The Best USC Fan Response to Moore's Verbal to Oregon...
Augduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The bigger question in my opinion is do the troyboys have cranial vaults? -
Dan Lanning Has West Coasters Shook!
Augduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great article. Hoping it continues. The indicators for success are trending in the right direction. Yes, Dan can recruit, but all indications are he can coach as well and has surrounded himself with good people. Remember what Steve Jobs said 'it doesn't make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do. Hire smart people so they can tell you what to do'. I think Dan (unlike his predecessor whom I have never hidden my disdain for) does this and it's created a culture of accountability and success THUS FAR. Yes, we all wish the UW games ended in a different manner last year BUT if Dan and his team learned from that then yes Oregon will be a big time player as long as DL is here. His ability to recruit will only grow. -
Ruh-Roh! USC Fans Unhappy With Oregon Recruiting....AGAIN

I read those comments from.the USC keyboard warriors and I can't help but think of the Mark Twain axiom, ‘ better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt’. -

Recruiting: Are You Less "Into It" Than Before?
Augduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I am much more interested in recruiting because it's obvious Dan has a methodology and his BS meter (hope I can say that) is very finely tuned. His predecessors just looked at stars. I get the star gazing but a good recruiter digs in and looks for the little things. Dan said something awhile back that has always resonated with me because it's what I have relied upon for many years in my line of work, building relationships. And to further amplify that, a part of building relationships is listening for what someone DOES not say. I have heard from good sources Dan is 'very astute and in tune' given his youth. He clearly learned well from Nick, Kirby and Mike Norvell. I am sure there are others but those stand out obviously. -
Are We Seeing What Cristobal DREAMED Of?
Augduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
At this point in his career I doubt Mario changes too much. He is too insecure (deep down) and lacks the ability to do any self introspection. Again, (I know I have said it multiple times so sorry for the repetition) Mario will NEVER be comfortable not being the smartest man in the room. Any time he hires anyone outside of his 'circle of trust' they either end up leaving or he gets rid of them. He brought Salavea' and Miraball and Feld with him to Miami because they tell him what he wants to hear. The net here IMO is Mario will continue to look like he 'walks the walk' but I think we all pretty much know he can't. I realize this sounds harsh and I honestly don't want to see him fail but he had generational talent at Oregon and could not figure out how to use it. What makes us think he will figure it out with Ward and Martinez? -
SERIOUSLY? Dan Lanning Needs to 'Get Out of Oregon?'
Augduck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This article gives much creedance to the axiom that it’s better to remain silent and let people think you are a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. -
RIP Bill Walton - Dead of Cancer at Age 71
Augduck replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
A Duck fan and a Stones fan is a beautiful combo. I totally relate. My passion for the Ducks and the Stones is the exact same as Bill's was for the Dead. -
I get Deion hyping his program. A good coach does that. BUT, there is a right way to do it and a wrong way to do it. Unfortunately Deion is not going about it in the best way and neither are his sons. Maybe they will learn. I hope they do. Going to the Big12 won't be a cake walk for them. Whittingham is formidable and knows how to coach as do others in the B12. Deion would be smart to observe and learn from as many of them as he can. Hype is one thing, delivering on the hype is a whole other realm.

I NEVER Thought I Would Ever See This at Oregon...

The Lanning effect as opposed to thinking you win championships by running up the middle every other play. -
Canzano: Oregon Harmed Oregon State in a Consequential Way
Augduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
John will continue to play both sides. He needs the clicks. He will continue to buddy up to DL and express his unrequited love for Bray and OS at the same time. Not implying he should take sides just confirming he’s a sycophant. I too canceled my subscription to his drivel. I just couldn’t stand it anymore. -
Gushing Green: B1G Network Gives Ducks Lots-of-Love
Augduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
"Dan Lanning cut his teeth on the other side of the ball. Oregon is aggressive, but they don't take a ton of chances and make a ton of mistakes on defense. Lanning, from that Nick Saban tree, knows how to call a defense." I will go out on a long limb and say that unlike other coaches at Oregon from that Nick Saban tree (won't name names but you know) Dan knows how to coach and surround himself with people who he collaborates with as opposed to being a micromanger who can't get out of his own way. -

Second to when they ORY-GONE -
Mario was never able to talk about anything other than football for fear he would not be the smartest man in the room. Dan does not have that fear hence his conversations with John are more free flowing and Dan gives you a glimpse into his life away from football. Dan is approachable. Mario was not (in any way) and I say that from having interacted with both (not extensively in any manner but a bit personally) and had the opportunity to observe both of them in social settings and suffice it to say it was night and day difference.

Have to agree Mr. FishDuck. Dan also seems to be very astute in his conversations with John. He knows exactly what to give him and does a good job of making John feel like he is really good buddies with him and John eats that up. Let's just say I think Dan has John pretty well figured out and he uses it to his advantage.

Oregon DB Daylen Austin Arrested for Hit-and-Run
Augduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes, heard the same with reference to the deceased. Also heard the part about Austen being confronted with the hammer. Have heard mixed stories on the alcohol. As you said lots more info to come out most likely.
