  2. From a mile away, eh? 😁But Frankly, this news is overwhelmed by the goings on in Unhappy Valley.
  3. If it isn't April Fool's - WOW! On3Penn State fires head coach James Franklin.
  4. Wild to handpick an “easy schedule” and start 0-7. Now they end with a more manageable schedule of no names, but who would pay money to see Sam Houston State? They might actually win a couple games soon, but will anyone see it?
  5. Must have just happened, as I can't find a link, but I have no doubts about it being true.
  6. Were it not for unexpected medical bills, I would still attend every home game I could, and scream and dance with the rest of OBD in attendance. Those of us who sat in the (non-existent) rain, sleet, fog, and seemingly hopeless losses and ties of the late 60s, 70s, 80s, and most of the 90s, probably have a grater appreciation for what it took to arrive at the current state of OBD. I can remember as a teenager walking up to the gate (NO LINE or waiting) 10 minutes before a game with Cal (featuring players then known as Bobby Moore and Isaac Curtis), paying less than $10 dollars each, and proceeding to the seat of my choice, in a half empty Autzen Stadium. OBD lost that day, too. My buddies and I were back the next week to scream our hearts out, in the forlorn hope that better days were ahead. WE WERE RIGHT!!
  7. Well, as long as we aren’t as broken as we looked on offense, this actually really won’t hurt us, and may actually help in the long run. I’m not going to gloss over the offense getting zero TDS in the second half (when we needed them) at HOME. No one, I said no one should be able to do that to us in our house. That being said, we’re still in the top-10 and IU is now considered legit. If we had pummeled them they would have dropped hard in the polls. This makes the conference look way stronger and will go a long ways toward getting 3-4 bids instead of the two it looked it was going to get. Suddenly there are quite a few teams with one loss or less at the halfway point.
  8. I just hope that the COACHES learn that every opposing coach from now through the year will rush 7 guys to take Moore out of the game. Im a Duck fan win or lose ,However I do take losses pretty hard.
  9. “No matter what”! I have been through much worse. I feel the ducks will probably grow more from this loss than a win. Still excited to be planning my trip to Rutgers this Saturday. Night night, Knights!
  10. That massive thud you heard was the Bandwagon Oregon fans jumping off. This is a good gut-check time for real Duck fans, as loyalty is something to be admired--even when you lose. We have a few people here who, like a-pig-in-mud....love to wallow in the negative. And that's even when Oregon is good. But I can't complain; everyone is stating the negative, and that is what a forum is for, and the negative will give us satisfaction later when Our Beloved Ducks learn and improve from this experience. And the big thing...I don't see anyone venting on us, as stating negative is usual and fine, but venting is extreme negative done ten times. Thus this loss reflects the positive of this forum; we, as a community have grown. While we are a small number, it is something to be proud of...to be associated with such people of civility and honor. This team will be quite different come December, and I don't mean the Penn State type of different, IMHO. It will be fun to watch the progress, and thanks for everyone for maintaining dignity, and not joining the Bandwagon Oregon fans. I am an Oregon Fan....NO MATTER WHAT.
  11. As a forum member i take great joy in reading the comments and perspectives on the different threads. From the deeply analytical, the heart broken and the combo sky is falling/end of the world posts. Love them all! This one of a kind, safe haven forum that Sir Charles created allows the freedom for all to express. Here's my perspective. Even though its been over 25 years since i coached, the sophistication of the game may have changed but not the laws of execution, experience and the resulting performances. The Duck D played a solid game and gave the Duck O ample opportunities, with great field position. They even put points on the board! The Duck O, well thats a different story. As a unit they collectively left points off the board. Give credit to Indiana coaching staff! They challenged Moore to beat them and he couldn't. Not because the O line was terrible or skilled position players lost their abilities. Indiana prepared a Defensive scheme that Moore(in his 13th start) could not recognize and audible out of. Duck fans have been spoiled for 3 seasons with 2 NFL caliber QB's with a combined 120 plus starts. Moore has NFL potential but lacks that game time experience. He gained a seasons worth of experience yesterday against a experienced CFP team. This fan will not support a position that blames Moore or the O line. DL and Stein did not help the matters because they kept moving away from the only scheme that worked. The fast tempo and power runs that moved the ball. Moore had no time to even see the wide open, breaking free receivers! IU sent multiple players at him. With the Duck TE's running routes and backs in the slot, OBDF members, 5 lineman cannot block 6 or 7 D players. Moore was on the move, scrambling when those routes broke open. The fast tempo power running plays set up the long TD pass. IU disguised their scheme very well. This Duck team will continue to learn, grow and improve. 11-1 is in their grasp but 10-2 may not make the CFP. We shall see against Rutgers! Go Ducks

  14. Well that's kind of ironic that Pat pointed out that stat. Let's look at the ratio when we play elite teams... That number is pretty significant then isn't it.? And that's what really matters doesn't it? We're a little above the expectation level of an Iowa, Wisconsin or Nebraska. Holding mediocre teams to six trips in the Red Zone isn't much to brag about in my opinion. We've had this discussion already. What are OBD doing against elite teams on defense? Northwestern isn't going the playoffs are they? Neither is Penn this year. So the question is: is Pat misleading us? The question in my mind is what are OBD against the teams that will matter when its win or go home? Our defense needs to stop elite teams from scoring 14-17. That's when we're talking about Blue Blood material. Isn't that the standard actually?
  15. A Book recommendation for Dan and friends: 'Don't Let Byes Give You the Blues. How excessive-compulsive workaholics can take time off and not suffer.' BY - Noah ZZZZZZ's Peaz. 😁 Deion was a Prime Time Ralphie will be in the spotlight hire. Cig? He wasn't wrong - Google him was the only way to learn about where he'd been and what he'd done. By comparison, the K State program was flush with victories before Bill Snyder arrived in the Little Apple. When it comes to CFB trivia, I like to think I know something. 🤪Before yesterday, I did not know that the Hoosiers mascot was a hairy-looking thing without a brush or a comb that I think is a Bison? Cig is the betting favorite for this season's Archimedes Award. Give me a lever long enough (transfer portal) and a fulcrum (NIL - thank you, Mark Cuban et al.), and I will move the college football world. Seven weeks in. The regular season is half over, and only half over. Next case - Beat the Schi out of Schiano!
  16. Hmmm……can’t block, can’t tackle……… What else is there?
  17. Frankly I'am an Illini fan in addition to Oregon and USC. When I watched Indiana demolish the Illini I was shocked at the quickness they displayed on their lines. I was thinking, maybe it was a fluke against the huge slow Illini lines. Nope. It happened again against Oregon. They were very quick. Quicker than our folks. This in addition to Moore playing an odd game was the result. Receivers were open. Why did he not hit them.....who knows. So.......Cignetti found something he wanted and went after it. As for USC....they will probably get stomped next week on the road against Notre Dame. Michigan played a horrible game....their freshmen QB is not ready for primetime.
  18. Dante Moore taking responsibility for loss. "I thought we beat ourselves when it comes to penalties, me missing simple reads. I feel like we didn't have our routine just from start to end. I feel like we kind of beat ourselves." Oregon Ducks On SIOregon Ducks Quarterback Dante Moore Reveals What Went Wr...The Oregon Ducks came into their highly-anticipated showdown vs. Indiana with high hopes considering quarterback Dante Moore was playing at an extremely high le
  19. Painful to read but spot on. Autzen ZooOregon loss to Indiana a day of painful contrastsThis Oregon team has talent, but flaws, and a tough, disciplined Indiana team exploited every one of them.
  20. My response is "Who the he-l cares what McAfee thinks?" As for his prediction, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then". But he did make a gutsy guess before that audience in Eugene, Oregon.
  21. JJ has the right perspective on this loss IMHO. I told my great Duck buddy immediately after the game that the Ducks now have a wonderful opportunity to grow from this and I am glad that this opportunity came in the middle of the season. Here is the basis for my opinion. Last season every thing was roses for the Ducks ...that is, until the Rose Bowl. I saw complacency happening in the Oregon team as everything seemed easy. I feared it and it reared its ugly head in Madison Wisconsin against a team the Ducks should have (in my judgment) beaten easily. Things steamrolled along until the Rose Bowl against a team that the complacent Ducks had already beaten, came in boat raced them, surprising many on this board. I remember telling myself that I almost wish in retrospect, that the Ducks had lost the OSU game in Autzen. Nick Saban used to talk about rat poison, or the complacency that can result when players are repeatedly told how great they are. Today should fix that, losing AT HOME to a conference foe that people underestimated. How great is it that this lesson was learned relatively early and that players will maybe more closely listen when told that they have to scratch and claw for everything they earn? By the time the Ducks learned this last year, their season had just come to an end. Clearly nobody likes to lose. But some losses are better than others, and this one, in my humble opinion, is potentially a good one that could pay real dividends come playoff time.
  22. Nope...Matayo, to me, has gained too much weight. Explosion is gone
  23. I am starting to hear talk about Florida trying to lure Cig to Gainesville after they fire Billy Napier. If I am Cig, I'd stay right where I am. And as a Dawg fan, the prospect of such a move induces nightmares.
  24. Observations The O line is not championship caliber. Coach Cig had his team better prepared than Lanning did and I’d say coached better during the game as well. Didn’t see a plan B from Will Stein when the passing game got bottled up. Receivers not getting separation. That paragraph...repeated from above...and I fully concur. Dante Moore "fault" for not making adjustments? Hell, Indiana was running so much stuff from different spots into his face...and Oregon sacked 6 times....he didn't have in-play time to make adjustments. No single blocker "adjustment" was going to slow down what Indiana was able to do on defense. Indiana had almost all their guys in a box within 7 yards of the line of scrimmage. The Oregon RB's couldn't gain more than 3-4 yds. Moore didn't have time. I'm not sure what kind of adjustments Stein could make to what was going on. Whatever, if he did, it didn't work in the second half either. Disappointed the RB's weren't able to gash into the secondary to make IU's box defense loosen up. And, let's stop the nonsense about Oregon's O-line and the Joe Moore Award.
