Can Young Skill Players Make Oregon More Explosive?
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This years offensive talent is physically different. The Ducks started guys at WR who weren’t fast or tall. Williams wasn’t a burner and was 6’3”. The others short slow and not very big. Same at RB. Not particularly fast or big. This season will display multiple receivers and TEs 6’4” and 6’5” and others at 6’”3”. A couple of which have much better speed. Add in scheme changes and we may well see 5 pass catchers lining up all over 6’4”! Not too many DB and LB corps can match that size. At minimum a Red Zone threat. I suspect the TEs will catch more passes and play action from under center will speed things up and create opportunities for separation behind a solid line and improved QB play supported by a coaching philosophy more productive than wrecking ball from a seven yard pistol with 5’9” 195lb RBs. -
What Is Oregon’s Most Important Game of 2022?
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It all starts with Georgia. That is the most important game if we must choose one. Uncle Chuck is correct. Every game matters and even one loss likely derails title hopes. However, Georgia is a measuring stick for many things about Oregon football. Lanning and the other coaches, can they coach, develop, motivate, and scheme? Can Lanning and coaches make in game adjustments? Do our Jimmy’s and Joe’s compare favorably to Georgia’s fairly well known talent? I think the Ducks are well positioned to win this game for a number of reasons. They physical attributes of our overhauled WR and RB room are diametrically opposite to last years starters. Speed size and length are all increased, which combined with a more experienced TE room likely creates scenarios unavailable last season, like 5 pass catchers over 6’3 at one time. The return of Justin Flowe and Defensive front improvements. Yes KT is gone but Taki and others should help slow the run game and give the LB something to feed on. Georgia represents a huge opportunity and is a likely trap game for Georgia. Overconfidence and with an immobile short quarterback who will need perfect protection and replacing many many starters which no matter how talented likely leads to missed assignments and opportunity. I’d take 17, I might even bet the Ducks straight up. To me, Georgia sets the tone for it all and is critical is validating the off-season of massive change. It’s THE most important game for THE Oregon Ducks just like beat THE team last year could have been had there not been so much Cri$tobull$hit towards the end of the season. -
USC Fans Do NOT Want Oregon in the B1G...Whew!
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The recent results suggest otherwise. -
I’m starting to think the way to best the money game is best them with the money game. Push the boundaries of NIL to get the Jimmy’s and Joe’s. Tailor a scholarship “Football degree” to be focused around generating NIL monies while class work centers on basic financial competence financing debt and wealth management investment strategy business marketing and mentors student athletes to build wealth while getting multiple degrees over 5 years of football in preparation for and beyond the possibility of any NFL career. Sell the recruits on the path that includes THE best and continuing to get better Football facilities. Sell the recruits on knowing they will make money, learn to manage and invest it, grow it and leave college with the possibility of multiple degrees and an investment portfolio while playing for one of the top competitive football programs in the nation. Up the ante and start making Oregon football graduates the most wealthy football graduates in the nation. Football Alumni too. If they want to make it about the money. Create real lasting financial growth for recruits coming to Oregon.

OK, Let's Slow Down and Think This Through...

Dumping two new high powered offenses into the defensive run oriented big too many conference should produce some bitter losses to the top teams. More risk than reward. -
OK, Let's Slow Down and Think This Through...
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to Duck Fan 76's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
It’s an interesting point I was pondering myself, seeing Oregon in the eyes of now being a Clemson West. Be Dominant in a weaker conference. We may just stand pat at 10, dominate, and be just fine. Go undefeated and just win. The money will always come in when you dominate. Play the SEC way, and switch to 8 conference games, 4 out of conference with a patsy on week 10 or 11 to rest some guys. Make NIL millionaires, but put the kids in financial programs to teach investing and money management including family educational outreach for help dealing with agents business deals and hanger ons. Make Oregon players the wealthiest most business savvy college football players in the nation. Sell the Ducks as the program that can get you to the NFL and get rich before you get there and stay rich after. Out recruit, out coach, keep winning and Dominate while the Big too many conference struggles to have undefeated teams at the end of the season. -
Colin Cowherd--No Friend to the Ducks or the Pac-12
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to a topic in Our Beloved Ducks
His name is perfect. He has the intellect of a Cow and only runs with the herd. Colin coward is the ultimate loud mouth beta male. He is all ego and devoid of actual intellect. Listening to him is worse than fingernails on a blackboard. -
George Kliavkoff--Completely Blindsided?
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to Desert Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
While Larry $cott deserves a lot of blame, I Respectfully disagree, George needs to go, TODAY. Clearly un curious George was very intentionally left out of the loop. A massive no confidence vote by usc and ucla and an illustration that George isn’t qualified to do the job. His one job was protect and enhance the conference. He failed miserably and the PAC12 conference is now DONE. He should be fired immediately with cause. -
George Kliavkoff--Completely Blindsided?
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to Desert Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Pac 12 is 0/2 on commissioner quality. The ship is sinking fast. How the heck can he not have known, unless he engendered zero respect within usc and ucla. sorry George, you’re just Larry Scott in drag. -

Be careful if China is attempting unwanted penetration. Use protection of you can’t resist their advances. Backup. Backup back up. -
Mariø Cri$tøbull$h....can’t say IT here. The slashed ø is a very nice petty touch to the simmering disgust we still feel surrounding the smell of Mario’s departure. I’m over it but it was nice to dredge up those feelings for a bit.

Utah's Defense can be Better in 2022?
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to Tandaian's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Also hard to recreate the emotional motivation of losing 2 players and playing in their memory. As emotional as the game is I’d have to think there’s a little letdown in the extra motivation factor. but who really knows. It’s why they play the games and don’t just anoint winners. -
Bo Nix’s Picks: Can You Live With Them?
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Don’t forget 1981 NFC championship game 49ers against the Cowboys. Joe three three picks and Everson walls dropped a fourth right before the catch. Thats a lot, and he was a pretty good QB. Bo nix has no picks to date. Clean slate. -
Upside of Ducks WR Transfer Caleb Chapman
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Agree completely. The ability to mix and match and create favorable matchups. Seven and kris running all over the field. And then suddenly the defense has to cover three receivers at 6’5” and tight ends going 6’5” and 6’6”. The WR room looking good! -
Upside of Ducks WR Transfer Caleb Chapman
Vandownbytheriverduck replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I repeat and amplify previous comments about lining up 5 pass catchers at least 6’ 5” and taller. not many teams college or pro can cover that height spread out. another 6’ 5” receiver. Competition at minimum. But I think we’re going to see real height consistently at WR and it’s going to be a weapon. -
6’ with 4.53. Speed kills.

I think the Ducks can be more than competitive. The Dawg Defense lost serious cohesive talent to the NFL. They too will be untested in live action. Georgia never really had a dominant offense last season. Credit to them for doing enough to win it all, but Stetson Bennet is not big, not fast, not tall, nor does he possess a plus arm. He can be rattled. He will be rusty. He is beatable. Oregon’s defensive line returns a ton of talent and adds two starters to compete. Pass rush can and will come from everywhere. The LB Corp is deep with speed and there’s both some speed and length in the secondary. To me, Lanning took over a pretty talented roster and has improved it. Flowe and Others are back as well. The offense looks 100% different and ready to push tempo pace and spread the ball around, while looking to exploit matchups in the passing game. Matchups that can potentially include lining up 5 pass catchers who are 6’5” and taller. That’s tough to defend. Bo Nix if he starts gives great experience and familiarity with the SEC big stage. If he’s not the starter then Ty or Butters must be pretty special to beat him out. The opener is a huge game. We find out what kind of coaches Lanning and company really are. The talent is there. The roster was not bare and has improved dramatically. The measurables alone are a massive step forward at WR and RB. While the pressure might not be present from the outside world the pressure to seize the opportunity is massive. A havoc oriented speedy defense pressuring Georgia as Georgia does to others and then forcing their defense to play quickly cohesively communicate accurately and then defend Oregon’s length height size and speed all over the field. Which online betting can I do from CA? I want Ducks and 17.5 all day long. 35-26 Ducks.
