Trick play? Or making the opposition be sound defensively? Was the Dennis Dixon, Statue of Liberty and the subsequent fake version in the Big House trick plays? Or just a well orchestrated series of plays to force the defense to be perfect with their eyes and reads? Chip was great at exploiting tendencies, using great two point schemes and forcing defenses into making mistakes. I’d like to think that we will see some similar levels of creativity and aggressive play calling from KD and the gang.

Guessing that the percentage of 7 and 5 step drops will be lower by playing fast and creating mismatches but longer yardage to go situations will expose weakness If Dr Fischer is correct the Tx is tempo, running the ball, combined with quick routes and the QB using his feet to create space and provide time.

Looks like an all around athlete. Fluid hips, toughness, length, some speed and a frame to add some muscle. Solid RB skills. He is college Safety size already. NFL family member doesn’t hurt Sleeper. Very very happy with the Dan Lanning show and we haven’t even had episode one.

At 6’ 2” he will be one of the shorter receivers. A far cry from three under 6’ that the Ducks started last year. TE and WR are stacked with height. Let’s hope they can be physical fast and have good hands. Good times ahead for the Ducks.

Those who come from third world nations often have great perspective. Few can ever truly understand the filth of living amongst wet dogs fighting over meager secondary scraps while you watch Ducks overhead fly south for New Years Day in the sun.

Good to hear. It’s one thing to celebrate a score or big play with your mates. But watching guys celebrate big plays when behind, taunt others for one little play, celebrate big tackles on a negative play and talk trash are all weak. MC was a lot better than WT but the play didn’t always match the attitude.

Several people said the players loved Mario. Agreed. However, there’s an aspect that keeps popping up in player interviews. Present players are intimating at a much improved culture and cohesiveness and football now being fun again, suggesting that it wasn’t a tight team under MC. I Think there’s meat on those bones. The Steaks are ahead. Mario was a net benefit to Oregon and if the Ducks are successful this year, he deserves some credit. I’m both thankful for his tenure and not at all unhappy that he’s now in Miami. Like others the way it went down was the issue. I expect better cohesion effort and preparedness from kickoff. I expect better motivation and WHY. MC Ducks were slow starters. I expect a faster more aggressive dynamic big play offense and an aggressive multiple look defense that creates lots of exciting big plays, takeaways, and opportunities for the offense. Speed length size and ability will matter most and the talented will find the field as soon as ready.

Let’s just keep some sanity. If we eliminate the pretty people, we’re getting this on the sideline instead.

Considering what multiple players had to say about the difference between staffs and present culture, I suspect the Ducks will be more cohesive, more explosive, play harder and faster and go for the jugular early. They seem excited. It sounds like the team chemistry and the motivation of the players is better than recent years. More talent, better schemes, better coaching. Good things ahead for Duck fans.

Bo Nix can be argued either way. This read is sobering but college football history is also replete with examples of guys that underperformed and subsequently turned it up and played better in later years. Let us hope Bo fits in that group. This years Duck QB competition will speak to many issues, the talent coaching and growth of several very talented physically gifted but different QBs. Whether the coaches can coach them and make the offense run with good play calling will determine some of the QBs fate. Dilly may have the tallest order on the team in remaking an offense and finding immediate long term stability at QB and one guy capable of starting and entire season. Lots of Hope lots of questions.

Agreed. Winning solves everything. Can’t keep undefeated or popular teams off television and the Ducks are a top ten Brand. Historical prowess and legacy aside, the Ducks are popular now and if they get back to winning and scoring lots of points there won’t be problems.

I don’t count the Ducks out in the ATL v Georgia. Veteran offensive line and QB, an abundance of skill, talent, and a new higher powered offense coupled with a experienced talented front seven and aggressive defense going against a talented but newly replaced and reshuffled Georgia defense while the offense comes out with several replacements on an offensive line that protects a shorter less mobile QB. I don’t see a 17.5 disparity in talent and having come off of a victory in Columbus don’t think many Ducks will feel intimidated. If the Duck coaches can coach the talent is there. If the Ducks manage a victory in Georgia anything is possible going forward. If not BYU looks awfully big. How many losses is unacceptable? 3,4? Am I spoiled AND delusional? Are we there yet? I’m a believer that THE best way to respect someone life is to emulate the good things they embodied and energy they put forth. By all public accounts Spencer Webb was a good human being, a good friend, family member, teammate, and one who lived life to its fullest potential and without reservation. I am sad. I respect everything Charles Fischer has done and continues to do with this wonderful site filled with good people but do wonder what this young man would say about pausing out of grief. This is NOT criticism. Simply a reminder that every one of us could be gone in an instant and living fully like he did, to me, is the best tribute to any person life. With less FishDuck to feed my addiction, I plan to honor this young man by working harder, getting fitter, being kinder, and calling everyone I love and reminding them that I do in FACT love them. Understood ideally you recruit your guys develop them and they stay. However, when the dealer offers another card sometimes your hand just isn’t what you want and you don’t want to bluff. The transfer portal is the new game, it’s weird, potentially divisive, could drive good talent away for playing time but also provides some flexibility if one isn’t convinced one has enough of the right Jimmys and Joes. Transfer portal and NIL are a serious work in progress and the NCAA could screw up a wet dream so sit back and watch them destroy what was for what some greedy People think will make them more money. Agreed, I may have misstated in what I meant by TRAP game. Not that Georgia will overlook the Ducks but a TRAP game in terms of cohesiveness polish and consistency with so many new starters on the Georgia defense and it being their first game as well. If the DillyO is ready the Ducks may get more opportunity than if the game was number two three or beyond. Now the very same can be true of the Ducks with so much more change in o many areas, but the Ducks we’re a very talented team last year that underperformed likely because of poor coaching and an utterly boring and ineffective offense. im cautiously optimistic but not convinced Bennet can carry Georgia if pressured unless they run wild. but you are likely quite correct in thinking they will not overlook this game.
