He really had their D humming at an elite level, then cratered in the immediate post-pandemic world, but had built it back up. In the 2024 season, the Cal defense ranked 14th in scoring defense, 2nd in turnover margin, and 23rd in sacks nationally during the season. At Cal! More than Kirby Smart, Ryan Day, and Dabo, who have won championships. Kiffen had Ole Miss on the cusp of the PO last season, and his team choked at Florida. Now no one in the family doubts Samples. He has been awesome in every way. Samples is Oregon's assistant head coach. When Dan Lanning retires in another 50 years or so, Samples should be ready to take over. 😁
