  2. Darren, i suppose the time has come in the next 3 games for OBD's to peak in all 3 phases of the game. Any of the 8 remaining teams can win their next 3 games and claim a Natty. It is A plus effort time. I do not like to look ahead because it is a 1 game season at this point and TT is now that season. TT averages 42 points a game and gives up like 10 points a game. Oregon D has done a great job holding opponents under their season scoring average. This game will be decided in the trenches. The D doesn't need to peak because they have been consistent all season. Keep TT under 21-24 points and OBD's improve their chances to advance. The Duck D is capable of slowing down the Red Raiders. How much I don't know. OBD's is the best overall defense TT has faced in 2025. TT and MU and the D tackles must cause havoc and force the Red Raiders into being one dimensional. They can do it........ The Duck O appears to be peaking, some what! Over the last 4 games they are scoring about 41 points. The previous 4 games, 31 points. But that includes 56 against Rutgers. The current version of the Duck O is what I expect. If the O line continues to protect, I expect OBD's to score between 28-38 points. OBD's offense is the best balanced TT has faced all season If IU and tOSU advance their defenses are stingy and difficult to score on. However, the Duck D is pretty darn good. But those games are another season all together. Merry Christmas and Go Ducks.....
  3. Hmmm... I suppose you might have an excellent point or two here 😉. The only point I was really trying to make is that it seemed strange that we appeared to abandon a run game against IU. At this point, I have almost zero concern regarding our offense. Even though we were playing against JMU last week, what our offense did in that first half was just unbelievable. My best guess is that will carry right over into the TT game. My concern following the JMU game is that our defense gave up 189 yards in the first half. On the other hand, perhaps JMU's offense is better than I have given them credit for.

Oregon Ducks On SIDan Lanning Reveals Oregon Ducks’ Christmas Plan Ahead Of...EUGENE - Oregon coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks are all business mode during this holiday week. 7. In 1984 the Joe Montana led 49ers went 15-1. The next year they were 9-6. Jack Nicklaus won 73 times, but didn’t win a major for three years from 1967-70. He missed the cut in more than 15% of his starts. Michael Jordan missed lots of slam dunks. It’s sports. OBD had a great first half vs JMU. They had some faux pas in the virtually meaningless second half. No team or player is “peaking” all the time. It can come and go in the blink of an eye. Fan expectations are often unrealistic.
  8. It does not seem we have seen this rendition of Oregon football play its best ball. Which begs the question: Will they? Here are some ramblings as I stew over Oregon’s upcoming Orange Bowl appearance against Texas Tech… The Second Half Letdown Against JMU I am not going to overreact to what happened to the Ducks in the second half ... Will the Ducks Ever Peak
  9. OBDs, I took the following words from Geoff Schwartz's post regarding the selection of the Joe Moore Award on X. I recommend someone knowledgeable (like Geoff, or someone who has played on the O-Line in college) explain the terms Geoff uses in his comments. Otherwise, there is simply no means for interpreting and understanding at least part of the criteria the Joe Moore Award Committee chose to use to evaluate each of the three finalists for the award. Why am I requesting Geoff or someone else with the knowledge and the writing skill to describe what Geoff has stated? Well, Coach Stein tried to describe why the Duck O-line deserved the award, and he failed miserably. O-Line is simply not a tool he can take apart and easily, accurately, and simply describe and converse WRT the utility of each tool and/or technique; but, Geoff can do that. Geoff Schwartz stated, "Congrats to Iowa for winning the Joe Moore Award. On a personal note it's frustrating that Oregon's been a runner up three straight years. They absolutely should have won last season. This year was more of a debate. However I do not believe people value Oregon's pass protection or pass pro in general. They block 5 v 5. No full slide. No turning. Professional pass protection ID v pressure. Empty protection. Went on the road against good defenses and handled business. (sic)" If there is someone out here (and I believe most of us know there are former Duck players who can articulately describe these actions or techniques), please take a crack at these. I would like to become more knowledgeable about the O-Line, and I suspect the members of our O-line would be flattered and appreciative with regard to our interest in their skills and techniques, and the "why" that supports it all. In the world of Div 1 college football generally in the B1G, OBDs' O-line excels; their teamwork and play are the reasons our QB and RBs have the time to do what they do so well. It's great fun to watch the Ducks' O-line defeat/pancake an opposing player or effectively block potential pressure when the opposing players think they can pressure or tackle our offensive ball carriers for a loss. Thanks, and I remain VR, KCDuck1
  10. Yay Poncho!!!
  11. In the words of Dennis Green “Finebaum is who we thought he was”. Seriously, is anyone surprised by anything he says or any take he has?
  12. I grew up in NOLA and went to preschool and elementary school w Peyton Manning. He knows me. 🤷‍♀️🤣 Every time I see the real green and gold of OBD, I am reminded of true Mardi Gras. And I know 💯 the Saints will come marching in!
  13. In the signs it might not be your day department against Indiana. Oregon has an 11 play 71 yard drive end with a missed 36 yard FG with 0:23 second left in the 2nd by is normally reliable kicker. Sappington 48-56 on FGs over his career. 85.7%. Which is very good for a college kicker. In 0:23 seconds, IU was able to travel 40 yards in 3 plays. Indiana kicker Brenden Franke, a 6th year senior, with stops at Morningside College, Nebraska, Georgia Southern, Texas State, and Indiana, comes in and knocks in a 58 yard FG on the road with time expiring that today remains the only made FG of his college career. 1-3 career. Oregon goes in trailing 13-10 instead of leading 13-10.
  14. I'm very very surprised by this, he's had two years as a starter, he's one of the top 3 centers in the country, he has to believe he would get drafted at least in day 2 of the draft. He must have a pretty good deal in NIL. Really shows that you have no idea who will return nowadays.
  15. This is why I share the sports perspective from the WSJ. Really good writers with insightful thoughts on these issues and not AI generated.
  16. A long-time photographer for many universities, Associated Press, and on occasion, FishDuck.com....Gary Breedlove, was shooting the Playoff game last Saturday. Recall the touchdown when Dante Moore ran to the near corner of the end zone for the touchdown? Gary took a string of pictures of Moore coming RIGHT AT him, and did not budge. At the last moment Dante sidestepped Gary, and went back to celebrate with the team. Meanwhile Kenyon Sadiq came up to Gary and said, "You didn't move!" Gary, replied, "no, because his reflexes are a lot faster than mine." (All us Greybeards can identify with that!) Sadiq chuckled and joined the celebrating...
  17. That was a really fun read! It was definately not written by AI, which seems like a 50/50 prop these days. Thanks for sharing!
  18. You and everyone are welcome to your opinions....as I am to mine. So...you refer back to Oregon's ONLY regular season loss in two years, and it was not to a team that is 20th in the nation, or unranked, or simply a bad day; it was to the current No. 1 team in the nation. Fans are frustrated with the one loss, but I think we're better now than the sixth game of the season on October 11th.

  20. I am stunned, as I did NOT expect this. Have you all noticed how Poncho and Dante prayed together after the games? I think they have a tight bond, and this bodes well for Dante staying.
  21. It’s one thing to have bias. However, it is another to be so far out in left field that you become the laughing stock of your profession, which Finebaum is approaching quickly (if he is not already there). He is a complete joke, and everyone knows it. Even the folks in the SEC.
  22. Made my day! DM has football camps in EUG and Portland in June. Makes me feel like he's coming back too.
  23. I can hardly believe it! This is great
  24. Nailed it. In the end, USC's decision is about survival, and what is best for their football program. Whether USC's Administration knew about their commissioner signing a deal or not, or whether they're a bunch of morons, is just noise.
  25. Hey Cisco, and Dante, Poncho is back! How about adding Moore returning talent and joining OL QB Poncho and DL Bear for the 2026 season? Dante, do you want to join the NFL before you can buy a cocktail?😏 Great news. Poncho is the perfect guy to build a new OL around in back-to-back seasons. Next season, perhaps Poncho won't be cheated out of the Remington Award. Speaking of screwed over, make us happy, Sadiq, and come back for a deserved Mackey Award. If he declares for the draft, I think 🤪 Kenjon will be drafted before Vandy's Eli Stowers. Eli Who?
  26. This is an unlocked article from the Wall Street Journal. They make it appear that you have to sign up but you do not. https://www.wsj.com/sports/football/college-football-playoff-blowouts-97696dcb?st=hmJWFG&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
  27. Sorry, but SC made the appropriate business decision. Getting upset over 'Tradition' in today's world of NFL-Lite transactional CFB is nonsense. It makes no more sense than OSU and Wazzu blaming OBD for going B1G. A 2-loss SC would have had a very good case for being in the PO field this season, and if included, millions of additional PO dollars would have hit the B1G's bottom line. To Hades with Notre Dame. Knute Rockne left the building long ago. The brand didn't help bring in viewers for the 2025 PO champ game. Not wanting to share seems to me to be counterintuitive to what the school purportedly represents.
