I am not about to kick Dabo when he is down but...the man has not handled the Portal era well at all, practically ignoring it as a matter of fact. Nice to know that he feels confident in the rosters he has recruited out of high school, but he has fallen off in that regard as well. Clemson simply is not as talented as they were thought to be by the pundits and it is showing up between he lines. H either adjusts his recruitment strategy or he will lose his credibility with the Clemson fan base and maybe be coaching at somewhere like...Troy. That would be sad for a man who has recently won two Nattys.

I don't find too many coaching scenarios worse than Florida these days. But Clemson is nearing it. After starting out the season in the top five, the Tigers have dropped to 1-2 with their win coming by way of a seventeen point comeback over Troy. Dabo walked into a press conference yesterday with a answer to a question that never came. A beat reporter asked him if there was any play call he regretted calling in the loss to Georgia Tech. Dabo took that question and went on a five minute diatribe about him having years ahead of him. He said " If Clemson wants to send me on my way I'll happily go coach and do my thing elsewhere." With this and Brian Kelly going off after a win, there seems to be signs of these guys cracking under the pressure of NIL, transfer portal, and social media pressure. It makes you respect the way a younger guy like Dan Lanning has handled his business. Could you imagine Joe Paterno in today's game?

After 20+ years of season tickets, I am only able to go to a couple of games a year and as a graybeard, who has followed the Ducks for more than 5 decades, the Civil War still means something to me! Great question Charles, I don’t think that whatever I say will stand up to the standard coach Lanning has. I have to remember that the starters have yet to surrender a touchdown. I would love it if the younger subs could play up to the starter standard but that’s just my druthers. If anything I would like to see the O-line play to the normal Oregon standard which they haven’t to this point in the season (and they still haven’t given up a sack). The level of play that this team has show. Has blown the roof off of any expectations that I had preseason, so it’s hard to adjust realistically as to who or what this team is. Beat the Beavs, cover the spread, no injuries is about as good as I can ask. Go Ducks!!!

Disciplined execution. I expect a base gameplay with Dan challenging the team to beat the Beavs in the trenches straight up with power and speed. No need to get fancy. Basic blocking and tackling to wilt an inferior opponent over time.

And on 10/4, Florida Swamps Texas and puts another nail in the Arch Madness coffin. When in the heck will the Gators play a half-decent team? 😁

Improved run defense. We shouldn't need run support from the secondary unless the numbers dictate it. Gap control, beating blocks, setting the edge, staying low, and improved tackling where the pile doesn't keep falling forward for 2-3 extra yards. Save the stunts for next week.
