To further fan the flames- on Jan 1 Dam Nation (their collective) sent out an email asking for donations in the amount of $41.21. They indicated this amount was created by a random number generator. I totally had to contain myself to not reply to the tweet that maybe they could also ask for donations in the amounts of $49.14 (2024 score) and $31.07 (2023 score). Another possible snarky remark could have been that $41.21 must be an expectation of what the average beaver fan could afford. Then again after a 5-7 season and sitting on the sofa during bowl season maybe they could dig around said sofa and come up with a few pennies. They also have the opportunity to save some pennies by going down to the local thrift store to shop for J Smith and D Martinez gear.

Absolutely agree with this Charles. BUT I will say his comment about not feeling he was a priority made him sound like a prima donna. I think its best for him and Oregon that he moved on.

What transpired here is a great example of Mario’s inability to build and cultivate team culture. He talked a ‘big game ‘ when he was at Oregon about culture and family yet it was only talk. Guys on the team at that time said there was relatively little culture and no feeling of family. One player who played for both MC and Dan shared that Mario never had team functions at his home. Dan has a totally different approach. Not only does he regularly have the team to his home, he stresses that his door is open anytime for a player to come over and hang out. Many do go to his home on a regular basis. This says something IMO.

But what reasons did he give those coaches to believe in him??? He never looked comfortable and sure maybe some of that is coaching but it just seems the kid was way overrated. I honestly wonder how much he even likes playing football.

Never underestimate Marshall Malchow. He is 1000% legit.

I'm sure he is thinking very hard. Dan is a bit of a mad scientist, but in a different way than Chip was.

I know the opinions on James are mixed and certainly mine are at times. One thing I will say is that for all his long winded questions at pressers and post game interviews, he is pretty astute. His insights are typically well researched and his reasoning tends to be sound. Is he always right??? No, but are any of us???? He came out with his Rose Bowl analysis this AM and I am sure there will be plenty more, but this one is his Sneak Peek column and he picks the Ducks to win 31-28. Willy Lyles and Willy Taggart are two distinctly different things with regard to Oregon football. One got Oregon in big trouble with the NCAA over recruiting violations which were serious. Chip’s fingerprints were all over the mess along with another former assistant coach. But, back to our regularly scheduled programming and Rose bowl focus.

Chip’s exit to the NFL was aided by the Willy Lyles investigation . Remember that? Chip was potentially due to be severely sanctioned. Leaving was the best option for him and Oregon. water under the bridge now but Chip’s options were severely limited.

Yes Chip appeared to have a great game plan aided by Tennessee’s abysmal defensive game plan. Nico needs lots of refinement and coaching.

I don't recall many games that Mario coached teams were prepared for. I still remember the game at Stanford when Joe Moorehead fell seriously ill and Mario had no plan. The Ducks had no clue what to do and it showed. I sat behind the bench and the coaches looked like the keystone cops. That was it for me with Mario.
