As you know, there were SO many doubts about "soft" and "finesse" Oregon joining the Big-10. I recall online pundits stating that "Oregon will not hold up to the physicality of the Big-10, especially when they play on the road in November."

What is more classic Big-10 game than playing at Iowa in November in freezing rain? Oregon's physicality was demonstrated in the Penn State game, but it was showcased in this Iowa game. Down three great receivers and the Ducks have to run the ball....and the Hawkeyes know it?

I think Oregon has shown B1G toughness, and just ask Washington how tough it is to play at Wisconsin...even when they are the bottom-dweller?

Hearing announcers question our "toughness" every week is like hearing the comments "catch by Tez Johnson, he's Bo's brother" each and every time, it's annoying.

This game was won by our D-line and our O-line. Well done boys.

The only toughness left to display is in the clutch on third down. Our defense had a shot at keeping Iowa under ten points, and thirty points was begging the offense to score it.

Anyone claiming OBD aren't' physical enough to handle elite teams is biased. The difference between OBD and the title contenders is their ability to convert third downs on offense when the chips are down, and stop teams on third down in the same situations on defense.

The offense needs to start killing it when passing. Moore has got to be more consistent. It really boils down to him stepping up and taking over the game. He's shown he can win the close ones. We need to see him put teams out of contention. He is just off the mark too often. If he cleans that up, the defense will do it's part.

Our lack of a disruptive pass rush is a huge concern. Additionally, possibly because of the former, is the blown coverage when a pass play stretches out. We were hurt several times on passes to a wide open receiver. Assuming we make it into the playoffs we’re going to struggle against quality passing teams unless we can get to the qb and maintain assignments with our db’s.

Though Moore wasn’t real sharp with passing today his pass to Benson was other-worldly. Props to the entire team for roughing out another close game!

This is 2 rock fight BIG 10 game victories that OBD's have played in with heavy rain and wind. Todays game threw in some freezing rain for good measure.

Proud of the team, especially the next man up. That just shows talented 2nd and 3rd team players ready to play and perform.

This offense leaves points on the table and hopefully they can clean that up.

The Defense keeps giving the Duck O great field position and would like to see the O put points on top.

This was truly a BIG 10 November slugfest and OBD' did not flinch like the leg-lifters.

The Duck O and Dante executed a less than 2 minute drive to WIN! Kiss the nearest tush Herbie, the Game Day loudmouth and Iowa beat writers.

OBDF membera, since joining the conference the Ducks are 21-2. With losses to tOSU and IU, what more do we have to prove that we belong in the BIG?

Nine games into the season and I'm wondering where the Ducks scoring offense has gone. Iowa played tough and had more passing yards. That's right, run first Iowa had more passing yards. Our Offense is struggling to put points on the board. Hats off to Atticus who made the difference with three good kicks, especially that last one.

Our Defense on Iowa's last drive was especially concerning, with a wide open receiver prancing right down the middle of the field for a big gainer and a touchdown play that screamed "Watch out for the QB!" who walked in for an easy score.

With the exception of some flashes that belong on a highlights reel, the Ducks just don't look like they are playing up to the level of their talent. Something is not working.

Is it griping or “pondering”. I thought we were welcome to ponder without being berated.

Dr. Jack, I am not the only person to notice the extreme number of negative posts that you put out. It is not a revelation considering what I’ve written in the past, but I do not like it when people are excessively negative the majority of the time. (Especially with all the winning we do) I have been notified by moderators in the past, and even jokes have been made about predictions of what negative things you will write. They are right more often than not, and I have not brought it up until now. If you stand by your record, then it isn’t being berated, it is being recognized and stated for what you write.

When it mattered, Moore led a game-winning drive, including a terrific throw to a blanketed wide receiver. And OBD's FG kicker in a pressure situation and in terrible weather came through.

In November, Iowa, under Kirk Ferentz, was 5-1 in Kinnick Stadium against top 10 teams. Kirk and the Hawkeyes are now 5-2 in November versus top 10 teams.

With a reshuffled O-line, OBD rushed for 261 yards. Iowa rushed for 140. The passing game was not there until it mattered tonight.

A TE who will be drafted in the 1st round, as well as OBD's best WR, who will also go early in the NFL draft, were not able to suit up. Another receiver who will be drafted in April left the game in the first series on offense.

OBD won both LOS, playing in the kind of weather the Hawkeyes wished for. Playing the kind of bully-ball Iowa is known for.

THIS was a terrific win for the Oregon coaches and players. A game that many an 'expert' predicted OBD would lose.

8-1 with the loss coming against the PO Committee's 2nd-ranked team. Win out and host a 1st round PO game?

7-0 - Oregon (plus 1 more for last year's B1G Championship game)

3-3 - UCLA (plus will visit OSU this season)

2-4 - USC (why will they have 6 trips instead of 7 in two seasons?)

And, another WR who has missed most of the season, and one who did miss. Kenyon Sadiq, Dakorien Moore, Gary Bryant Jr., Evan Stewart, Kyler Kasper. Also out, freshman Jack Ressler.

Harkey being out wasn't great for depth either. 3 guys who normally start missing. Ducks met the gut check scenario.

I know most people would just leave this site after receiving a response like this, but I’m not one to back down. If you can’t back this post up with examples then I officially call you out for being full of steer excrement (I’m being very polite). I provide accurate analysis. I rarely throw out opinions that aren’t backed up with fact. Hell, I was dead accurate about my analysis of today’s game. We won by 2 points. A safety caused by a punter’s mistake.

You have your opinions....and I have mine. I am not going to play the "show-me" game; others have noticed before I did, and your Minnesota comment was accurate, but shockingly negative considering the tough, gritty win the Ducks just had.

Perhaps saving that for later in the week when we are preparing for the Golden Gophers? But writing it immediately after a great win seems....excessively negative....as I wrote.

But we can disagree....no sweat.

As a high school QB back in the mid to late 1960's I can share that wind, rain, freezing rain and snow always affected our offense.

Our league played a friday night triple header, with game 3 kicking off at 9:30 or 10:00 pm. Tempertures in the second half a bone chilling 19 degrees and falling.

You play a very conservative type of game and depended on our defense to get us great field position. We won games 3-0 and lost 3-0. The very same offense that scored 40 plus in September games. The last 2 Ducks games fell in the miserable conditions category.

Ole Miss, Alabama, A&M and Georgia's offenses would not light up the scoreboard in those conditions.

Let me share this point of view from a QB and coaches perspective. If I had lost a starting O lineman, a future NFL tight end, a future NFL Wide Receiver and then had another Wide out go down during the game, well i would expect the offense to struggle.

We would move to smash mouth football, grind it out and let special teams and the D make some plays. Special teams got a safety and the D got a critical turnover at the Duck 11 yard line. The O rushed for 267 yards! It is a team game and the team came thru.

If I went down as a starter my backup couldn't read or write, nor could he lace up his cleats. Just think back 2 weeks ago, 3rd play of 2nd half; DM goes down and a walk-on steps up and wins the game.

Next man up is alive and well with this team. But consider that with adverse weather and back-ups the offense would face adversity. Scoring would be less.

I recognize that the offense is not in sync or riring on all cylinders. I admit I got giddy on the monstrous wins over MS, OSU and Beavus. They dont have defenses that can match up

Defenses in the BIG are better ( except Rutgers) IU, Whisky and Iowa defenses call play smash mouth football. They matched up and played hard. The scores showed that.

Hang in OBDF members, this Duck team fights and has no quit in them. I would want them to have my back in an alley fight.

This was a rewarding win and our QB, in his 16th start engineered a game winning drive in 1:51. WOW! FYI the Hawkeyes QB started his 63rd game, with 2 Natty wins under his belt. What was his excuse for only 16 points? Icthink it was the Duck D.

Whittingham’s 118 yds rushing was just the second 100-yd rusher allowed by the Iowa defense this season.  The other was Kaytron Allen who had 145 for Penn State. Iowa beat Penn St.

Iowa QB Mark Gronowski set a single season Big Ten quarterback record with his ninth straight game in which he has rushed for a TD.   The 9 consecutive matched Indiana’s Antwan Randle El, but those 9 bridged two seasons, 1998-99.

For the third time this year, Iowa lost a close game to a really good opponent. First at Iowa State by three; then Indiana by five; then Oregon by two. In all three, the opponent took the lead in the final two minutes.

This is the second year for Oregon in the Big 10. Playing against bigger, better linemen is helping the Ducks become a better team. It is still a work in progress.

How many top college teams would have gone into Iowa today and won???

I have Ohio St winning. Maybe the Aggies too. Oregon, Indiana, Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame - toss ups. Everybody else loses. Maybe Texas is also a tossup.

Oregon should get a lot credit for pulling it out, but I think the 'committees' will knock down the Ducks for such a close call.

I am not surprised that Penn St almost knocked off Indiana. They still have good players. The Big 10 is a tough league to run the table. Iowa would 'own' the Big 12 or the ACC.

I don't have a problem with the offense. Teams have seen film of what Will Stein calls and the Ducks need to adjust.

Who would any of you want to replace as offensive starters for the Ducks? All I got is I wish Evan Stewart did not get hurt. (and of course, today's players who were hurt)

Big 10 teams have better defensive linemen than Pac12 teams. That makes it much harder to sustain and especially finish drives. Oregon runs a lot of offensive plays that just don't work out. I think they will get it figured out, in time.

If I could make a change, it would be to bring in Chip Kelly as OC to call the offense.

Some of my initial thoughts on the game:

• Given the weather forecast and Iowa’s style, this was exactly the type of game I was expecting and wouldn’t have been surprised if the Ducks lost, on the road, against a good opponent. My heart would have preferred that Oregon’s defense prevented Iowa from scoring that last TD but credit to the offense for doing what they had to do to win the game, in horrible conditions and without key starters. I hate these style of games but good teams can win many styles of play, including games that they do not have their “A” game.

• Coach Lanning managed the game extremely well. He realized that this was not going to be a high scoring affair and that every single point could be the difference. I’m glad that he don’t go for it on 4th down at midfield and realized that the probably of conversion on 4th and long was extremely low. He played for field position, trusted his defense, took the points and put his team in a position to win the game.

• I’ve been calling for Davison to start and get more carries, but Whittigham was great last night. He hit the hole hard and ran over defenders. One of his best all around games as a Duck, against a very good defense, IMHO.

• Atticus Sappington was money tonight (3-3), in terrible conditions, and my game MVP, including a clutch game winner.

That's a function of their style of play. Against good teams it turns it into a whoever gets the ball last coin flip. Their style is gimmicky in its own way.

I agree with everything you wrote. Lanning played the hand dealt to him marvelously. I certainly said we had to Make Gronowski and their receivers beat us. While they almost did beat us that way, they only got 100 yards on the ground, due to our bias to stop the run.

Noah Whittington took this game over at one point in the second half. It was his best game in a Ducks uniform of his career.

Iowa’s two big passing plays were due to poor coverage (LB), blown assignment (safeties) and lack of a pass rush. Oregon’s corners were money, as always, and had at least one bogus PI called against them. The DL, particularly the DTs came to play and answered the call (just like the Penn State game) - perhaps they just need to be questioned to play their best.

I was shocked that Oregon only had four in the box on that 4th and goal. It was apparent to everyone in the stadium and watching on TV that Iowa was going to call a QB run on that play. Why not have a sure tackling LB or safety as a spy, instead of a DE?

The clock management at the end of the half and final drive left a lot to be desired and hopefully will be worked on this week. For example, the offense took roughly a minute (half the clock) to pick up that first, first-down and then they completed at least one pass in the middle of the field, short of the first down marker. There was no sense of urgency. Luckily the offense hit a few passes down the field, including that absolute dime by Moore, to set up the go ahead FG.

At least the Committee, unlike AP voters, had Iowa ranked.

The B1G is being dumped as a result of the 'Back-to-Back' champion Big Ten conference is better than the SEC!' recency bias. Try and find an article that doesn't trumpet the SEC as being deeper and better than the B1G. That notes how weak the SEC is at the bottom of the conference.

I never bought into the Big Ten recency bias, and I expected this kind of pushback would be coming. But add in the vitriol in response to Tony Petitti's AQ PO format, and the criticism has become Hive Mind propaganda.

The Texas loss to Florida was a good loss, right? The OT escapes by Texas from Kentucky and Mississippi State show how hard it is to win on the road in the SEC! Hmmmm.

Yesterday - Kentucky 38, Florida 7. Georgia 41, Mississippi State 21. Yet, the two Texas escapes in OT will continue to be touted as terrific wins.

In Nashville yesterday, a mediocre at best Auburn team took the great Diego and Vandy into OT. 2-loss Vanderbilt at No. 16 was ranked ahead of every B1G 2-loss team. I don't believe the sea-going Commodores would have won in rainy Kinnick last night.

Texas at home gave up 31 points to this Vandy squad while escaping with a 34 to 31 win. What a great win!

Is it any surprise that Sark is lobbying for 3-loss SEC teams to make the PO?

I support Petitti's PO plan. In a 16-team PO model, four B1G teams with play-in games to determine teams three and four deserve to be in the field.

I saw nothing out of the ACC and the B12 yesterday that convinces me that these two conferences should have more than two teams in a 16-team PO field. A one-loss BYU should not be ranked above 1-loss Oregon.

Tuesday night. Will a one-loss Texas Tech, with the loss to unranked ASU, remain ahead of one-loss OBD, with the loss coming against the committee's 2nd-ranked team?

A PO field sponsored by SEC broadcast partner ESPN that is a Bowl Extrazaganza and not a true PO that has the better teams playing on their home field, makes more sense than Petitti's plan? I don't think so.
