon dodged a bullet with the hiring of Dan Lanning.

Should Bryce Boettcher Focus on Football?
I could be wrong but I believe that any multi-sport athlete that plays football, counts against the 85 football scholarship limit.

I'm Lightheaded....'Oregon is a Physical Team!'
I'm glad that Oregon's defense is finally being recognized nationally. Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi have major street cred from their national championships at Alabama and Georgia, and know what they are doing. You have to love what they are building at Oregon. Hope all those uncommitted players were watching the game today!

FishDuck Post Game Show
Oregon played as well as they have on the road, in a tough environment, against a good, physical and well-coached Utah team. Dan Lanning said it was the first game that the team played a full 60 minutes. Next up, Cal. I wish Utah well the rest of the way. They have a classy program.

Ruh-Roh! The Hits Keep Coming for USC...
I thought the same thing would happen at USC under Pete Carroll when he would sign 5-star after 5-star (and Oregon was happy to get a few of those recruits, at the time, like DAT). The same could be said about Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State today. However, elite recruits usually have supreme confidence in their abilities (some may call it arrogance). These players have known nothing but success, dominated at every level and been told how amazing they are by family, friends, fans, recruiters, coaches, etc. They believe that they will be able win the starting job because they are different, faster, stronger, better, etc. than other players (past or present). As long as Oregon keeps winning on the field, creates a good environment for the athletes and sending players to the NFL, the high level recruits will keep coming.

Michigan Guilty or Framed?
Can someone please explain why it's against the rules to steel an opponent's signals? I understand why it might be considered unsportsmanlike but unless they were paying someone who is deemed to be an extra coach on staff up and beyond the NCAA limit, I don't understand the NCAA rules that Michigan broke. Of course if the person is hacking into computers then that would be against the law, and thus the FBI involvement. However, that person could have been doing that without the knowledge of Harbaugh or Michigan. Isn't it up to teams to better disguise and change their signals?

Ruh-Roh! The Hits Keep Coming for USC...
I also like how Lincoln Riley and USC are loading up on skill positions (mostly through the transfer portal) but Oregon continues to win the battles for blue chip offensive and defensive lineman. It doesn't matter how many skilled players you have, if Oregon is blowing up the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Lanning is building Oregon's roster for the long-term.

Ruh-Roh! The Hits Keep Coming for USC...
TT has looked much better this year. Hopefully, it has clicked for him and he can take full advantage of his natural talents. That said, elite teams constantly bring in elite talent to compete, at every position, year-after-year (e.g., USC under Pete Carroll, Bama under Nick Saban). Unless the coaches are 100% confident that TT is capable of leading Oregon to a national championship then you should bring in an experienced QB via the transfer portal and let them compete in spring and fall camp for the starting position. The same should be true for every other position...you have to win your job every year. Nothing is going to be handed to you based on your past success (look at Oregon's secondary this year, as an example).

So What Were the Picks for the Oregon-Utah Game on ESPN?
LOL. I wouldn't count McAfee or the Utah guest picker, so it was 2-0 in favor of the Ducks! Desmond and Kirk have forgotten more about football than the other two know combined...

Michigan Sign Stealing Takes a Great New Turn Called Karma
I think that 2007 team may have been Oregon's best team ever and would have won the National Championship, if Dennis Dixon stayed healthy. Loved those green O helmets and wish they would bring them back as part of the regular rotation.

Whittingham is a Pretty Cool Dude
I was hoping that Oregon would hire Whittingham before they hired Willie or Mario. He's a heck of a coach and just wins. Utah has represented the Pac-12 well and should dominate the Big XII.

Why Did Oregon Pass...When They Should Have Been Running Sooner vs. WSU?
I’m a big believer in attacking an opponent’s weaknesses until they prove that they can stop you. Strength against weakness = recipe for success.
