Stein vs. Stein Offense Statistics
Comparing the Stein years? Well, one could also use something like Offensive FEI (opponent-adjusted offensive efficiency, scoring advantage per non-garbage time possession) over at BCSToys? 2023 1 Oregon 1.13 2 LSU 1.09 3 Georgia 0.85 4 Washington 0.65 2024 1 Ohio State 0.81 2 Oregon 0.76 3 Miami 0.73 4 Indiana 0.63 2025 1 Vanderbilt 1.01 2 USC 0.81 3 Oregon 0.75 4 Old Miss 0.72 I guess a small dip in non-garbage time offense from year one to three with all 3 seasons firmly elite level? If he did stay another year the trend would suggest another dip to 4th in the nation on offense in 2026.

ESPN College Football Gameday at SEC Championship Game
I’ve been watching the show from the beginning and that’s not the “spirit” of the show. ESPN College Football Gameday was all about celebrating and promoting the culture, passion and pageantry of college football. In the past, they would have selected the B1G Conference Championship game because it’s the only 2 undefeated teams remaining - #1 vs. #2. David vs. Galiath. Now we shrug our shoulders because they picked the game that will be broadcast on their network. That’s the problem with ESPN and now College Football Gameday - they have completely sold out and are a shell of what they used to be. ESPN let go most of the people who got them to become the “World Wide Leader in Sports” and paid those who are the loudest and say the most outrageous takes. I guess nothing lasts forever…

Stein vs. Stein Offense Statistics
Each column is a comparison against itself, with green (good), yellow/orange (middle), and red (bad/worst). But as you noted, those colors are relative to each other, and not necessarily "good" or "bad" in general. Your example could go the other way as well. If rushing yards per game was 101, 100, and 99, then the 101 would be highlighted green for "good". That said, what I wanted to presented was to see how Stein's offenses did relative to each other. I'll present the full data table in my next post that compares all coaches back to 2007, or so. That will give a better indicator of actual "good, middle, bad".

ESPN College Football Gameday at SEC Championship Game
Makes sense... I mean its kinda surprising they came out to Eugene twice considering they don't get to broadcast any B1G games. They do get to broadcast the SEC championship game so they might as well hype it up.

Hmmmm...let's do the math. A "kabillion" dineros for exclusive broadcasting rights for the ability to sell enough advertising dineros', to pay for the said broadcasting rights. Well...duhhh. Going to cover our butt...ocks the SEC championship game regardless of records and PO implications. 😁

Rags to Riches - FINALLY, for Dante Moore
All five offensive line starters will be leaving after the season, thus the outlook will be dependent upon the portal. A great offensive line next year is not a shoo-in.

Offensive Coordinator Candidates
I agree. Dan Lanning can call any OC in the country and they will at least answer the phone and very, very few would turn down an offer of the position. We don't need continuity, we need excellence and an open mind to continually adapt the offense to our players' strengths. Drew has been Stein's eyes in the box, which is something I've been critical of. Maybe Stein is overruling him and he is too much of a yes man, or he isn't recognizing what is actually going on.

At what point will Penn State realize that they will not get a better coach than Franklin? At this point, will they even find a coach that is as good as Franklin?

The only right decision about Miami/Notre Dame is keep them both out. Neither deserve it anyway.

Jared Curtis flips from UGA!
Absolutely no offense taken, and really it’s not a huge deal for me anyway. It is very disappointing to have lost Curtis, but there is likely a good reason he is staying home. Could be money, or family, or whatever. I do wish him well, at least until we play him. Seriously though, I’m fussing about nothing. Kirby has taken our recruiting to extreme heights, so I’ve got nothing to fuss about on that front. I trust him and our staff. I would say the same for Lanning. I was very disappointed to see him leave, but very happy to see him take the job in Eugene. You guys also have a great HC, and he seems to love coaching The Ducks!!! Hopefully we will beat Bama, but I’m certainly nervous about it! I do think we are the better team, but Bama has certainly had our number! I’m thinking that changes, but we will see.

Offensive Coordinator Candidates
Personally, I don’t like the idea of promoting someone without more OC experience (1 year at Rutgers?). It’s too important a position to the future success of our football program to take a chance on someone. The OC position at Oregon is one of the most coveted in college football given our reputation, talent, resources and track record of prior OCs becoming HCs. We should be able to hire a top notch, experienced OC.

Chris Henry Jr. did not formally submit his paperwork to Ohio State before the conclusion of their signing day press conference. Reports are that he is still considering Ohio State, Oregon and USC in light of Hartline’s departure and plans to sign today or tomorrow.
