Do We Want a First-Round Bye in the Playoffs?
No, because I believe the layoff is too long (it would be a month before Oregon would play again) and teams lose their rhythm, especially on offense, but I think it’s more important what side of the bracket Oregon is on and who they would have to face on the way to the national championship game. FWIW, George Wrightster, on his post game podcast, said that he believes that Ohio State, Texas Tech and Georgia probably match up best against the Ducks.

Do We Want a First-Round Bye in the Playoffs?
Good point, RichardDuck! There are any number of possibilities that can play out. We will have to see how the CFP Rankings roll out on Tuesday. See who might be positioned to jump OBD's if they win their conference championship game. No matter how it goes down DL, staff and players will be ready to play the hand they are dealt. Not sure about other forum members but Sunday morning is so much better after we beat the huskies. Go Ducks......

Do We Want a First-Round Bye in the Playoffs?
I know people are in love with the idea of a home playoff game, but at this point I think we're as likely to have a first-round bye. It probably would just take a loss by either Texas Tech or Georgia in their league title games.

Great Defensive Game for Oregon...But the Offense?
I think Dante was off, timing-wise. He threw a couple ahead and behind schedule. Our receiving corp are pretty darn sure-handed but Sediq diving, turning back for catches, and the one handed catch that was called an incompletion all would have been catches with better timing by Dante. Would I trade Dante for another QB? Nope! He doesnt throw up prayers, ala Mendoza and Penix, that his young receivers (if they were as young as OBD) have to catch to inflate his stats. Mendoza, is lucky his receiver are older and have the experience to be circus clowns with their catches. On a side note, did you hear the talking heads say earlier in the week that if Dante, chose to leave early he would be the #1 QB of the NFL draft? That's with Mendoza winning the Heisman. There is more "upside" to Dante than Mendoza.

It's Easy to ACC that Champ Games Should Disappear
Not Jon… As cool as it would be to see at Autzen, I don’t think you want a team as talented as Alabama or Notre Dame in the first round of the playoffs, if the goal is to win the national championship. I’d rather play a team where Oregon has a clear talent advantage.

Yeah, I'm thinking their roster is going to be obliterated for the playoffs and all of the work of the players will be got nought. Also, he and his family better get on that jet that LSU sent and never go back to Mississipi without security. Those fans are going to be scorned and angry, and football fans from the south are crazy.

2025 CFB Playoff Information, Rankings Show Results
Projecting the College Football Playoff top 12 after Week 14 5. Oregon Ducks (11-1)Why they could be here: The Ducks could get a small promotion this week if the committee drops the Aggies after their loss to Texas on Friday night. Oregon earned a respectable win at Washington, and has impressed the committee with its top-five ranking in offensive and defensive efficiency. Even if the committee keeps the Aggies above Oregon, the Ducks should be in a position to host a first-round home game as one of the committee's highest-ranked one-loss teams on Selection Day. Why they could be lower: With Texas A&M joining the pack of one-loss teams, it's possible the committee still believes the Aggies are better than Oregon, an opinion it has indicated for the past four weeks. How much does a loss to Texas change that perception? The Aggies' road win against Notre Dame is better than Oregon's best victory, which was at home against USC. Need to know: It's possible that by Selection Day, Oregon's only loss is to the Big Ten champs. It's one small factor that could help the committee distinguish the one-loss teams. Oregon's loss to Indiana would likely be viewed as better than Texas Tech's defeat (Arizona State) and Texas A&M's (Texas), but both were on the road, while the Ducks lost to IU at home. Up next: Oregon will await the Selection Day results.

Great Defensive Game for Oregon...But the Offense?
Washington is 18th in total defense (304 YPG) and 16th in rushing defense (103 YPG). They were the third best defense Oregon played this season behind Indiana (4th) and Iowa (9th). Washington is also 19th in scoring defense (19 PPG).

USC Buying It’s 2026 Recruiting Class a la A&M
Don't give it a second of worry. USC is a mob of thugs who have no discipline, no coaching and will face a schedule next year that will make reality obvious even to them. Their administration is so screwed up, Riley will probably stay for another 5 years.

Great Defensive Game for Oregon...But the Offense?
There is significant drop-off between a Stewart and our studs that we had out there today. No disrespect whatsoever intended toward our receivers who did amazing job today. But guys like Stewart, or a Tez Johnson, simply play at a different NFL, semi-gawd-like, type level. With that being said, McClellan was just sick out there today. And that play where he used his head to catch the ball, was absolutely a catch, and absolutely insane. So you say that Sadiq was not at his best today... no problem -- we've got other studs that we can share the love with. It just speaks to our incredible depth. It was great to see so many guys on the receiving end today step up in a huge way.

🤮 How many Rebels will Portal King Lane take with him to LSU, and will the chosen portal players sit out the PO? It's all about the Student-Athletes, right? 🙃

Great Defensive Game for Oregon...But the Offense?
Sappington... my game MVP. That dude was absolutely 100% nails yesterday. I think it was on that 51 yard kick of his that the snap was quite high. The holder did a phenomenal job of catching it and bringing it down, and cleanly placing it. But that seemingly little error in the long snap, completely throws off a kicker's timing. But Sappington was just one amazingly cool cucumber today. Every one of his kicks was dead balls center through the uprights. The kid was in the zone.

Great Defensive Game for Oregon...But the Offense?
The Huskies shut down our rushing game today. The Husky defense against our run game was very impressive. So, what does Oregon do? We go to the air and Dante throws for nearly 300 yards without a single pick, while also running the ball a few critical times. All without our stud receivers. It's really quite amazing. That's what is so beautiful about our offense. If the running game is not there, we have the line that blocks and the quarterback who can take us to victory through the air. If the passing game is not there, we have a running game that can take us to victory. The balance is absolutely exceptional. We will take what they give us. Sometimes it will be a balanced attack. And sometimes not. But the great news is that we have exceptional options either way.

New Milestone Reached by Dan Lanning Today....
Matched Kelly’s record without an innovative offense that revolutionized NCAA football. Lanning did it with substandard players compared to today and got his team to buy into cultural. Who doesn’t want to run through a brick wall for their coach? On that note, I find it more of a hurdle what Lanning did.

USC Buying It’s 2026 Recruiting Class a la A&M
USC locked down three Mater Dai commits back in April and May, with some reported significant NIL assets (Bowman, Topui, and Scott). Mater Dai had what for them was a bit of a down year. I of course don't follow the Trinity League that closely but the long time mod at the USC site Wildwest Sports (Java) does. His recent comments on the three? "I said this team is overrated. They are undisciplined. They are ghetto. And almost all the players that USC is getting I truly do not like... going 7-3 or 8-3 with that talent is embarrassing. Mater DEI should fire (head coach) Lara and USC should pull the scholarships of Bowman, Scott and the fat kid (Tupui) in the middle. Or let Bowman redshirt." Who knows of course, but found it interesting given the fanfare going along with USC's class this year. 🤷♂️
